Ponder I think still needs more time to develop, that being said I think that Joe Webb is hurting himself and the team by not embracing the idea of possibly playing WR position or at least being a decoy out there, giving defensive coordinators somethings else to worry about Yes I saw the post about his stats as a receiver. I still contend he is in the mind set that he will be a starting QB in the NFL and is not willing to use his God given ability to play receiver. In my opinion he is closing the door on his NFL career very quickly. Carrying around a clip board for the entire season isn't exactly going to make him a hot commodity when he does become a free agent and allow him to command a very lucrative contract. Here's and idea for Mr. Webb do what ever it takes to get your but on the field and contribute to the team, or the NFL as Gerry Granville put it can also mean "Not- For -Long" as far as your career goes . I believe Webb could be a top receiver in this league, but is of the mind set that he is a QB and not willing to put forth the effort needed to show the team he is a good receiver and that to me is very sad because it could be cost him his NFL career in the end!

northwoodsv2 .....so Webb being targeted 5 times is enough for you to judge whether or not he is suited for that position? If that's the case Ponder should have been gone long ago.

Gilberator.....Did you see any of the games last year when Ponder went out and Webb came in? If you did not I encourage you to find them on the internet, watch them without distraction and post back here. If at that point you still believe that he does not display leadership skills then we will have to agree to disagree. Even when he came into the Eagles game 2 years ago.....a frozen field, not planning on playing as we had the great BF throwing at the time, BF gets knocked out, Webb comes in and leads us to a victory against a very good Eagles team.

We tried plays with Webb as a WR last year. The fact that nobody remembers that is testament to his WR abilities.

Allow me to refresh - he was targetted 5 times, with 1 (one) reception for a total of 9 yards.

haedter7-I agree Joe should be put into the game. I was an early advocate for Webb to be put in the WR position but it doesn't make sense now with him being a QB for so long. He would have to learn a different position and that just doesn't make sense
. Wildcat plays or trick plays like that would be a great idea.

Reguardless if Joe Webb is playing qb or not the guy needs to be on the field. He is the best athlete on our team. If you ask me he should be playing the exact same positon as Percy. Going deep, running, basic routes ,going in motion, taking bubble screens, a few plays at wildcat here and there. At least give other teams something to prepare for other than AP and Rudy. Before kapernick was the starter for San Fran he got plays in the red zone. Why cant we do that with Joe?? Imagine how much better our running game(and our passing game for that matter) would be if we had another guy on the field who could score(running or throwing) at any moment. Thats just me. Unfortunately not Frazier/Musgrave.

Kathy P-I agree for the most part and you said it yourself. Loadholt IS a joke. He has ruined drives many times. Everyone besides Sullivan and Kalil are jokes most of the time. Thats why Ponder looks scared or perhaps bewildered that his lineman cant block more than 4 seconds! Evaluate this offense. Peterson gets the ball, our team is ready to get him yardage. Ponder gets the ball, sub-par receivers try to get open, lineman crumble while ponder tries to get it off. Yes, sometimes Ponder has plenty of time in the pocket to throw and sometimes there are receivers wide open waving at him but if we can improve the positions around him, I feel it will create better chances for Ponder to prove himself. By the way, im just discussing im not bashing anybody at all. Just trying to stick my opinion and ideas out there like the rest of you. Just figured i would mention that :)

autobon7- Webb is not the answer. Why must all of you think he is! We wouldn't have Ponder right now if Webb was that good. Ill tell you whats happening. The combination of Ponder's mistakes and the WR/Offensive line mistakes makes all the Vikings fans Ponder naysayers. Why don't we fix whats around him and THEN evaluate him. Hes got no time to throw in most cases and that leads to his WR not getting open. There is no star WR on this team besides Harvin. Thats not good enough. These guys have got to step up. Im not saying ponder is amazing, far from it, but with time I think he could be a good QB. Wouldn't it be amazing if we just stuck with him and drafted for a better TEAM and became successful? Then we wouldn't have wasted a 1st round pick. That would be a great thing. We are winning games still and if thats not good enough, you guys need to change your outlook. Vikings are already 4 games above their season win projection. Webb is a leader? Who do you even know that? How does he lead this team? I like Webb alot but c'mon man! Are you four?
