It’s an exciting time for the Vikings organization. Training camp has begun, the team is coming off a division title in 2008, Adrian Peterson looks better than ever and the defensive unit is enjoying the return of LB E.J. Henderson.
But in the midst of all that excitement, the Vikings organization had reason to pause today. It was on this day in 2001 that RT Korey Stringer passed away from complications brought on by heat stroke.
There isn’t a day that goes by that those of us who spend a couple of weeks at training camp aren’t reminded of Korey because a memorial tree was planted several years ago in his honor just outside of the main entrance to Gage Community Center, where Vikings players and staff are housed for camp.
