Leonard Wilf To Serve On Board Of New NFL Charitable Organization
Posted by on December 12, 2012 – 6:03 pmYouth football, health and safety, and community will be the focus areas of the newly created National Football League Foundation. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced the formation of the new organization on Wednesday at an NFL meeting in Dallas.
Leonard Wilf will serve on the board.
The announcement follows the restructuring of the NFL’s previous charitable arms — NFL Charities and the NFL Youth Football Fund. As a result of this change, the NFL will be able to devote more resources to its goal of making a difference in the lives of those touched by football – from players at all levels of the game to the broader community.
The foundation will award more than $23 million in grants in 2013 to support youth and high school football programs, health and safety efforts, as well as community health initiatives, including NFL PLAY 60.
“We are proud of the NFL’s long-standing history of giving back to communities,” said Commissioner Goodell. “The board of our new foundation is a passionate group of individuals who will help to ensure the NFL continues to be a leader in philanthropy.”
Wilf is in his 8th season as Vice Chairman and Owner of the Vikings. In addition to his ownership and management role, Mr. Wilf plays a leadership role in Vikings community relations efforts and charitable giving. Since becoming owners in 2005, the Wilf family has led a significant increase in Vikings outreach programs, financial support and impacts on the community. For the past several seasons, the Vikings have seen 100% of their players participate in community outreach efforts. The organization has also built playgrounds at seven disadvantaged neighborhood schools as part of an annual team ownership initiative.
Joining Wilf on the board are:
Charlotte Jones Anderson, Executive Vice President/Vice President of Brand Management/President of the Charity Foundation, Dallas Cowboys
Michael Bidwill, President, Arizona Cardinals
Shahid Khan, Owner, Jacksonville Jaguars
Mary Owen, Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning, Buffalo Bills
Mike Reinfeldt, Senior Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, Tennessee Titans
Arthur J. Rooney II, President, Pittsburgh Steelers

@Northwoods v2,
Jones read Arif’s article. FredDogg would have to say there were some fair comparisons in there. Although Jone don’t not likie all the new staties, it PROBABLY raises some good points.
Joe Webb has a better chance of being the next Terry Bradshaw than Ponder does. However Ponder could be a Tarkenton, but then again Tark didn’t have the early career struggles.
In fact, few QBs have had the struggles of C. Ponder. Perhaps it’s all mental and he’ll pull out of it. (or maybe ONE GUY is not holding his block long enough, or the WRs, etc.)
The article did point out that Joe Webb is not getting a chance. It’s like no kidding, HE HAS NOT PLAYED YET IN 2012!

Many greats struggle early on– that is why they become great– they are overthinkers and overachievers and have not had enough time to develop– but suddenly they flourish– and I am telling you all right now– you can mock and laugh– but Ponder will be a great QB.

Ravens D was awesome and then the Buccs D … those teams just imposed their will on opponents
Dont allow the opponent to score and just slam the ba’ll down their throat with Walter, Jamaal Lewis, and AP …
Running teams with great defense is so much more intimidating than Erin Rodgers and the Green Bay D that cant stop anything except Ponder

AND as far as playing time we all remember when QBs have had difficulties getting some, and they became great.
John Unitas (played sandlot football his rookie year-Bloomfield Rams)
Bart Starr (was not a starter until his 5th season)
Kurt Warner (Heck this guy couldn’t start in college at the Univ of Northern Iowa, he finally started his senior year!) Along with NFL Europe, the Arena League, and the NFL, how many years did it take him to start in the NFL? 5 years? 6 years?
7 years?
Ken Stabler (full-time starter as a 4th year player)
Brian Sipe (3rd season)
Randall Cunningham (3rd season)
Rich Gannon (almost NEVER became a full-time starter, and became the best in the league for two years towards the end of his career. A former Viking)
I believe all these guys had at least one Pro Bowl (Go ahead correct Fred)
Can Joe Webb play? The jury is out on that, but give him a chance!!!

This fan doesn’t “flip flop”…I like Ponder a lot when drafted…And like Ponder a lot right now…
Does Ponder have things to work on…Of course…most very easy fixes…Decision making at times, footwork, and mechanics…No big deal..
At least he isn’t doing dumb things like fumbling the ball from the C on the snap…Or have the C stepping on his feet tripping him going back in his drop…Or tripping over the RB on a hand off exchange…Fumbling the ball away in the shotgun snap…The list goes on…
And if you think these type of things are minor ???…Then I’m sorry..You know very little about football…
Ponder has a poor receiver core…And the Vikings have an outstanding run game…
With an O-line that has average pass blocking skill (so far)…And very good run blocking skills…
And the Vikings have the best RB in football….
So that is why Frazier and Musgrave will be running the ball every down, or whenever possible…
Ponder and the passing game will be a big part of this offense next season…But so will AP…Just more balance…
Its coming…Just not this season…This season is on AP…
By Kathy P on Dec 13, 2012 | Reply
@ OT: I agree with you for the most part. BUT, I’m still not sure about Ponder. Will he be able to get rid of his “happy feet”, and will he not look like a “scared rabbit” as he unfortunately does almost the entire game? Still lots of questions to be answered for sure. I do, however, think that these coaches need to be very aggressive and go after some “decent picks” this coming year in the draft. They need to find some scouts who are not mentally-challenged as well. AND, I wouldn’t be to fast about disregarding a possible pick-up with FA as well. One can only hope that our team can continue to grow, but I for one don’t want to wait another 3-5 yrs to get this team in shape to be known as “contenders” in the NFL.
By OTKalil2012 on Dec 13, 2012 | Reply
Kathy P…
I agree…Ponders foot work has been “interesting” of late for sure…For many reasons…Not just running from pressure situations…I think he gets to excited when he sees a play…And feels he has to rush all his mechanics to make a play…Before the window closes also…
Ponder needs how to learn more inside the pocket…And Ponder has gotten VERY sloppy with his footwork…And rushing and not stepping into his throws…
It’s similar to AP and the running game earlier this season….AP is getting better as the season goes on…Because he is reading his holes better now…Taking time to let the O-line open holes for him…
Ponder needs to relax…Ponder has more time than he thinks he has…To move around and avoid the rush…Before planting and setting up to throw the ball…To side step a DE…And move up in the pocket…Instead of bailing out…etc..
Ponder will get there…Just need WR’s that can get quicker separation and better hands…Like Percy did before injury…

By OTKalil2012 on Dec 13, 2012 | Reply
I think if we still had Percy, and the development or Wright…That this teams defense with the running game and AP…We were “contenders” this season…To do well in the playoffs…
I thought with Harvin and Wright…Balance that off with AP and the running game…And our solid defense…
That this Vikings team had a GOOD shot going into the playoffs…
This team is not polished or fancy by any stretch of the imagination…
But it is a “meat & potatoes” blue collar team…That can get the job done…With young strong backs of several players that can help carry the load…
Harvin being out of that equation hurts a lot…But nothing says other players can’t find a way to pick up the slack ???…
There are 3 games left…I will be cheering for my Vikings…I know that at least…
Anything else…I leave to luck and a odd shaped ball…That can bounce in any teams favor the rest of this season…;-)

I am hoping for 1- 2 TD’s and 125 – 150 yards and 0 ints from Ponder….
I know that doesn’t sound like much…But if it happens…I know Frazier and Musgraves game plan will have went as planned with the running game and AP…
And the Vikings will most likely win if that is the case… : )

Draft Justin Hunter or Terrance Williams we don’t need to throw big money at Dwayne Bowe I would rather see us give Harvin that money.
Receivers- Justin Hunter or Terrance Williams at the outside along with Gregg Childs, Harvin asst the slot with Wright being our number four.
If we miss out on Mike Glennon draft Tajh Boyd or Denard Robinson in the 3rd or 4th round one of those guys will be the Russell Wilson of the draft.
