It’s probably good thing if Ponder is not playing tonight if he is bothered by the elbow since he has a weak arm and if his elbow is bothering him it might lead to a lot of ints for him. Step it up tonight Webb.

I love how last week everyone loves ponder, now everyone hates him again… if he can’t throw, he can’t throw, he will be more of a hinderance than a help. however, he did finish last week which makes me wonder why after a week to heal he wouldn’t at least try to start.. he didn’t look that bad at the end of the game last week!

but either way, PONDER has still come a long long way this year, now it is time to support webb for as long as we need him but lets not forget that ponder’s play the last few weeks is what got us here.

  54. By Mike B. on Jan 5, 2013 | Reply

Makes me sick to see fans tear down a player that’s done so well for 4 weeks. The guy has an injury and can’t play and these so called fans just want to cut him down. really is sickening.

Honestly with everything that has happened in the last couple of season with Webb I hope Ponder is out for the rest of the playoff and Joe leads us to the Super Bowl just to slap every hater/nay sayer and coach in the face. Then get traded to another team where he will shine and we all shake our heads as we dream of the what could have been and realize that it has become the never will be. Viking fan through and through but the way this organization has treated Webb I hope he shines and gives it to everyone who has doubted him.

  72. By cpz on Jan 5, 2013 | Reply

I think Webb can shock the world (since no one gives us a chance) and get the job done tonight. I honestly think this team has the makings of a possible ’07 Giants or ’10 Packers… getting hot at the right time, playing as a team, could make a surprise playoff run from the #6 seed. However, I must say I really really do hope that Ponder can make it back by next week after Webb gets it done tonight.. not a knock of Webb.. .but Ponder’s experience (however limited) is something we will need to make a deep playoff run this year. He doesn’t have a lot, but he has more than Webb, and he will NEED the valuble playoff experience he gets this year, in the future if he is to be our long-term starting QB.

But, as Vikings fans, this shouldnt come as a surprise, as we’ve seen it all. Maybe if AP runs for a 500 yards today, we can win, haha. Hopefully next season we can take another step forward.

This was a shock!! I don’t like this at all not a good game for Webb to come into after seeing no action this year. How much rust is he gonna have and how many mistakes throwing will he make?? Big questions. I love Webb don’t get me wrong but now I’m full of anxiety I really don’t believe this is good for the Vikes. I wonder whats up with Ponders elbow will he be back later if we pull off the win. AP all day and those WR’S had better seriously step it up if we are to have any chance at all. Defense better step it up another notch too if that’s possible. This really sucks. Lets go Joe you can do it just play smart ball buddy.

There sure are some Ponder haters here lol. I wanna thank him for stepping up and helping us win out the end of our regular season. Though it was mostly Peterson being a Freak. Well Ponders arm is definately not impressive, him having elbow bursitis makes him completely unable to play. Can you imagine the lame duck throws! lol. It is time for Webb to show his horns in the playoffs. Go Joe, and Skol Vikings.

Joe Webb makes tim tebow look like an accurate thrower the only thing webb can do is run the ball so if green bay plays zone coverage they will take away his running lanes and make him throw it but too bad he couldn’t hit the ground if it wasn’t for gravity and most of you ignorant clowns think this is great no wonder the vikings dont get respect most of the fans cant even respect the QB that got us here

Anyone that bashes ponder after the way he has recovered and helped get us to the playoffs is a utter fool. I’m not happy to see him hurt and I’m still not sold on him but he has shown he deserves to play for this team. That said it’s nice to have qb like Webb to be able to come in and add a new look to the offense that the packers weren’t able to prepare for. I think this game and the rest after we win will make the qb competition next yr even more exciting. I thank ponder for getting us here and I look forward to seeing you next yr.

I agree with the old chief .Webb will throw a monkey wrench into the packers plan he can run. But I am disappointed in everyone putting Ponder down he was our hot hand going in to this game. If his elbow or arm is hurt it would be senseless to risk losing him further. I just hope that Webb is not rusty sitting around i hope he makes smart decisions on who to throw to. The receivers were starting to have a good harmony with Ponder.

Will people finally see that he is a terrible QB maybe convert him to WR but I would just cut him and save the money for the cap next year and give BT a shot at starter. I think he will be the QB of our future.

I don’t want to bash Webb but he is reminding me of McNabb last year.

  135. By vikings14 on Jan 5, 2013 | Reply

once when i saw that webb was going to be the starter i knew we didnt really have a chance because now the packers know we cant pass the ball so just biltz webb and dont let him get of pocket the packers are goin to win easily

This is sad……..sad……..sad……….sad! I really wanted to see how Ponder could do in his first playoff game? Well, all you Webb lovers………WERE THE H**L are you now? huh? huh? You Ponder haters make me SICK………..PUKE. I hope Ponder, somehow, goes to another team. Maybe Jacksonville or Kansas City. Then maybe he will get the respect he deserves. I did not mean this for all of you fans who supported Ponder thru thick and thin, just the ones who insisted on bashing him even though he made a turn for the good and got us to the playoffs.

  137. By VikeTyke on Jan 5, 2013 | Reply

Now we really dont have a chance. The only way we can even dream of getting back in it is if we get some interceptions(defense really steps up) or Peterson gets some long runs.

i always believed in ponder to bad he is not playing in his first playoff game tonite

Are you kidding me … Webb starting QB … game over ,,,, Webb can not read a defense with the blueprint in front of him … Frazier should be FIRED because he and his staff are idiots … their only offense is giving the ball to Adrian ,,, really?

I have been a DIE HARD Vikings fan for 30+ years. However, I knew that the game was over before it started when Joe Webb was named the starting QB.
He just isn’t of the caliber that is needed at this state in the season (a QB needs to be able to pass by this point!). It’s over for the Vikes this year. Amybe next year, the coaches will take a GOOD look at some of the weak spots. QB seems to be at the top of the list for a long time now. Ponder is okay, but nothing to plan trophies on. He isn’t a Favre, a Rodgers or even a Matt Schaub. Better luck next year Vikings! Webb = the disaster of the evining. You should have played Ponder, even at half mast. He at least would have have kept the score respectable.

  153. By mnsoldier on Jan 5, 2013 | Reply

oh what a bag game we play when we start a webb. Cut him before he gets to out of the locker and make him find his own way home as he does not deserve to be with the rest of the team. What a jack hole he is.

  154. By old vike fan on Jan 5, 2013 | Reply

why do they have a receiver playing qb?

  155. By Bear Fan on Jan 5, 2013 | Reply

Viketyke you guys played real hard last week, Ponder is not the only player on the team

  156. By Tallytown on Jan 5, 2013 | Reply

Ponder was sidelined so be careful what some of you wish for, because you finally got it! Not even superman Peterson was enough to move the team forward without Ponder.

  157. By mnsoldier on Jan 5, 2013 | Reply

So who will be the vikes first pick in the draft, as long as they dont go after yet another project qb from low upper middle east nowhere state tech. like they have with webb, culpepper and jackson. we wasted more than 15 years on them and for what, nothing, look at New England they have essentially had 2 quarterbacks since they drafted bledsoe and brady, taught them how to play and thus allowed themselves to concentrated on the rest of the team, unlike the vikes who have dragged every dead arm qb through here since tarkington retired.

So stick with ponder, develope BT and get some WR aand DB help.

  158. By mnsoldier on Jan 5, 2013 | Reply

Also get an offensive coordinator that has a spark of imagination and thought process, a cocaine addicted rat could pick plays better.

We played real hard tonight, but you have to be able to pass the ball for the running game to work. And the quarterback has to be able to avoid some sackes. We had neither tonight.

jamie i have you beat, been a viking fan for 40 LONG years. hey they won more games this year than I thought they would. They are years behind the elite teams! defense can’t play cover 2 against rodgers.

one 10-6 coach didnt deserve to get fired but the other one….i dunno maybe he’ll get more comfortable back there as coach the same way ponder was looking a lil more comfortable as a qb

all u idiots who thought webb was good get to see what he was and all u idiots that think ponder decided not to play are ignorant, the medical staff and coaches wouldnt let him u stupid idiots, Im glad to have ponder and he’s obvioulsly our future and we have a bright one, unfortunatley most fans of our beloved franchise arent grateful and are completely ignorant. :(

    super bowl next year!!

  167. By parktown on Jan 5, 2013 | Reply

you guys are all talking on this chat board that Ponder sucks and Webb is going to be such a hero. When clearly Webb can barely hit an open receiver he over throws or throws it into the ground. If Ponder played tonight it would have been a close game.

  168. By Anthony on Jan 5, 2013 | Reply

Hopefully now everyone will stop whinning about how Webb should start and realize Ponder is our future and is capable of leading this team to greatness

  169. By Tarkington/White on Jan 5, 2013 | Reply

all I’ve have seen all year is Ponder this Ponder that we need Joe Webb, why don’t they put him in, he’s this he’s that. Well if he was so great how come he couldn’t win the job from a lame candy ass. I think we saw why tonight so all the Joe Webb supports he is not the answer. Is Ponder? I’m not sure, but I know it is not nor will it ever be Webb.

i wish there was a time beside the date of our posts. i skip a good handful of posts from FIRST down to LAST looks like plenty of ppl started fired up man i was talking to my dad on the phone. we were discussing the game before our team marched out for kickoff. i told my dad about our qbs elbow an we both said thats silly. hes goin to play an try an compliment AD. i get off the phone 5mns till kickoff my wifes tellin me joes startn! doowahh?! CHRISTIAN earned his right to his 1st post season appearance an he is letting this other guy take his spotlight ! i want a franchise qb better than what ponders come into at a faster pace just like every1 but dang. webb didnt make me proud after 2 possesions. hes a WR! most of us know this!! i am mad that ponder let weebb play an say my elbows not good enough. u dont think arons just a wee bit sore after getting SACKD 5 times 6 days ago?

I CAN NOT BELIEVE PONDER WOULD NOT PLAY IN A VERY IMPORTANT GAME.LIKE THIS ONE.THEY BRING IN WEBB WHO HAD NO CLUE ON WHAT HE WAS DOING.I HAVE SEEN EVERYTHING NOW THEY BETTER START LOOKING FOR NEW QUARTERBACK FOR NEXT SEASON. WHAT A LET DOWN THE COACHES SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES.NICE JOB WE HAVE MORE TALENT IN THE STANDS.

  173. By parktown on Jan 6, 2013 | Reply

No one has a clue what there talking about when it comes to Ponder and his arm injury that led him to not playing last night. It was never a pain issue with Ponder it was a range of Motion and the fact that the coatchs saw that he couldnt not get the velocity under the ball to make the throws he needed to make. go look on EPSN they did an article on the extent of his injury and they even think that it was right for him not to play. having an ingury on your THROWING arm is a big deal for a QB

  175. By BjStricker on Jan 6, 2013 | Reply

Well well well…. I’ve stuck with supporting Ponder all year. Even argued with my Father and many others that if it wasn’t for Ponder complimenting AD we would not have finished 10-6 in the regular season. During last nights game I found myself saying a couple things quite often…. “Ponder would’ve completed that one”, “They probably convert that 3rd and manageable if Christian was playing.” All you Ponder haters and Webb lovers should finally just pipe down and look forward to a competitive next season with Christian Ponder as the captain of the ship.

If we don’t draft to beat the GB Packers we will never get out of second third place in our own division, they go 5 wide we have no clue how to stop it, They actually took it easy on us in the second half could have put up 40 if they wanted too!! take a script from the Seahawks, and there BIG db’s and safties, DEFENCE,DEFENCE,DEFENCE, This next draft, Oh yeah and some WR’s!!!
