Packers Injury Report: CB Woodson Ruled Out, But DL Getting Healthier

Posted by Mike Wobschall on December 27, 2012 – 8:00 am

Future Hall of Fame CB Charles Woodson did not play in the first Vikings-Packers matchup of the season because of a broken collarbone suffered against the St. Louis Rams in Week 7. And he won’t play in the second Vikings-Packers matchup, either, because of the injury.

Sunday will mark the 9th game Woodson has missed because of the injury. The Packers were hopeful that Woodson would make his return this week for the season finale, hoping the game would serve as a tune-up for the team’s postseason run.

“We were hopeful this was going to be the game,” Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy said. “This is his fourth week now going through practice. I know he’s disappointed. This is a game he’d really like to play in.”

Elsewhere, though, Green Bay is getting healthier. That is especially the case along the defensive line, where starter CJ Wilson returned to practice after missing the past 4 games and rookie DE Jerel Worthy also returned to work after missing last week’s game. Wilson is one of Green Bay’s top run stoppers, and his absence from the first border battle was a plus for Adrian Peterson and the Vikings as they ran up and down Lambeau Field. Worthy is a high-performing member of the DL rotation and one of several contributors from the Packers 2012 draft class.

Green Bay has 13 players listed on its injury report. Listed as out was Woodson. Listed as non-participants in practice were K Mason Crosby, G Josh Sitton and RB James Starks. Listed as limited participants in practice were WR Randall Cobb, G Evan Dietrich-Smith, CB Davon House, Wilson, Worthy and C Jeff Saturday. Full participants were TE Tom Crabtree, RB Alex Green and WR Jordy Nelson.

For the Vikings, DE Jared Allen, RB Adrian Peterson and CB Antoine Winfield did not practice. DE Brian Robison was limited, and P Chris Kluwe, RT Phil Loadholt and CB Marcus Sherels were full participants.

Getting A.P> is more iimportant than winning> why, because he deserve’s it! A.P. is out there trying 100% every play. As a team, there are some questionable playing by players, like some of them sit back and watch the great players, probowlers, and no they can get away without trying to hard. A.P. is giving it his all the whole game! get A.P. the record!!

  4. By RichardA1 on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

    Get A.P. the record

Get the W first, then worry about AP’s record. We can’t take our foot off the gas with this team. There is no… Let the D play it out…. in this game. If we score, we need to go down and score again. This Fudge Packer team has the ability to come back even when down by a lot. Do not slow down. MESS THIS TEAM UP VIKES!!!!!!!!!!! Make the Packers your beotch AP!!!!!!

    SKOL VIKINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. By Ponder AKA 3 and out on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

AP is hurt, they might not play him the whole game, if it looks like we have the game won in the last 8 minutes. the staff doesn’t care about the record, they want him ready for the 1st playoff game

  7. By Parkway on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

Agreed that it is unlikely AP gets the record. Get the W, but I really hope he gets 2000

  8. By 61Vikings on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

Who cares about records or stats!!! You play to win the game!! The only stat that matters is how many Super Bowls have you won and that’s something, we as Viking fans’ have never tasted!! Ask the elite teams in the NFL that have won multiple Super Bowls about stats and records and the first thing they’ll say is, we’ve won a lot of Super Bowls, that’s all we care about!!!! How many of us would really care if AP breaks the record, but yet we lose the game and lose out on making the playoffs!! The focus should always be on winning the game first, then, if possible, go for the record!!!

agreed……….record or no record I want to see our team in frisco….battling for a playoff win…….skol vikes!!!

What a high pressure week. I feel just as stressed out as the players probably do lol

JonesDoggy wants to say that the Chr@stian Ponder may very well wind up with a great game versus the Packers if our healthy O Line does it’s normal stalwart job.

FredOFdogg also thinks that the Ponder may well wind up being one of the best QBs in the NFL.

We just hope the Vikings don’t forget JOE WEBB, who could work miracles in relief, and like Hosteler, Plunkett, and others, THAT could happen during the playoffs or Super Bowl!!!

  13. By Tim S on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

I feel like im the only one that recognizes that almost 96% of all QB completions of our opponent are to a WR “guarded” by Jefferson. I think he’s quite terrible. And best believe Aaron Rodgers will exploit that week side.

  14. By Frederick Jones on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

Chr@stian may have chosen his number seven for religious reasons.

DoggOFJones hopes that it works out for him!!!

If Ponder “Ponders” away this game Frazier better be smart enough to put in Webb.

  16. By BlueBird7 on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

If Ponder messes up the game, all Frazier will do is study the tape at half time.

BLOCK, RUN. BLOCK, RUN. BLOCK, RUN. Play action pass. We need to get it done in the trenches to open everything up. We play in the BEAST mode stratosphere. Like thunder and lighting we move and have our being.

We should do this in the Dome!

  22. By Tim S on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

Not really worried about the clay mathews pass rush. I think that Watt is more skilled and he was almost non existent. BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK. Fusco needs to figure out how to move a body

  23. By Tim S on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

@ Spencer. That is pretty legit!!!

But I could go another year without the roof coming down in the dome. Cool idea though

  24. By Tim S on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

Not to mention, There is gonna be a lot of yellow and green in those stands. Home field advantage isnt going to be as useful. At least we are on turf. And we know how AP is on turf…

    @ Parkway

Do you think Emerson gets the start over Robison?

  26. By Parkway on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

I think he should, but if they think Robison is healthy enough I’d say they will probably start him instead.

  27. By Parkway on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

Where’s lance, Kiper has Glennon as a top ten pick and first QB off the board now.

  28. By Tim S on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

Agreed. I think Emerson is someone that come come from both sides. Maybe they should start robison and have griffen cycle Allen and Robison out to keep them close to 100%. I dont see them cycle out Allen enough.

  29. By Tim S on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

All in all Its a pretty weak QB class. To find talent I think that your going to have to take a chance into the later rounds to try and find a gem

  30. By vikess86 on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

Unleash everson griffin, jarred allen, kevin williams, letroy guion. Harrison Smith, Adrian peterson. Chris Cook.(the difference maker on Defense secondary) watch the tape. and AP and Jarius Wright. SImpson please make more catches like the one last game. Lets Go Vikes

  31. By Tim S on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

I think Guion is kinda worthless IMO. Hes just not very good

  32. By MuskyFever on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

I agree with Tim S. The starter first round QBs are weak this eyar. Either stick it out with Ponder… I can’t believe I just said that, or hopefully find a gem in the later rounds. You never know what you will get. Brady was a 6th rounder and Russle Wilson was a 3rd rounder. so who knows…

I really just don’t like Ponder. He has a lot of proving to do as far as I am concerned. He played OK last week, nothing bad happened (thank god) but nothing really special happened either (except we won) . When he shows me he can be more consistent I may start to turn the corner, but as of now I am far enough away to where I can’t even see the corner. I don’t hate him. I just don’t think he is a starter in this league. I think the Vikes made a mistake. BUT, I really hope I get proven wrong!!!! I truley do

  33. By vikes- or - die on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

I like the idea of starting Griff and Allen on the ends and rotating Robinson. Griffen is a little more explosive with greater size and strength. He creates havoc. Mix Robinson in. Roinson is quick with skills and if a “O” lineman thinks he can rest a little easier with Robinson in, he will find out how wrong he is. We have alot of versatility. It’s a beautiful thing. Hopefully we can play it to the tune of a win.

  34. By BlueBird7 on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

We might just have that gem you speak of, Webb for one, MGT the other.

That is if either one ever gets on the field long enough to throw a ball.

  35. By MuskyFever on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

@ BB7…. i think you meant MBT, not MGT MeCloud Bethel Thompson… And your right… he very well might be that gem we need

  36. By vikes- or - die on Dec 27, 2012 | Reply

Exactly Guys. I like our QB Situation as it sits. Give Ponder More time to grow. Why look somewhere else when we have to good two QB hopefuls waiting in the wings.

Greenway got snubbed in the Pro Bowl voting. He’s going to play like a man possessed! Green Bay’s going to have a handful with him this Sunday.

I hit the G instead of the B..Thanks..Like Titus, I want to see MBT more.

Also wanted to see what Webb could have done this year’s Regular games.

Happy Holidays Everyone! Now back to reality…The Packers defense hasn’t been this healthy in months(-Woodson). A.P. 100 yards MAX guaranteed. Please stop sipping the purple kool-aid.Matthews is back for the match up, Nelson too. Realize this is coming down to the MVP versus a 2nd team QB at BEST. Happy New Year LOSERS!!

The record matters to Peterson, he wants it and the team along with making sure they win had better do their best for him to get it.

Stupid cheeseheads, their all going to be purple in the end.

umm.. Cali Bry.. The MVP is on our team. We call him ALL DAY!!! Your QB has not been the MVP for…. is it…..3 years now… so shut your face.

Rogers is the biggest complainer and most unprofessional athlete I have ever seen in sports histroy. The dude does nothing but complain about game he lost, or things that didn’t go his way. Not only that but the QB is supposed to be the guy that take the blame for a loss… HAHAHA, NOT ROGERS!!!! He deflects everything on either the refs, other parts of the team or other stupid excuses. I can sum Rogers up in four words… OVER RATED CRY BABY!!!

Rodgers has no class? Are you high dude? He was MVP last year you idiot. He also is a Superbowl MVP, something the Queens can only dream about. How many Superbowls have the Queens won? Oh yeah….NONE! BWAHAHAHA!
    Maybe next century. :)

  47. By BlueBird7 on Dec 29, 2012 | Reply

What Muskyfever is trying to sink in your thick skull is winning a Superbowl,

or MVP, has NOTHING to do with “Class”!.

  48. By pack13timechamps on Dec 29, 2012 | Reply

So have Muskyfever show me ONE instance where Aaron deflected blame on anyone but himself for a bad game. Rodgers has more class than your entire organization. Anyone up for a cruise on Lake Minnetonka? LOL!
You guys are just jealous of our team and the fact that we win championships.
Prepare for a stomping at the Humptydump. Another NFC North sweep for the Packers, two years in a row thank you very much. Tell your guys to get out the golf clubs, their season is over Sunday. Buhbye now…..

You guys ever see the pub trick where you take an empty cigarette pack wrapper (the clear stuff), stand it up with the opening down, and ask someone what it is?
It’s the Vikings trophy case! :)
