The NFL has announced that the Vikings-Packers Wild Card game will take place in primetime on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 7 PM CT on NBC.  The game will be broadcast on KARE 11 in the Twin Cities and throughout the state of Minnesota.

Needless to say, much more on this rubber-match between the two teams throughout the week on vikings.com.

congrats to adrian peterson in becoming the first viking to rush for over 2000 yards in a single season.( from a viking fan in south texas)

Blitz Aaron Rodgers! Continue to run the football to keep Aaron Rodgers on the sidline. Vikings should use a heavy run blocking set when pack goes 8 in the box. Vikings defense needs to shed blocks and tackle better. GO VIKINGS!!!

I recall once, a GB defender was thoroughly beat by a Vikes ball carrier, can’t remember the personnel. No chance of making a tackle, but just close enough to poke the ball out from under his arm, forcing fumble and saving TD. Packers are a winning team because they remain open to all possibilities, and make opportunities accordingly. Expect unorthodox, even sneaky play and prepare for it, e.g. fake FG attempt, unusual onside kick, weird laterals &c. Not necessarily recommending the Vikes try anything like that, at least not at this point in this season; just be prepared.

Great win yesterday. But I just don’t see a win on Saturday. Peterson and ponder both excellent yesterday and packers made some mistakes. To replicate that for a second week, and at lambeau? I’m not going to get my hopes up.

@Pablo I don’t know why you would say that, the only reason they won in Lambeau the first time was a couple of horrible interceptions by Ponder. Turnovers win games, Ponder created 2 last time and the Packers won, the Vikings created one Sunday and surprise the Vikings won. These games are close between these two division rivals, ball security is the key to beating the Packers, because their defense can’t handle it honestly. It’s been sub-par for years, but these teams (Pats, Pack, Saints) have been winning by putting up huge scoring numbers with elite passing offenses. I’m predicting you’re going to see a return to run heavy offenses like the Vikings, Seahawks, and Redskins are doing, because it keeps the ball out of the opposing QBs hands. All Aaron Rodgers can do from the sidelines is pout like he spent all yesterday doing (and possibly film allstate commercials). Skol Vikes, I have a feeling I’m going to be watching an NFC championship here in Seattle where I live.

@Danny..I agree with most of what you say.@Pablo is definatly being too pessimistic.AP has run for 400+ yards on these guys so until the Packers show they can stop it,then just keep running and do what we did offensively on Sunday.
My one concern is if Antoine Winfield doesn’t play…that secondary looked very sketchy once he went down. The defensive coaches have to find an answer very quickly!

We need Winfield on the field he is the glue that give cohesiveness to this secondary. If there a better tackle in the NFL that weighs about buck eighty and has more than 10 years of experience than Winfield I haven’t seen him yet. Put a cast on him and let him go out and destroy packers year!

This team can beat the packers but the coaches and the players need to show up and make good decisions, now it’s time to be focused and live up to being Super Bowl Champs!
