Peterson Runs Vikings To 14-7 Halftime Lead

Peterson took a handoff on the first play of the game and rumbled 51 yards to set the Vikings up for the first score of the game.
The Vikings wound up scoring two TDs in the 1st half – both from Peterson – and that paced them to a 14-7 lead at halftime. Peterson finished the 1st half with 18 carries and 125 yards rushing.
Bears QB Jay Cutler hit rookie WR Alshon Jeffery for a score near the end of the half to keep Chicago close.

Lets Bench Ponder, he only was 6 completions and One INT. That pass was horrible, he is costing us the game. Its a Team win, not a AP run him till he gets hurt.

OTK, Ponder is too much the wuss, when have you seen him plant his feet? He even made HUGE point of this in his own pressers last two weeks – “I need to set my feet…”

WHY would you blame Aromashodu on that??? Yes, he couldve fought for the ball, go up to its highest point, but he had guys beat by 5-7 yeards and it was so badly FLOATED and undertrhown, THAT is what happens… incomplete or Interecepted.
On Ponder, NOT Aromashodu.Aroma is not a great receiver, so can’t expect a great play from him… but a NFL QB who cannot throw a ball to wide open receiver??? That means he is NOT an NFL QB

I have tried to root for Ponder for as long as I have been able to stomach it, but over the last couple weeks I can’t stand it anymore. It is embarrassing to see him on the field and call him our starting qb. He is unwilling to step up in the pocket or stand in the face of pressure to deliver a pass. He scrambles out of the pocket too early way too often and it just seems that he cannot read a defense. The sad part of all of this is where is the future at qb for this team? What options do the Vikings have via the draft or free agency? At this point I say let Joe Webb finish the season as the starter, it really can’t hurt as he will give us a much better chance to win than Ponder can.

Ponder is out of talent. We now have our own Tebow. Soon we will start losing effort from our guys as they are asked to keep playing un-inspired football. He will never be Manning, Brady, Brees, or even, Luck, Bradford or RG3, so why waste time on him other than the fact MGMT doesn’t want to accept the fact they made a bad financial gamble on him that didn’t pay off….WAR JOE WEBB.

Ponder is not going to his 100 yards again…. sick, just plain sick.
Press ought to just quit talking to him! He has nothing new to say
“I have to keep working, I have to just get better. I can’t keep doing that. I can’t throw across my body, that is the first lesson of a QB. I have to just put this behind me. I have to get better. I am just going to keep working hard.”

Vkes- or -die you shut the f-ck up already. If Ponder wants respect from fans he has to play like it, even on the jenkins catch it was thrown too high, if it was not for jenkins it would have been tipped and an interception.
What would have happened today if defense didn’t have those 2 interceptions, yes Ponder would have been embarassed.
Fans can raise their concerns, Ponder is too nervous behind the pocket even if there is good protection, look at Nick Foles today you can tell a fighter and leader from what you watch on tape.

Erik, TC, and etc.,
When the Vikings drafted Ponder, Frazier said he was so excited to have a “franchise Quarterback” to develop.
And Ponder is Spielman’s boy. To play anyone else would be to risk getting fired.
Lastly, it can take 5 years to develop a quarterback fully. Not many QBs can step in like RGIII, and Cam Newton, and play well right away.
Jones thought Joe Webb was our QB since they drafted him. He has a lot to prove, but deserves the opportunity.

Great win today but I am still very concerned about our lack of a passing game. I like what Jimmy johnson said about AP. After AP’s knee injury and his carrying the team on his back, he will soon have back problems, could his comment be directed at Ponder, don’t know, just saying, have a nice day everyone and enjoy this win for a week.

The QB is most important Position on the field. But only because he handels the ball the most and because his decision making is important because of that fact. We have 53 players on the team and because of that we won the game. And because of that I am very hope full. That is exactly what we want if we want a championship team.

I agree we need to substitute the quarterback. Let him start the next game. But sub for him. It changes the game.
Seldom have I seen a team this stubborn to keep an underperforming player on the field.
Sure they don’t sub for Flacco, Brady, Rivers, etc., but those QBs are winning and still having 300 yard games once in a while.
That is a different situation entirely.

Get off Ponders back. He is who he is. It is what it is. Ponder will find his way. But more importantly our organization has put together a heck of a football team! How about our defense and the special teams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. GREAT JOB LESLIE FRAZIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gosh…As conservative as the Vikings played in the passing game today…
You would have thought AP must have scored 2 TD’s running the ball in the first 5 mins of the game and had us off to a 14-0 lead ???…
Oh wait ???…That’s what happened…
The only time the Vikings really tried to pass today…Was to keep the run effective…
It worked…Vikings won…
Ponder missed one big play late in the first half to Wright…Ponder has got to work on his mechanics !!!…
AP played GREAT !!!…Did I say Vikings WON !!!!…
Defense played AWESOME !!!…We won !!!!…
KLuwe kicked very well…We WON !!!….
Let Sherels catch ALL kick offs !!!…AJ Jefferson almost lost all of the Vikings momentum fumbling that kick off !!!…
Sherels handled many punts FLAWLESSLY !!!…
Special teams played VERY well !!!…
GREAT TEAM WIN !!!!!!….
Off to St Louis next week…GO VIKINGS !!!!

Peterson will get his 2000 this year. He is mind boggling. What an incredable athlete and person. But I know Peterson would give up his 2000 yards this year to get into the playoffs. He is the ultaminate worrier.

I take time to disagree and agree with other Vikings fans. I toss out my thoughts on who should go, and why. But I wouldn’t call myself a good fan if I didn’t include some praise….
Adrian Peterson is special. Very special. I’m so proud of his battle against his injury. He has great character, behaves unselfishly when he carries our team, and shows such amazing talent in the game of pro football. When I watch Adrian play, I feel like I’m watching NFL history. I know I am. This is a difficult time for the Vikings; who knows how we’ll look back on this period in 10 years. But I know we HAVE to look at what ALL DAY does for Minnesota. This guy brought a new level of rushing to MIN; to the NFL. And he did it in an era when pasing took over. Maybe last of a dying breed; maybe best of his breed. He knew he had a chance to go to another franchise before we upped his contract. And he knew he might well decrease his shot at a ring to stay with us. But he stayed. “All Day”, “AP”, “a Beast”, “Best running back in the NFL”, “a Machine”, “he’s not human”; he earned every name! Every yard he ever took. We may be distracted now, but we will see the most respected players, coaches, writers, and broadcasters in NFL history sing Peterson’s praises one day. How can I be unbiased when he’s on our team? But I still believe he’s knocking on the door of being the BEST RUNNING BACK EVER TO PLAY IN THE NFL! His style of play often reminds me of how I should conduct my own style of life. Perseverance, overcome, fight, battle, be humble, think of the bigger picture before yourself, never quit, fight some more, believe, support others when you are the strongest, fight more, believe more, battle, NEVER STOP short of your goal Great Viking, amazing rusher, one of a kind human being! SKOL!

Grab some popcorn, turn up the volume, and watch as ALL DAY sets the bar for all running backs in the game of professional football. As he redesigns all the preconceived notions of what a great running back is supposed to look like. If ever there are others who attempt to do what AP has done, I assure you they will have his playbook by their side. He created a new mold. I hope he runs til his hair turns grey and his shoes fall off

Dueyz- That was great! Everybody should realise how lucky we are to have him. Aw, forget it I don`t even have anything to add to what you already wrote. My compliments.

Beautiful, what you said about AP. And still, not enough said. If he does not get the MVP award. What a travisty it will be.

Ya know its funny, but the Eagles have always been a class act ( the are a little crazy, but that’s cool) Why not give the head coach a leave of absence and hire john gruden?

I truly agree what everyone is saying about AP, the guy deserves MVP, he is the ultimate team player and a heck of a good person. if you look up humility in the dictionary it would be a picture of him, AP gives the term “role model” a new meaning. I remember when he was drafted out of Oklahoma and I was hoping that we were going to draft him because he was something special and I was partially right, he is a phenom, words cannot express how wonderful he is and how special he is as a person and I am so very happy he is a Viking, Go AP break the record!!!, GO Vikings!!!!!!!

Hey saddy,
You are stating the obvious. Dont be a idiot.

If Ponder is going to learn anything this week, they need to put on full-gear and blitz the snot out of him. Because that’s what he is going to see in the next (3) games for sure. If JC Watts is in for Houston, Ponder will be on his arse all day long, count on it. ALL the sports commentators, who know what they are actually talking about, stated that a team cannot continue to win games when they are one-dimensional. One dimensional as in AP/DEFENSE winning this game. It doesnt take a rocket-scientist to see that as well. We as fans do appreciate our team and their efforts on the whole, BUT, Ponder isnot, willnot ever be able to develop himself into an NFL QB. He has a Masters Degree, very intelligent. BUT, it seems he can’t seem to comprehend how he is going to develop his skill-set that is so sorely needed in order to progress and show improvement. What’ worse is that Frazier apparently is willing to overlook this, or else, someone “higher up” is telling him to keep Ponder in despite the lousy production.

What is the difference between Ponder and Matt Cassel,, NOTHING!! So that is what we to look forward too!!

Peterson has the power of SIX KINGS!! It doesn’t matter how bad Ponder has been the only thing that matters is how hot he can get in the next 3 weeks and in the future. He has the ability to get on a hot streak if you ask me.
