Sunday A Homecoming For Peterson As He Pursues History

Posted by Mike Wobschall on December 22, 2012 – 3:18 pm

The Vikings don’t play again at home until next week’s season finale against the Green Bay Packers. But you’ll have to excuse Adrian Peterson for a feeling somewhat at home this weekend when he and the Vikings travel to Houston to take on the Texans.

Peterson grew up in Palestine, Texas, about a 2.5 drive from Houston, and on Sunday he’ll have plenty of family and friends present inside Reliant Stadium cheering on the Vikings and watching him pursue history.

“I started getting tickets two months ago,” Peterson explained earlier in the week. “I got two suites. Got 30 tickets. Then I needed 40 more. So I’m going to have over 100 family members. It’ll be fun to go there and leave with a win.”

And it will be fun for Peterson’s family and friends, as well as everyone else at Reliant Stadium and Vikings fans watching from home and other places, to watch Peterson continue his assault on the record books. He is 294 yards from setting a new NFL single-season record for rushing yards, a mark currently held by Eric Dickerson, another Texas native. He can also tie Earl Campbell, yet another Texas native, for 150-yard games in a season; Peterson has 6 such efforts and Campbell had 7 in 1980. Also, Peterson’s next run of 50+ yards will set a new single-season record, as he’s currently tied with Barry Sanders, who had 7 in 1997.

I agree with Titus … What good is destroying Ponder RIGHT NOW ???

It cant wait until the playoff run is over? maybe Monday? we havent been under .500 all season and Ponder has taken a beating. Some of which was deserved and some wasnt. Support the team at least until there is no playoff picture because attacking a winning team is ridiculous.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Houston is the clear favorite at home, as the Texans have odds of -9.5 points against the Vikings. The over/under total has been set at 43.5 points. Houston is 12-2 on the season, 6-1 at home and 9-5 against the spread. Minnesota is 8-6 on the season, 2-5 on the road and 6-7-1 against the spread

The Minnesota Vikings have gained some depth in their secondary as they prepare for a must-win game against the Houston Texans.

The team announced Saturday that cornerback Chris Cook has been added to the active roster. Cook was moved to injured reserve under the “designated-to-return” tag after suffering a broken arm in a Week 8 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

At the time of the injury, Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said the best-case scenario for Cook was a return for the playoffs if the Vikings advanced. Cook beat that projection by two weeks, and re-enters a secondary tasked with stopping Texans wideout Andre Johnson, who has been on a vicious tear in recent weeks.

Cook started Minnesota’s first seven games, though it’s unclear what his role will be Sunday when the Vikings travel to Houston.

The Vikings also promoted defensive end George Johnson from the practice squad. To make room, the team waived tight end Allen Reisner and guard Mark Asper

Parkway I have another Fun Fact for your inquisitive truth seeking mind …

National Security Study Memorandum 200: Implications of Worldwide Population Growth for U.S. Security and Overseas Interests (NSSM200) was completed on December 10, 1974 by the United States National Security Council under the direction of Henry Kissinger.
It was adopted as official U.S. policy by President Gerald Ford in November 1975. It was originally classified, but was later declassified and obtained by researchers in the early 1990s.
The basic thesis of the memorandum was that population growth in the least developed countries (LDCs) is a concern to U.S. national security, because it would tend to risk civil unrest and political instability in countries that had a high potential for economic development. The policy gives “paramount importance” to population control measures

Ya, for sure the Texan’s are no joke. But if we play our brand of football and don’t let off the pedal, and play aggressive every single snap that will open up the game. We have something special in the make.

Today, lets ALL get behind our team no matter what. They need are support today maybe moreso than at any other time. We have accomplished something that very few teams can say. Bouncing back on what was a “rebuilding year” and going from 3-13 to 8-6 thus far. Granted, AP is the beast of burden to help carry us to victories but we should be proud regardless. Last year, our team was only ever mentioned because “we were in the cellar” in the NFC. At least today, this team is being mentioned more in a positive light for how they keep clawing their way back up out of the ashes. We need to be proud of this teams accomplishments regardless of how they came about. Today, we not only want a “W” added to our column. We want to wish AP all the best in what he has achieved thus far and continue to support him with reaching his goal. Soooo, stand behind this team in full force, not only today but next week as well. I believe that the “hunger” they have to quench will not denied. GOOOOOOO VIKINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just hope that some of the Stadium designers for Viking’s.

Will take note of the Edifice of the Texans and see if anything is, or could be used

in building the MN Viking’s Tourist Trap.

Last Viking /Texan game played MBT passed for 193 yards.

When Ponder gets run over by the Watt train, put MBT in or Webb.

Would like to see some of the rust rubed off those two.

Wow, there is nobody outside of the Vikings team and fans that believe we will win today. Same thing we heard about San Fran. I have faith in the Vikings, we are going to win this game. Go Vikes Go

Texans favored by 9 1/2 points. mainly because we don’t have a qb

Enough with the Ponder bashing, he needs work and may never fully develop, but crying about it constantly is someothing only Packer Fans do.
