Vlad, you know what, your right. How dare Ponder not show consistency in his 2nd year as a starter. You're "25 starts" stat may seem large up front but realistically speaking Ponder hasn't even completed 2 full seasons so technically it's closer to a season and a half.

If you think this is enough time and starts for a player to get comfortable enough to play at his full potential than I'm afraid you are the one living in assumption. Did you see Eli Manning put up 3 games in a row with 0 TD's? He also has 2 Super Bowl rings.

I did watch all the games Vlad, as a matter of fact I recorded every single game and watched each game twice because I like to watch different positions the 2nd time like the blocking or our corners play the receivers ect. You know what I saw? Games that Ponder played well in the Offensive Line dominated the line of scrimmage and the receivers had separation and actually caught the ball. Games Ponder didn't perform well in, he had instant pressure in his face and receivers either couldn't get open or dropped crucial catches.

I take the bad games with the good games, I take the O-line performance and WR performance in to consideration. I pointed out the 49er and Packer games because those are the games where each player did his job to help the TEAM win.

Next time read the entire post instead of quoting 1 line and taking it out of context. If you THINK that Ponder doesn't have the stuff to be a starting QB for the Vikings, after not even 2 seasons as a started, fine. BUT don't come here and try to degrade others for trusting people who get to talk and work with these players on daily bases instead of some "fans" who are writing off a player for not developing fast enough to match their expectations.

autobon7, your right, getting paid for something doesn't make every decision the right decision but who do you think I'm going to put my trust in? Our GM who says he waits at least 3 years to grade a draft class or some guy named Vlad on the internet who as far as I know could be a Russian alcoholic in his moms basement who get's excited by correcting peoples grammar and spelling on the internet? (Not saying this is you Vlad)

I'm done with this topic. I'm more of a "glass half-full" kinda guy. Vikings had probably the best draft of all teams this year, went from 3-13 to making the playoffs with 10-6 (not to mention 1 win away from the Packers), we got our future QB as far as I'm concerned.........I'm a happy Viking fan today.

Just like there are "cancers" in the locker room, there are also cancers in the fan base...

Rudso, you are almost funny, but you live in assumptions and that is not funny. It is blind allegiance.

Quote from Rudso:
"Just the 49er and Packer (last) game was enough for me to see the potential games he can play on regular bases"

So two games is regular basis (note basis, not bases). 16 game schedule and he was ANYYthing but good or consistent. You should watch ALL the games before you handpick your faves to make point (that loses weight when viewed in full).

Ponder had maybe 5-6 games that could be considered "good" and that good is only by Ponder's mediocre standards. So we should be happy about this as "regular"?

And since when do you surmise I was not happy about his good performances? You know what is in the minds of people?

Webb was NOT prepared - listen to pressers, BOTH Frazier and Webb discuss his readiness or lack of, and to Webb's credit he did not use that as defense, he still felt he should have and couldve done better - but he also discusses the gameplan that was quickly assembled and then left for traditional stand and throw GP... and being ready does not mean wearing a uniform. And if you think a kids 4th or 5th game as a starter, being a play-off game at that, that he should just be Tom Brady than your critical eye is far more devilish than those of us that have watched Ponder start 25 or so games and STILL has not turned in "good performance" 7 times.....

BOTH are bad. Webb more out of lack of playing time and maturity at the spot, Ponder's out of lack of intangibles and arm strength.

But of course you already knew that since you read my mind. Peace. Moving onto 2013

And just like there are Ponder supporters there are Ponder haters who no matter how good a game Ponder has will still write him off because they know so much. I may base some of my support on hope for Ponder but I also base it on what he can do. Just the 49er and Packer (last) game was enough for me to see the potential games he can play on regular bases. I see the bad games just like you but do you see the good games? You would think after seeing the train wreck that Webb put up you would have more appreciation for our starting QB.

Yet you blame the coaches for not preparing Joe? Are you serious?!? What is the 2nd strings job? The whole team knew Ponder hurt his elbow. You prepare like youre going to start every game........and it's playoffs. Don't blame Joe's performance on lack of preparation. At least I'm supporting 1 of our QBs while you Vlad think you know better than the people who get paid to do this...

I think, believe, Frazier is a good coach but he stated something to effect about grooming a young QB. I believe that desire clouded his judgement. Rosenfels should have at least been the backup. Now they should start all over.
Well said Jim M -- this is not a Webb/Ponder issue, it is organizational issue and how they view their QB spot.

Imagine if we didn't have someone as amazing as Peterson... we would be a 5 win team maybe! Defending Ponder is easy even WITH the best back in the universe.

This is not a vindication for Ponder to all the Ponder supporters. Ponder was still bad as can be - near enough anyway, that another different miserable guy does not clean his own pen. Ponder is a HOPED for answer.

I only suggest we move on from both and get a real QB this season ahead. THAT is my hope, not if Ponder grows a pair and strength and intangibles.... cuz that ain't happening.
