Here is Drafteks new Mock Draft. One of the better ones I have seen.

    http://www.drafttek.com/2013-NFL-Mock-Draft-Round1b.asp

    23 – Te’o ILB

    25 – Hopkins WR

    52 – Short DT

    83 – Wreh-Wilson CB

    102 – Gooden OLB

    120 – Mathieu CB

    155 – Goodman DE

    189 – Wing P

    213 – Wolff SS

    214 – Mellette WR

    229 – Graham RB

Exchange Te’o for Arhtur Brown, take OL instead of the Wing pick and take Boyd DT instead of Wolff and I’d be over the moon with that Draft.

There are several comments for The DRS, Jarnskeggi, and Mike B., on the previous blog if you have the guts to look.

Like Coach Leslie Frasier, the jones is going forward.

  8. By Frederick Jones on Apr 16, 2013 | Reply

    @BlueBird,

Thank you for your comments. Hopefully the Vikings coaching staff can also see Joe Webb’s talent.

It might be that he cannot ever make decisions fast enough, but we won’t know that until he has a shot at knowing the offense, getting a chance to practice with the first string, and playing several games in a row.

I’m not talking about him whipping 8 interceptions over two games and keeping him on the field, but for Lombardi’s sake, let him play when we’re losing by 20 in the second half!!!

    @BlueBird,

    See above comments.

Looking at that schedule, we better take 2 CB`s, including 1 of our #1`s. We`ll be facing lots of teams that run 3-4-5 WR sets. Not to mention top notch gunslinger type QB`s.

Joe Webb is DONE at the QB position. Time to make like Coach Frasier and “go forward”.

I have my friend Fred. Do you have the guts to work on your racist issues? I have no problem with any ones color, only with the using of color to advance ones agenda without having the ability to back up ones ambition. For me it is about ability not color.

How much time in the NFL does a QB like Webb need to become persistent? He has been part of the team how long? Was he just drafted and does not know how things work? Did he not start games before we got Ponder? I say use his talent as a running back or a WR, they are just as important as a QB.

Keenan Allen – WR – Player Cal WR Keenan Allen was red-flagged for a drug test at February’s Combine.

Allen’s rocky run-up to the draft continues. Concerns about a slow recovery stemming from an October knee injury coupled with forty times of 4.71 and 4.75 have his first-round status on shaky ground. Allen took another drug test this month, the results of which are unknown. For what it’s worth, his agent is denying that Allen ever failed a drug test — he says his client was retested for ankle and knee injuries.

Been a few days since I posted… I know all of you have just been on pins and needles waiting for me…. NOT! I have been on the job hunt, so I have missed the blog a lot the past few days. So with that said- here are 3 thoughts:

1- We gotta take a WR in the first round. Please come faster draft!!!

2- Trade Webb. If we are not going to utilize him, then let him loose so that he can show his stuff with another team. He deserves to play. I just don’t think he is going to get the break he wants with the Vikes. I have been critical of him in the past, but only because he hasn’t done anything- no playing time… Please come faster draft!!!

3- I have had many people reach out to me recently with their kindness. Very humbling to have people care about you in meaningful ways. I need to do better at that myself, so I want to say Thank You to everyone here on the blog for giving me a great place to come for insights and to distract me from life’s daily grind. I love to read ALL the comments. Makes me laugh and ticks me off at the same time. You are all appreciated… Nuf said…

Looks like a pretty brutal road schedule.

  22. By WRHopkins2013 on Apr 16, 2013 | Reply

Matt Barkley – QB – Player GM Buddy Nix doesn’t believe the Bills would be reaching if they took a quarterback at No. 8 overall.
Oh boy. “This quarterback class is better than everybody thinks it,” Nix insisted Tuesday. “Five or six of those guys — maybe seven — do a lot of things good and do them good enough to win. … I’ve said this from the start, that two or three of these guys will be franchise quarterbacks. I believe that.” The Bills are considered likely to come away with an early-round QB, but not at No. 8. The fact that Nix is already conducting PR on a pick he fears could be labeled a reach should change that, however. Coach Doug Marrone has been heavily connected to his college QB Ryan Nassib, but he’d be a massive reach at No. 8. Perhaps the Bills will trade back on day one, or trade up on day two, where they pick at No. 41. Related: Bills

Keenan Allen – WR – Player Cal WR Keenan Allen’s player rep strongly denies he was “red-flagged” for a drug test at the Combine.
“We have received no notifications. None,” Allen’s told Profootballtalk Tuesday afternoon. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the red flag arose after Allen’s Combine sample contained suspiciously high water content, suggesting he was attempting to beat the test. It’s a concern for Allen’s draft stock, but not as much as his dead-legged 40 times (4.71 and 4.75).

Everybody is racist in some way or another. Weather its color of a person skin or someone’s nationality or a person gender. Religious beliefs always seems to be a big. For me I hate everyone equally(just a joke). Joe Webb will never get a fair shot at QB. First of all nobody knows if he can play or not. Joe wasn’t trade by Leslie so he not his pick of choice at the qb spot(even though Joe Webb won those games to help Leslie keep the head coaches job). YOU HAVE TO HAVE FULL SUPPORT BY COACHES GM MANAGEMENT FOR YOU TO SUCESSFUL. Joe will never get that in Minnesota. You need a couple years playing full time not one game in a year and a half. Then everyone says joe sucks he cant play QB will never know unless he gets traded to another team.

What do you think about Trading Toby to either Miami or NY Jets?

Getting either the Jets 9th or 13th 1st round Pick. Then giving up our 1st round #25th & 7th round # 231 pick, but getting there 2nd round #8th (39th overall) – All depend on if the Revis trade happens with Tampa.

    Or

    Getting Miami’s 12th 1st round Pick. Then giving up our 1st round #25th & 7th round # 231 pick, but getting there 2nd round #11th (42th overall)

Then We would have the following draft picks

    1st Round # 9th, 12th, or 13th
    1st Round # 23rd
    2nd Round # 39th or 42th – (2nd round draft pick for Toby)
    2nd Round # 52
    3rd Round # 83
    4th Round # 99
    4th Round # 117
    5th Round # 148
    6th Round # 179
    7th Round # 213
    7th Round # 229

That would give us 6 pick in the top 100 in the drafts, which could potentially give the vikes up to 4 – 6 starters in 2013.

    1st Round: Te’o or Ogletree

    3rd Round: Honey Badger

Then take wreh-Wilson in 4th and Jordan Campbell with a 7th

The reason I think a move to WR is likely is that I don’t see him having much trade value. You’re only as good as your last game. That’s a fact of life. I agree that Joe Webb doesn’t have the support of the Vikings staff to be the #1 QB. I said this last year and say it again, if Joe Webb wants to be a starting QB in the NFL it’s time to request a trade. Otherwise accept whatever role you are given. I think this whole race card issue is out of line and it appears to me it’s the same person always initiating it. That is not called for espcially when there is no proof of it on the blog. Enough is enough.

It doesn’t do a lot of good to have a top notch draft, if DUMB decisions are made afterwards, such as releasing backup QB Sage Rosenfeldts, and keeping backup QB Joe Webb (who contributes almost nothing to the team). Losing the Packers game during the playoffs because Joe Webb is our best solution to replace injured QB Christian Ponder is absolutely inexcusable. HD CO Leslie Frazier has done an outstanding job of coaching the Vikes in turning around a team that really should have been ‘re-building’, to win 10 regular season games. The Packers were so beatable in that game, that we should have beaten them soundly. How embarrassing it was to watch Joe Webb blow us out of the water all by himself! Maybe you still have time to trade Joe Webb to the Seahawks, and get him off of our roster. SKOL VIKINGS!

Rey Johnson – I agree Webb sucked in the playoff game, however, we still had Thompson and I assume he was active for the game. My question would be why didn’t Frazier put Thompson in the game as at least a chance at a better performance than Webb was exhibiting.

Champ Henson, some coaches cannot admit they made the wrong choices when it comes to their starting line-up. Sometimes they feel the pressure from the fan and others and make dumb decisions, sometimes they keep players in the game to say see I told you so, and other times they keep hoping for a better result by keeping the player in the game. It is my feeling that the Vikings coaching staff had no confidence in our #3 QB.

There was a reason- I said months ago…Joe Webb’s agent should demand Joe to be traded or released (publicly)…Because the Vikings know he has no future with the team…

The only reason Frazier is talking about WR with Webb again…Is NOT because they are open to that idea “again”… It’s because the organization wants to “justify” keeping Webb on the roster…By not allowing him a out right release to find work somewhere else on his own…

The Vikings want to trade Webb…And will hold onto Webb as long as they can…In hopes that might happen…

If that happens…It might be VERY difficult for Webb to find a job…OTA’s and training camps will be over for other teams…The draft also offer tons of young QB’s to develop…

Webb’s best chance was to be released (a month ago)…
I like Joe Webb…And would like to see him succeed somewhere…

But the truth is…Webb’s chances of landing someplace are getting slimmer…With each day stays on a Viking team that is clinging onto hope of trading him for a VERY late round draft pick…Being the only interest they have left in Webb…

Webb has been a very good teammate !!!…He deserves better than that…

Manti Te’o – LB – Player ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported on SportsCenter Wednesday that Notre Dame ILB Manti Te’o is widely viewed as a first-round pick inside the NFL.
Mort also mentioned that Te’o “aced” his team interviews at the Combine. “At least half the teams in this league have solid first-round grades on Te’o,” stated Mortensen. “I have heard ‘undersized’ a bit. (But) most teams do see that he’s going to go somewhere in the first round.” ESPN’s Mel Kiper listed the Bears, Vikings, and Giants as Te’o’s likeliest three landing spots on day one.

Audie Cole – LB – Vikings Coaches have told Audie Cole that the starting middle linebacker position is open for competition.
Last year’s starting middle ‘backer Jasper Brinkley signed with the Cardinals in free agency, leaving Cole as the tentative starter. The 2012 seventh-round pick is expected to see competition in the form of an early-round rookie. It’s an IDP situation to monitor as the underwhelming Brinkley managed 98 tackles a year ago.

I agree on Minter or Brown, Haze, but I don’t think Te’o is as bad as he has been made out to be lately. If Rick takes him, then he had a dam good reason to do so, like the input from Leslie Frazier and Mike Singletary… Those dudes know a little somethin somethin bout defense :)

Te’o got pushed around pretty bad against Ala. He looked like he was a little too hyped for that game. A lot of times he charged the Ala. line of scrimmage without really finding the running back, and got pushed back into the defensive backfield by some of their big lineman.

While Ala loves to pound the rock, not many NFL teams, except us do that. Teo may be weird but he’s got skills. The boy is generally around the ball and seems to have a sense of where the play is going.

To me, a major portion of a good MLB is intelligence. I think a lot of our intentions with Teo will come from conversations with Speilman and Harrison Smith about Teo.

That’s one good thing about having a lot of ND players.

Finally, there is no question we need a MLB. We’ll see!

I was looking at the point system for the draft, and thought this might be a good idea.

Trade our 25 pick and 52 pick to the Saints for 15th, to steal Tavon Austin, projected to go to St. Louis at 16.

Then use the extra 4th round pick, and another pick to move back to the 2nd round.

Plus we would still have our original #1 pick at 23.

  117. By QB on Apr 17, 2013 | Reply

I can’t get Tavon Austin off my mind. Had the same feeling about Percy four years ago.

I saw an interview some while back with his coach at WV, and he told the NFL network, he’s never seen anyone like Austin. He said they took just his 2012 highlights at the piece took 13 minutes.

Most importantly, he loves football and never missed a practice in college.

not sure if anyone has mentioned that ^ but if someone they want falls to us we could potentially trade with them and still get some of the players we want. Spielman did well with the Browns trade last year this might be something he could look to do this year. Free picks are always good.

Packers agreed to terms with OLB Clay Matthews on a five-year, $66 million contract extension through 2018.
The deal will likely include more than the $40 million guaranteed DeMarcus Ware brought home in 2009. Matthews, who has 43 sacks through his first 58 NFL games, was going into the final year of his rookie contract. The deal could include a fairly sizable 2013 cap hit, as the Pack have worked diligently to keep space open this season. Next on the docket for Green Bay is Aaron Rodgers, who should sign the most lucrative contract in league history. Related: Aaron Rodgers

7 days until the draft!!! Can’t come soon enough… I am thinking that we are going to make a huge dent in our needs with the first 3 picks. I am hoping for WR, ILB and then CB. I am also wanting to see us grab a punter in the later rounds and possibly even a QB. A Pair of WR’s would potentially be nice- one for a deep presence that has height, can jump and has good hands and one that can run after the catch. Maybe even a punter. Kluwe should be a little nervous don’t you think? The WR and some more protection for our Qb is vital though. We cant afford to not pull the trigger on those if we get the chance. Whether that means trading up or down to get the guy, then I am all for it.

Get the BPA between LB CB and DT, possibly trading back a bit if multiple guys we like are there. then use what ever we need to in order to trade up in the second (assuming we need to) to grab either Hopkins or Hunter. Im guessing at least one of them should be available for us then.. that puts 3 starters into our line up, and gives us the best shot at filling holes with quality that can play now.
