Vikings Launch “Twenty-Eight For 28″ Campaign

Posted by Mike Wobschall on December 18, 2012 – 1:30 pm

There are many reasons Adrian Peterson’s 2012 season is beyond remarkable. With two games to play, Peterson already has a career-high 1,812 rushing yards, is on pace to become just the 7th RB in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season, and has his sights set on Eric Dickerson’s single-season record of 2,105 rushing yards. This is all happening less than a year removed from reconstructive knee surgery.

More remarkable than all of those numbers and statistics, though, is the fact that Peterson’s sensational individual effort has contributed to the Vikings turnaround. A 3-13 team a season ago, Peterson and the Vikings have taken a major step forward this season and are 8-6 with just two games remaining.

With Peterson pacing the Vikings to this improvement, the team has launched a social media campaign called “Twenty-Eight For 28” to help spur discussion and advance the argument that he is the NFL’s 2012 MVP. The campaign, which began today and will run through the rest of the regular season, and will include 28 reasons the organization believes Peterson should be named the NFL’s MVP.

Some of the reasons will be highlight clips, some will be images, some will be opinions from analysts and other NFL personalities. Each of the reasons will be good, and when all is said and done, the creative, fun campaign for fans will provide a complete argument that promotes Peterson as the MVP.

The campaign can only be viewed on your computer and not through mobile phones. Check out the campaign and Reason #28 by clicking here.

We will have the best defense in the league next year

I think the Vikings are going to have the #1 pass Defense and the #3 rush Dfense. and 2nd most in turnovers by mid season next year. H. Smith is the New Ed Reed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, this not being able to post stuff is really getting on my nerves

    OTK….
The vikings don’t have to win out, we have to win in Houston, that will give me more confidance about the playoff run. But because we are not in charge of our own destiny, I am still not going to get my hopes up. I don’t want to invest everything I got, just to be disapointed. If we win out and still don’t make it, I will be disapointed but on the flip side I would also be happy that we did everything we could…… But if we make it, I will be OVERJOYED!!!! The only thing that potentially bothers me, is having this team do everything perfectly and still not making it in. That would bother me some.

AP deserves it more then anybody. There isn’t one player more VALUABLE to his team then him. Without AP the vikings are lucky to match last years win total

    b u m b e d.

Wobby, this is another stupid word to outlaw. Can you change all the words on your “not allowed” list back to allowed that have NOTHING to do with swearing or foul laungauge

I was really hoping we could get Ogletree in the first and Sylvester Williams or Kawann Short in the 2nd but the latter 2 have been moving up in the rankings lately into the first round.

Without AP, I am not sure that we have any wins this year

  11. By AP The Record Breaker on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Without AP Ponder’s career would be shattered by now for losing his first 7 games of the season while throwing close to 15 int’s by that point haha

  12. By Parkway on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

If we only had Toby, we probably have 2 wins right now, maybe.

  13. By Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

If we didn’t have AP, we would have seen Webb play. And MBT. And Sage would have returned.

I will cheer for you then, Musky !!!…

Because the Vikings have met my expectations this year…All they have done so far…Is what I was hoping for at the beginning of the season…

I was hoping with solid coaching…The Vikings would go at least 8-8 this season..(I predicted 9-7..But I usually predict an extra win…Because I am a fan first..lol)…

So the Vikings can’t let this fan down anymore…They met my expectations for this season…The rest is just icing on the cake…

Sure I want more…But can’t complain here if they lose…When they meet my expectations for the season…

    I am not greedy…This team is getting better…MUCH better…In many areas…

And has a VERY good young foundation for their future…No matter what happens yet this season…

They can’t fail this fan anymore…

Sure, I will be bu mmed if they lose…But plenty happy if we can still hand the Packers a loss…Or AP gets the all time rushing record…

This season has been a winner for the Vikings…Win or lose this Sunday !!!

    At least for me…lol

  16. By MuskyFever on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

The team has met my expectations, the D has met my expectations, Harvin met (befroe he got hurt) my expectations, AP and Walsh far exceeded my expectations.

Our OC and our QB have not met my expectations. They have a lot of proving to do as far as this fan is concerned.

There are certain aspects of the team that have nothing left to prove and aspects of the team that still has everything left to prove. Leaves a lot open for the unknown

It will be interesting to see if we draft a later round QB that our scouts like to compete with Ponder, I would doubt it, but you never know.

  18. By OTKalil2012 on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Unless, Spielman is in love with either Webb or MBT ???…

I fully expect Spielman to draft a QB…And could do that in any round 1-7…

  19. By Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Once again, I am on the same page as OTKalil- no question Spielman goes for a QB. Spielman is football genius.

  20. By Parkway on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

But I thought you guys thought Ponder was the next coming of Elway? Why would they draft a QB then?

  21. By Parkway on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

If Jones/Bray/Glennon/Nassib/Boyd somehow fell to the third round I think they would be foolish not to draft them.

  22. By Parkway on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Although if we could get Cousins for only a 3rd I would probably do that too.

  23. By Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Parkway, do you read my posts or scan them? I called for Ponder to be benched weeks and weeks ago– right at the fourth quarter of the Tampa game when momentum shifted our way and we had a full quarter down by 14 — at home. You cannot fit me in a box and label my stance on Ponder. I am surprised with your self-proclaimed inside knowledge of world powers that you judge my position on a superficial scan.

  24. By Ponder AKA 3 and out on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

i want to talk to that guy who said a dallas win a last Sunday would help us out. now Dallas has a chance to win the nfc East with 2 more wins! we DON”T want Washington in a race for the wildcard! the guy is a total id iot!

  25. By Parkway on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Titus, you said Ponder will be a great QB and all of us “bullies” will be proved wrong. You flip flop so much it’s probably difficult for you to keep track of your own BS.

  26. By OTKalil2012 on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

I do think Ponder will be a good QB…But competition draws out the best in a player…

And QB’s are a great value if given time to develop…Teams do much better…With solid back ups on their benches…Add Starter QB injury to concerns…

    Vikings should draft a QB…But like I said…

Unless, Spielman believes he has the answer with Webb or MBT ???…

  27. By Dr. Remulak on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Dallas and Washington play each other the last week of the season. One of those teams will finish 9-7 at best.

We just need the Giants to lose at Baltimore this sunday and we’re in, provided we win out.

  28. By OTKalil2012 on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

    I am a guy…That believes a team should always carry 3 QB’s on a 53 man active roster…

And the number 3 QB should always be a solid young developmental QB…imo…

  29. By MuskyFever on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

I am a Baltimore fan anyway, but if them winning means Vikines get into Playoffs (granted we win out) then I am all for that! SKOL RAVENS!!!!!!!!! SKOL VIKES!!!!!!!!!!!

  30. By Dr. Remulak on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Yeah, if the Giants lose then the winner of the Dallas/Washington game wins their division and gets in the playoffs that way.

  31. By OTKalil2012 on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

    Titus…

    I agree…Spielman is one smart cookie…

Thats why I think he drafts a QB…

Spielman has said many times already…That Ponder is a 3 year project…At the end of that time, himself and the Vikings staff will do a total evaluation on Ponder after next season…To see If they believe he is the Vikings franchise QB going forward…(basically offering him a contract extension, most likely)…

That doesn’t mean Spielman is going to neglect the QB position until then…

  32. By Dr. Remulak on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

There is a slim chance Seattle loses out and finishes 9-7. They have been beating up the rest of the league pretty good this year but are only 1-3 in their own division. And their last 2 games are division opponents (9ers and Rams).

I can’t see them losing both, especially since how good they’ve been playing. But like I said, there is a slim chance and that would free up another wild card spot.

Titus … Yup Tampa Bay game was when I gave up on Ponder.

  34. By Shawn on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

OTK … Same here 8-8 was my prediction and I was skeptical to make it 8 wins. This team did it. Frazier has my support. I hope he and Spielman remained focused and fix the pa’ssing game. Also improve the defense more.

  35. By Shawn on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

I agree with those who think a QB in the upcoming draft is the right approach.

    QB
    WR
    OG
    DT

    Dwayne Bowe

    OC

I bet the Giants (@Baltimore) and Dallas (vs. Saints) both lose this sunday.

Giants are stalling out and Dallas will just plain choke at home.

  37. By Shawn on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

If the P3ckers can have arguably the greatest QB in NFL history and still draft Aaron Rogers in round 1 … Vikings drafting a QB despite having Ponder should be a no brainer.

  38. By Parkway on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

If Jones/Bray/Glennon/Nassib/Boyd somehow fell to the third round we need to get one of them.

My bet is…IF…the Vikings win this Sunday….

By the end of all games Sunday…My bet is the Vikings will be in control of their own destiny…Going into the Packers game…

And will not have to “scoreboard watch” during that game…

  41. By OTKalil2012 on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

    Draft for me…

    ILB is number one concern…

    DT
    WR
    QB
    OLB

I like our O-line…Fusco getting stonger of late…Sign Loadholt and Shwartz to extensions…Hoping Love can be a starter this coming season…

    P…Enough of Kluwe…

  44. By GrandDaddyPurp on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Best Player Available. If it doesnt fill a need then it gives us depth.

    PAY PERCY

  45. By Tomcat on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

We also need to sign a receiver in free agency, in addition to drafting 1 or 2. Rookie receivers sometimes don`t do much their 1st year. We need a sure thing, even if it is a 2nd tier type of guy, we need someone with a history of producing in the NFL. We also need to pay Percy.

  46. By Parkway on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

BPA is stupid if it isn’t a need

  47. By Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Parkway, how stoopid would it have been NOT to draft AP or Moss if there was no need?

  48. By Parkway on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

How STOOPID would it be to draft another RB right now?

  49. By Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

And I will go one further– it it does not fill a need, it gives us depth– and if that player is an AP or Moss– it gives us leverage for a lot of future picks.

  50. By Tomcat on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

On the other hand, when we had Carter, Moss, and Reed would you draft a wr #1 just because he was the BPA?

  51. By Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Ha ha ha– Tomcat, did you read my mind?

  52. By Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Well, Parkway, great running backs like AP are rare– if one were in the draft, I would say go for it. It is called intelligent design– AP will be 30 in a few short years. It would be stooooooooooopid not to.

  53. By GrandDaddyPurp on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

    BPA

    PAY PERCY

  54. By Parkway on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

We needed a running back when AP was drafted and we needed WR when Moss was drafted, Carter was old and Reed was never that good. So might not have been the top need, but it was still a need. Things we should not consider drafting til the 5-7 rounds: DE, OT, RB, TE, S, C

  55. By GrandDaddyPurp on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Drafting because of ‘need’ got us Ponder. BPA all the way!

    PAY PERCY

  56. By GrandDaddyPurp on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

BPA except the positions Parkway listed. But still BPA.

    PAY PERCY

  57. By Parkway on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Exactly, that’s my point. BPA for our needs, not outright.

  58. By Tomcat on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

This is a scary matchup we have with the Texans- we will have to play our best game to beat `em.

  59. By GrandDaddyPurp on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

Thats always been my point. Just because we need a No. 1 receiver doesnt mean we should take one in the first round when there is a DT or an OG who is better at their position than the receiver some would want us to pick.

  60. By Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply

    Pay Ponder.

  61. By Tomcat on Dec 18, 2012 | Reply
