5 Vikings-Bears Storylines To Watch This Week

Posted by Mike Wobschall on December 5, 2012 – 7:32 am

The Vikings rugged post-bye schedule continues this week as they prepare to conclude their season series against the Chicago Bears by hosting them at Mall of America Field on Sunday. Both the Vikings (6-6) and Bears (8-4) are coming off losses last week, but both are very much in the NFC playoff hunt.

Chicago won the earlier matchup between these two teams back on November 25, a 28-10 victory that was never really in question after the 1st quarter. The Vikings figure to put forth a better effort this week as they return to play at home for the first time since November 11 and as they look to gain ground on a division opponent and keep pace with a handful of other teams vying for playoff positioning.

Here are 5 Vikings-Bears storylines to chase this week…

1. Pressure On Christian Ponder Mount
Christian Ponder completed 75% of his passes for 221 yards with 2 TDs and no INTs the last time he played at home – a 34-24 victory over the Detroit Lions. In two road games since then, Ponder is just 35 of 68 (51.4%) for 278 yards with 2 TDs and 3 INTs. Last week in Green Bay, Adrian Peterson ran for 210 yards and the Vikings defense and special teams groups played well enough to win, yet a sputtering passing game prevented the Vikings from putting the game out of reach and the Packers were able to log a comeback victory. Pressure is mounting on Ponder to snap out of his drought and show the signs of promise he displayed earlier in the season when he wasn’t turning the ball over and was one of the League’s highest-rated passers. The Bears will surely go “all-in” to stop the Vikings elite rushing attack, which means they’ll dare Ponder to beat them.

2. Key Players From Both Teams On The Injury Report
It’s not uncommon for injury reports to fill up this time of year, and the Vikings and Bears will most certainly not be exceptions this week. Percy Harvin has missed the last 3 games due to an ankle injury and his status bears monitoring all week. Also, Vikings Head Coach Leslie Frazier disclosed on Monday that DE Jared Allen underwent an MRI for a back ailment. Expect other odds and ends to show up on the report as well, such as the shoulder injuries LB Jasper Brinkley and TE Kyle Rudolph have been dealing with, knee swelling for RT Phil Loadholt and a rib injury for C John Sullivan.

The Bears are no different. Three players – WR Earl Bennett (concussion), LB Brian Urlacher (hamstring) and CB Tim Jennings (shoulder) – left last week’s loss to Seattle; Urlacher is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. Three other starters – WR Devin Hester (concussion), WR Alshon Jeffery (knee) and G Chris Spencer (knee) – missed last week’s game but are hopeful to return this week in Minnesota. LB Lance Briggs and RB Matt Forte both played last week but are both dealing with ankle injuries, CB Charles Tillman is battling an ankle injury as well, and both DT Stephen Paea and G/C Edwin Williams are playing through shoulder injuries.

3. Vikings Must Contain Bears WR Brandon Marshall
He didn’t get into the end zone against the Vikings two weeks ago, but don’t let that fool you – Brandon Marshall was a thorn in the Vikings side all game. Several times the Vikings had Chicago in unfavorable 3rd-down spots, and several times Marshall bailed the Bears out with a great grab in traffic or a few extra yards after the catch. Marshall had 12 catches against the Vikings two weeks ago and he had another 10 for 165 yards last week against Seattle. Two numbers that illustrate Marshall’s importance to the Bears passing game are 91 and 138: Marshall has 91 receptions in 138 targets this season, while the next highest Bears receiver in each category is 30 receptions for Forte and 43 targets for Bennett.

4. Bear Trap: Can Chicago Stop Adrian Peterson?
It’s not a good week for Chicago to lose their middle LB because they are set to face the NFL’s best RB at a time when he’s playing at perhaps his highest level. Adrian Peterson is the NFL’s rushing leader by 308 yards, has logged 6 straight 100-yard rushing games, is averaging 6.2 yards per carry and is on pace for 1,928 yards (a career best). He nearly single-handedly defeated the Packers last week, and you can count on him trying to do the same to the Bears this week. Even without Urlacher, the Bears have a formidable run defense and will be up for the challenge to stop Peterson. Yes, the Bears will be up for the challenge. But so is Peterson.

5. Rematch: Vikings DL vs. Bears OL
In the matchup two weeks ago between Minnesota and Chicago, many expected the Vikings defensive line to embarrass the Bears offensive line. The Bears were coming off a Monday Night Football beatdown at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers in which QB Jason Campbell was sacked 6 times. Chicago’s offensive line responded, however, and allowed just 1 sack in Cutler’s return to the lineup. Entering this game, the matchup still favors the Vikings on paper. Only three teams have permitted more sacks than the Bears, and the Vikings pass rush at home can overwhelm teams. As we saw two weeks ago, though, this Bears offensive line has the ability to respond.

Why do i desire Ponder to get hurt in this game so we can watch Webb play?
Not hurt bad. Maybe just a light sprain.
Get someone in there who can ignite the passing game.

Jets sticking with Sanchez. I wouldn’t be surprised if they sign Alex Smith in off season.
Also wouldn’t be surprised if Rex Ryan was shown the door after season.

I say at the first sign of issues. Throw a pick, lose a fumble, take off and run 9 out of ten times… They should sit Ponder if only for a series. At least subtely let him know that he can’t do what he just did and get away with it…

The coaches have to establish some type of leadership, to show their team that they are not afraid to do what is needed.. Win or Lose… At least they showed the players that if you Mess up… your getting pulled, easy as that

  7. By Muskyfever on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

I think we needs someone as well to ignite the passing game… but… uh…. I don’t think Jow Webb is going to do that for you.

Now if you want to rack up the rushing yards even more then we are already going to then yes… But If Webb can come in and throw it a few times, I’d be ok with that. I just think his passing skills are about as good or a little less good than Ponder’s

I for one didn’t expect the Vikings to march into Soldier field 2 weeks ago and win….But if not for several dropped pa sses…And AP losing 2 fumbles…And the defense playing terrible…Ponder made plenty of throws, that should have been enough to win that game…

I for one (again) did not expect the Vikings to march into Lambeau field last week and beat the Packers and refs…But if not for Ponder messing up last week throwing 2 red zone ints…AP and the defense should have been enough to win that game…

Both weeks the WR’s let us down..As that same crew has all season (except for Harvin and Wright)…

This week I expect the Vikings “team” to come together at home and WIN this game against the Bears…Even if a certain group of WR’s fail to show up AGAIN….

One way or another…Ponder,AP, and the defense find a way to get it done !!!…

Vikings protect their house at home !!!…And hope the fans do also…

Main reasons I’m watching this game:
    1. To see if AP can rush for at least 125.
    2. To see Ponder get booed off the field.
    3. I can’t help but watch my team even if they suck.
    4. Oh yeah, to hopefully see Jay Cutler get destroyed.

  11. By vikingbob136 on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

I think if Webb played we could all see if he has potential to be a QB and put all this play Joe stuff to rest. As long as Ponder struggles, the requests for Webb or someone else won’t cease.

  12. By OTKalil2012 on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

Do you think if Frazier does put in Webb…The passing game will “improve” ???

Frazier is sooooooo conservative…He doesn’t even trust Ponder to throw the ball ???….With Webb, that scenario will only get much worse !!!…

In the “wild cat” formations Musgrave used to use…How many times did Webb throw the ball the dozen times tried it ???….once ???…

If Webb does make to the field…Expect a very conservative offense now…To get more conservative…MUCH more conservative…

  13. By TC612 on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

If Percy wouldn’t have gotten injured we would be doing a lot better right now.
Anybody can throw a swing pass to someone.
That’s one thing Ponder is automatic at.
    The swing pass.

what this team needs is a carter , moss ,combination of wide outs .the running game takes care of itself.untill then the vikings go no where.

  15. By OTKalil2012 on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

You know how much more respect I would have for Frazier and Musgrave…If they would just come out and say…The only reason we don’t pass the ball a lot more…Is because outside of Harvin and (rookie) Wright…Our receivers suck !!!

I wouldn’t even ask for a new head coach or OC next season…If they would just admit that one thing.Something that is soooo obvious to all the fans !!!…Instead of wondering if they are that dumb…They can’t see the problem !!!

  16. By TC612 on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

I believe that Webb can combine his speed and ability to escape the pocket to maybe get some guys open that Ponder wouldn’t. Ponder’s got decent speed for a QB but Webb is on another level.
I think he can throw the ball well enough that the defense will know there is somewhat of a threat there.
Peterson is always the focal point but It would scare them if Webb busted out a 75 yard td run.
I don’t think he can be an elite quarterback.
But if they would have put him in last week I think we win that game.

Frazier said. “We believe that Chr istian is our No. 1. … That being said, if things get to a point where your No. 1 is really costing you some situations that could preclude winning, you do have to do what’s best for the football team.”

Coach Frazier, just WHAT situations would those be? Overthrowing open receivers? Underthrowing open receivers? Landing the ball 3 yards out of bounds on sideline routes? Throwing across your body with an already suspect velocity problem? An inability to hit a receiver in stride? An inability to scan the field and find the open receiver waving his arms at you? Losing games that we should have won?

If not THOSE situations, what the He!! does he have to do to get benched? Take the snap and hand it to the blitzing CB and point the way to the endzone? Take the snap and turn around and run into the endzone himself? Kick AP in the knee when he’s not looking?

Ponder needs a veteran mentor for a couple years. Continuing to play him this season might be doing irreparable harm.

Some QB’s get thrown into the fire too soon. Ponder might be a guy that needs to sit back and learn for a few years.
Just because some QB’s can be good right away doesn’t mean they all can.
I still think the now old school method of grooming a qb for awhile is the right way for some of these guys.
But that requires patience. Of which I’ll admit, I’m running short on.
If we wanted immediate results, Ponder was just a terrible pick.

I think teams with QB problems should throw in ther 2nd or even 3rd string QBs in and give them a shot. The NFL is loaded with shiity QBs right now.

  34. By Mike B. on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

Ponder is starting the game and we need to support the coaches decision on that. If he is costing the team the game, I am sure that Frazier will sit him. The other games lost with exception of the Green Bay game are not on Ponder. The team as a whole played less than spectacular. It’s not time to throw the plan out on this young team and their young QB. This is not a video game were you get instant results. This is a team building for the future. Webb is ready to step in if called, but for now Ponders the guy. I am ok with that. If we are going to scr@p the plan now you might as well fire the entire coaching staff and the GM too. It’s not about how one player is doing it’s about how the whole team is performing. Right now they are spotty at best.

I know Ponder has a weak skill set.
But If he could vastly improve his techniques and the mental awareness it takes to succeed (which he may never be able to do), he could definitely be an above average starter and a great backup to have…

“franchise QB’…Kind of stands for…The amount of money, time, and how high a draft pick…A team puts into developing a QB…Not so much if he becomes an elite QB or not…

Spielman has mentioned many times…He is devoping 3 years to develoing Ponder into our “franchise QB”…Being a high draft pick…And with money and time spent to develop Ponder…

At the end of those 3 years…Spielman then figures he will know if Ponder is the future of the Vikings or not ???…

That doesn’t mean Spielman will ignore everything that happens in between, within those 3 years…

Will Spielman look at getting another QB in this springs draft to compete with Ponder and MBT ???…(I think Webb is released after this season)…

I like what Spielman has done with the team thus far as GM. I like that we are a young rebuilding team making progress. With that, I was a Ponder apologist for a while, but enough is enough. He shows flashes of brilliance, and then lets you down twice as much.

I would like to see Frazier and Co. take the same philosophy as Harbaugh has in San Fran. Send a message to Ponder as Harbaugh did by benching Alex Smith! Sit Ponder! He needs it! A little competition never hurt any NFL franchise……

I’m still sticking to my guns on my spam bullet points.

Leslie Frazier for DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR…let him do what he does best!

You make a lot os really good points. I too would rather see MBT over Webb. I also think the league is filled with Sh!ty QBs right now. And we all agree that our wide reciever corp is the worst in the NFL.

don’t you think it is funny that last year we have the 32nd ranked pass defense and now we have the 32nd ranked pass offense. Made big steps forward on D and big steps backwards on the offense… So are they saying next year we will have a better Oline but then our Dline will stink worse??? Just sayin

That’s my point. This organization is so stuck with Ponder they probably wouldn’t have picked Andrew Luck.
That’s the kind of Quarterback we need.
A guy with an amazing skill set and upside.
    Not a 4 year project.
Peterson is such a beast he’ll probably still be a top five back in his early 30′s.

Allen, Harvin, and Peterson must realize this team is in rebuilding mode, and they have already been in a championship hunt. They fell one game short. We are rebuilding now, so you stay the course or leave those are the choices you have. These guys appear to be team players and are willing to stick with the Vikings. Maybe some of the fans should look to their example.

Aka 3 and out it doesn’t risk a darn thing. Fans will still buy tickets and go to the games. There maybe some Free Agents that may not want to play for the Vikings, but hey do we really need those guys? If Ponder is name the QB next year it’s because he earned that spot. If we lose the next 4 game and it’s Ponder’s fault, I am sure there will be an open competition next season. I don’t think that the Organization is that dense.

  59. By OTKalil2012 on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

With the very solid draft Spielman had this spring…I very much doubt he will consider any free agent pick ups at all this next season…

How well has Jenkins,Aroma,Simpson,Carlson,Berian, etc, etc…Worked out for the Vikings ???…They haven’t…

But the Vikings have struck gold in the draft in recent years…And have 9 picks coming up this spring…Look for the Vikings to draft their needs…

I would be shocked if we do not release more veterans, than we pick up…
If any free agents at all…

I can see Spielman trading veteran players away for draft picks…But not trading any picks to pick up free agents…That is how the Vikings have lost big through the years…Spielman will put an end to that…

  60. By Mike B. on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

Saying that means that its all on Ponder’s play. Meaning very few mistakes by other vikings players. That hasn’t happened yet. Even in the GB game there was tons of mistakes by the Defense. The defense have give up how many 3 downs? How many costly penalties? Come on guys you really want to put this on One player. I mean really.

  61. By ycc456 on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

    simple solution
    Make ponder back up
    Re-sign Rossenfells as starter

    Back up plan
Start Joe Webb ( used to be a wide out )
    Have him throw the ball
he can run it vs. throwing interceptions ans ponder does when no ones open
Make a trick play to where Webb pitches the ball to Adrian on the right side then he runs a wheel route onto the left side there is a 99% chance that he will be open and un covered then Adrian stops running, plants his feet and tosses it into the end zone to the quarterback and previous wide receiver Joe Webb

    cant loose

I will defend Ponder in every game this season…

But last week…Ponder was a major reason the Vikings lost that game…

I won’t sugar coat that game for Ponder…He was bad…

But does that game make Ponder a bad QB……No..

    2 weeks ago Brees threw 5 ints in a game..He had a bad day…

    3 weeks ago Ryan threw 5 ints in a game..He had a bad day…

Does that make Brees or Ryan a bad QB…No…

    QB’s have bad games…

And does Ponder have the receivers that Brees and Ryan have to throw too ???…

    @ mike B…

What makes you think that Ponder, If named the starter next year earned the spot???? Cause as far as I am concered he is the least productive QB over the last 8 weeks… He has earned a spot on the bench…!!!! If Ponder is selected to be the QB next year, it will be because there is no better option out there, whether it be through Free agency or through the draft. Because there really isin’t a better option right now…unfortenatly!!

Ponder hasn’t earned the respect of his fan base. Hasn’t earned the respect of his star recievers. yet you think because he would start that he earned the right to be the starter… HAHA thats funny

  64. By Muskyfever on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

    @ Mike B.

We would have won that game regardless of all of the D’s mistakes if Ponder didn’t throw to redzone INT’s and more importantly 1 in the endzone. The D, special teams and AP played well enough for us to win… Ponder lost that game, no other way around it. Is it the recievers fault that Ponder under through most of his pass es? Is it the receivers fault that POnder can’t hit them in stride??? Is it the recievers fault that Ponder throws b@lls behind them? Is it the D’s fault that Ponder can’t stay on the field???

    Just sayin

The defense giving up third downs is frustrating but the offense not converting third downs is a bigger problem to me.
Most of the failed attempts are Ponders fault.
So it’s cliche I know, but the defense is on the field too much.
An occasional long scoring drive would increase the defenses effectiveness.
We’ve seen that this defense can be really good.
    Also, I miss Chris Cook.

@ycc Sage is not the longterm answer, so it’s not a move that will happen. I feel we are on the best path to analyze how Ponder will adjust to adversity. I can see Frazier putting in Webb in a sitation where it’s definate that Ponder is costing us the game. He should and must then restart Ponder the next game and get a read on how he handles the situation. We are not evaluating Sage, Webb, or MBT. We are evaluating Ponder.

    @ OTK…

How many pass ing yards did the the QBs have in those two games where they threw 5 picks.. 300??? 400??? How many do you think they would have had without those picks??? NO, Ponder does not have the same recievers but the difference is. One of the two QBs you listed still won the game that week… The other did not, but consistently put up big numbers. Unlike Brees and Ryan, POnder can’t handle quick sand

Outside of Rudolf and (an up and coming rookie) Wright…How many star “receivers” has Ponder been throwing too ???…

Jenkins and Aromashudo are just going through the motions the rest of this season…They KNOW they are done…It’s Frazier that doesn’t understand that…

Jenkins and Shudo are collecting pay checks before being out of football next season…They know that…And have no plans on doing anything to get hurt before that…

Simpson and Burton are just bad !!!…They can’t catch….

  72. By Mike B. on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

The GB game was on Ponder no doubt, but that said doesn’t excuse the play of others on the team. The Bears game was a team loss. I am just saying the overall play of the team is not great including the QB position. At that point we stick with Ponder and see if he gets better. Some think he will not get better, but I am not yet convinced that’s the case. I have seen some dead on laser throws by Ponder and some wobbly ducks. If all the problems were Ponder and he is holding back a championship team, I would be in another place, but we aren’t a championship team.

  73. By vikesfan5.0 on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

Webb is probably a better WR than Simpson Burton Jenkins and Shudo!

  74. By Mike B. on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

Personally looking at our bench and see who is behind Ponder and with the play of the team as a whole. I would play Ponder. Webb isn’t going to be the long term answer for this team and MBT isn’t ready. I would give Ponder the rest of the year. Even if we were somehow to get to the playoffs by sitting him, I think we lose in the wildcard game anyway. This team is just not in the position to get very deep in the championship hunt.

  75. By OTKalil2012 on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

On that overthrown pass to Aromashudo in the Bears game…Did Aroma even TRY to go up after that pass…Maybe at least blocking the vision of the Safety behind him from making an interception ???…No…

Get some young receivers off of practice squads around the league for your team…That are HUNGRY for playing time…And willing to take hits across the middle…Instead of a bunch of chickens worried about being hit, more than catching the ball…

  76. By vikesfan5.0 on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

MBT not ready? Was Ponder ready when they put him in his rookie year or any other rookie QB for that matter?

  77. By Muskyfever on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

I think we have to give Ponder the rest of the eyar, whether I agree with him being on the field or not. But I just don’t see him as the future of this team. I havn’t supported him since the start of his career here. I started to like him… but then we played ARI and I saw his true colors. I also started believing the hipe around his pass er rating and completion percentage.. But then I realized that he hadn’t thrown anything over 5 yards the whole year.

I’m not saying that we should all play in the NFL, but I bet, given the chance most of the people on this blog could do all of those things too. He is not playing at a higher level than he was in college… what is the NFL… a HIGHER LEVEL!!!!!!!!

There was some key drops by recievers against the bears.
That was probably the most legitimate team loss we’ve had.
But, there was also a few chances to hit the rare open guy that he just missed.
He just can’t seem to stand tall and step up into the pocket on a consistent basis.
    Very little pocket presence.
And lately when he tries to be sneaky and escape he just gets tripped up and falls forward for like a 3 yard gain.
I don’t know. I’m getting tired of complaining about Ponder but it’s frustrating to see a suprisingly good start of the season and possible playoff hopes disappear.
Even though it’s getting old I don’t think people are gonna stop beating this dead horse.

What bother me about how we started the season to where we are now. is, everyone knew we were in a “rebuilding year” yet we were winning so everyone started talking about playoffs. There was nothing mentioned about rebuilding after we were winning… NONE!!! then we started to lose a bunch of games and Ponder looked like junk on the field. and the same people came out and said “well you have to understand that are in a rebuilding year” “You kinda had to expect this”… WHAT???? NO I DIDN”T????? THIS IS THE NFL!!!! WE ARE NOT HERE TO LOSE!!!!!!!!! Sure I expected us to stink origanally, but then I saw what this team is capable of. They gave me false hope I guess… People can use the word rebuilding as an excuse to lose… But if you give yourself an excuse to lose, what do you think will happen??? YOUR GOING TO LOSE!!!!!!!! I think Ponder has excepted that… which is why he is not built for this league.. he gave up already.. Just like a bunch of the fans that claim “rebuilding year” Excuses excuses excuses to lose… thats all it is. MAN UP!!!! Play like you know you should, don’t except a loss because we have a young team… SO do the colts and look what happened. In fact their team has less talent then we do… but a good QB can go a he11 of a long way

    I bring news…Not always good news though…

    Percy Harvin, WR, MIN

    Harvin might not return?

News: Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin was held out of practice Wednesday because of a lingering ankle injury, despite reports he was going to attempt to practice. Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said he isn’t ruling out Harvin for Week 14 vs. Chicago, but when asked if Harvin’s season was over, Frazier responded, “Hard to say.” ESPN 1500 reported Tuesday a league source said Harvin has been sidelined the last three games recovering from a Grade 3 left ankle sprain. Harvin’s diagnosis means he suffered a complete ligament tear, which can take 4-6 weeks to heal.
Analysis: Frazier’s cryptic tone Wednesday regarding Harvin was definitely interesting. This is the first time during Harvin’s recovery that him being out the rest of the season was discussed. Perhaps Frazier was just given an honest answer, but this injury has turned out to be more of an issue than the Vikings first believed. Fantasy owners will need to keep tabs on Harvin’s progress leading up to Week 14. The Bears obviously pose a tough challenge for Harvin. Wide receivers are averaging 152.3 receiving yards and 20 Fantasy points per week against Chicago, which is the 10th-lowest average in the NFL. However, Harvin has a decent history against the Bears. He has totaled 36 catches for 470 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 10 carries for 62 yards and one touchdown in six games against the NFC North rival. If Harvin plays but is still not close to 100 percent, then there could be some risk to starting him.

  110. By Parkway on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

Yes the reason people focus so much on our WR drops is because the fans know that the next time Ponder actually throws an accurate pass could take another 500 pass attempts.

The article by Tarkenton aligns exactly with what Aikman was saying during the game – our WR’s can’t beat man coverage. By not being able to beat man coverage, GB was able to free up extra pass rushers. By freeing up extra pass rushers, GB was able to get more pressure on Ponder and more stoppers for AD. By getting more pressure on Ponder, GB was able to make him leave the pocket a lot. By making Ponder leave the pocket GB was able to make Ponder throw on the run, which is more problematic for Ponder. By making Ponder throw on the run, GB was able to make it harder for Ponder to find WR’s who weren’t open. Catch 22.

Here’s an extreme idea. Trade anyone with value right now since their talents will be wasted while we get our heads out of our @sses over the next 2-3 years. Get 3 1sts and 3 2nds for AP, 2 firsts 2 2nds for Harvin, a first and 3rd for JA, a 1st for K. will, a 3rd for Toby.

That leaves us with 5 first round picks next year.
    3 2nd rounds next year
    3 1sts 2 years after next

I dunno a lot of people still regard him as an “elite” DT for some reason.

But the aforementioned radical idea could translate into this:

    1st Round:
    Te’o (ILB)
    Jenkins (DT)
    Allen (WR)
    Hunter (WR)
    Cooper (OG)

    2nd Round:
    Glennon (QB)
    Lacy (RB)
    Poyer (CB)

No college players are guaranteed success… but tell me that’s not a superbowl team in 2-3 years with our current young players. Then adding the 3 first and 2nds for the 2 years to come after.

    That’s a dynasty.

Again a QB has to have a go-to guy that he knows if he throws it in his direction, he will at least make an effort to catch it. Our receivers have no idea how to go up and battle for the ball. Ponder possess all the skills of a Top QB, I am so sick of hearing about his ceiling, his skill set. WHAT PONDER NEEDS IS TIME TO GROW, AND THAT IS WHAT HE IS GETTING. JUST BECAUSE WE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO THE PLAYOFFS, DOESN’T MEAN WE WOULD DO ANYTHING DIFFERENT THEN ONE AND OUT. Every QB goes through rough patches…even Farve did, but when you have confidence in a player that player has no ceiling. These next four games will test his spirit, confidence, and grit. If he comes out decent, then next year the expectations rise.

Brace yourselves Vikings Fans…..Harvin will not be a viking next year. I am just telling you that the signs are there. He hurt his ankle and then he doesn’t travel with the team plue he has gone into hiding. He has been yelling at the coaches. Wright is being groomed for that role. Harvin as much as I like him, will be traded next year. Sell your Harvin Jersey’s soon. He will request a trade next year and the Vikings will trade him for high draft picks. He maybe a Chief next year. If he does stay, I would be shocked. Clay Mathews, Charles Woodson and Sam Shields were at the game, why would Harvin be there.

Parkway–this must come from your extensive knowledge in Pro-QBs…You must be a scout. Sorry if I insult your judgement of talent from the couch you lay on every day you watch a game. Let’s see, he was evaluated by pro-scouts, pro-coaches, and pro-coordinators all of which say he has the potential to do very well at the pro-level.

I think I will take their judgement over a couch potato….

Your ego shows through your writing.

Or are you one of those fans that critisizes other fans because of your ego??? That for some reason you know more about this than any of the rest of us for whatever reason…

your right about one thing though every QB goes through rough patches… it’s unfortenate however that Ponder has started 22 games and played in 23 and his only “patch” that he has had was a good patch and that was the first 5 games of this season… So that was his only good patch. So 22 games minus 5 is 17… so 17 game long rough patch… wait, thats a full season +1. So explain to me (since you clearly know more than the rest of us) when do you expect him to come out of his 8 game “rough patch”…

Or is this Wobbs again and agreeing with yourself in a different manner?

Ha a very arrogant JCdogg, here was one scouts take on Ponder before the draft:

    Pros

    All around good athlete
Extremely accurate on short, intermediate routes
Great timing. Does a very good job hitting right out of their breaks on shorter routes
Quick feet, and has good footwork
    Very quick, and sharp release
Has experience dropping back from center
Battle tested. Started for 3 years in ACC
    Cons

Arm strength is mediocre at best
Not precise on p@sses over 15 yards. Throws a bad deep ball
If first receiver is not open, he immediately takes off or dumps it down. Bad pocket presence
Injuries and durability are a concern. Has had a concussion, had elbow surgery and a separated shoulder
Floats the ball too much. Cannot fit the ball into tight spaces
Really takes time to load up on long p@sses
    Overall

Christian Ponder is vastly overrated, and I really know why he is viewed as a late first, to early second round prospect. If you are looking for a solid backup, and someone who can play a couple games a year and not be a total train wreck, then Ponder would be a fit. But if you are looking for a QB to be the starter, let alone “The Man” do not take this guy. His arm strength is bad, and he just does not have the ability to zip a ball in down the field with any type of coverage on a receiver. He throws a bad deep ball, and cannot fit the ball into tight spaces. Also, if his #1 receiver is not open right away, he immediately looks to dump it down, or take off running, and does not handle pocket pressure well. He does do a good job with his short routes, and has good timing underneath, but he is not a guy with the ability to go out and make a big time throw and win big games. I wouldn’t take him any earlier than the 5th or 6th round, but many people seem to think he has the “Intangibles” and some team will take him as their starter, and they will be disappointed.

    Parkway,

I can pull a scout’s report that has him viewed completely different as well, that call him a sleeper. Obviously, scout to scout differs. My point is that you don’t know exactly what it takes to rate talent at the Pro-Football level….the Vikings staff does and they saw his talent and believe he can be very successful. This is probably the same scout that said Eli will never win as many Super Bowls as his brother….wrong again. What I do see, and it is a trend in the Pros–not the successful teams–is that after one year, they give up on a QB that could develop but are too impatient to wait for that to happen..aka Vikings….This year we have saw some real highs and real lows..that is the pain and frustration that you must go through in order to get the return you want….look at Eli in his third year….you are the type that probably would say the same about him….but how did that pan out for NY….I am saying be patient, grow this kid, tolerate the ups and downs for the future reward…or in business they say NPV…..I have faith he will be a great QB for us.

being frustrated and being a leader is two different things….Moss always frustrated when he isn’t targeted 10-15 times a game, but is he a leader—no. No matter your personal grievances, you support the other 39 players. That means you are there….you are talking to the QB and telling him what you are seeing, that means you are communicating consistently…..thats how a team becomes better. Look at the D-fense. Allen and Williams are always talking about the last series not sitting on a bench pouting cause the other team scored.

Really, do I have to spell this out for you…you have never been in a leadership position have you.

  187. By CaribooBill on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

I can think of three intangible traits that are essential for an NFL QB that I think Ponder has:
    1. Heart – he really works hard and tries hard – he also shows no quit;
    2. Confidence – to me he has shown no lack of self confidence – not sure about his confidence in other team members; and
    3. Character – he doesn’t undermine the team, he doesn’t undermine his team members, he takes responsibility for his own performance, he seems to be self critical, I doubt there will ever be off-field issues.
The only questions to be answered are:
    1. Can he take the pressure? – Sunday will be a great test of that;
    2. Does he have the skill set? – Tarkenton thinks he does – so do Frazier and probably Spielman; and
    3. Can he grow (learn from his mistakes) – we have all heard him talk about “getting better”. When or if that will happen is still an unknown.

  188. By Parkway on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

Tebow also has those “intangibles” except Tebow won a playoff game and he’s still riding pine.

  189. By CaribooBill on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

Parkway – very true. The intangibles are necessary but not sufficient – he has to have the skills, too. You (and others) have made it clear that you think he doesn’t have those skills – I am still not sure – I hope you are wrong but I can’t and won’t say that you are.

  190. By JCdogg on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

True Musky–My comments were a little unfair and I apologize, I get frustrated when i think some have trouble seeing the bigger picture and want to sacrifice long term success for short term gains. Getting to the playoffs and getting bombed out like the giants did to us not so long ago is a bigger deflatetor then just not getting there but know you are only a few pieces away. That is more encouraging. Attitude is great when in the right places, Percy can easily turn into a distraction like this summer (which I defended him), and cause our team to tear themselves apart or end up hurting Percy’s long term career. It is ok to show frustration, but show it on the field where it belongs, not on the sidelines and in the media.

And as for his NFL talent–it takes quite an arm to throw 45 yards from your opposite side while on the run. He has the physical tools and outside of Griffen and Newton is one of the fastest starting QBs in the league.

  191. By QB on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

Anyone beginning to think Percy is in one of those wanting out of Minnesota moods, and has put some type of ultimatum on Frazier that he won’t play as long as Ponder is at QB?

  192. By JCdogg on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

Ponder aka 3 and out…..They knew what could happen when starting an untested QB. They understand it will take time for him to develop. They have bought in to Ponder–we should all follow suit. They all praise him and support him. The outlier is Percy (whom we have heard rumors about), and I am not sure that he is an outlier….just a brat.

Remember fellow purple, we let go of three QBs and all have won super bowls. Johnson, Wilson, Gannon, all three we gave up on early and eventually showed us that short term gains will not work in this league….ask the Eagles….how are all those free agents doing?

  193. By Assassin on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

@ vikingbob136 just stick to football or you just may see me soon.

  194. By CaribooBill on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

JCdogg – good points. Although arm strength is important, accuracy and consistency are also important. Accuracy, I think, is dependent upon hand-eye coordination – can that be taught? I don’t think so.

  195. By JCdogg on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

I think he is hurt and Frazier is letting him pout on his own. This could also be the organization making him sit out as to not increase his stats therefore paying him his bonuses, and trading him for high draft picks. Maybe we can be the benefactors of a Hershel Walker type trade……..Teams have won super bowls without a Percy Harvin type player…..it can happen.

  196. By JCdogg on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

Accuracy is more muscle memory. It is the ability to see a window and let your body use the physics to propel the ball to that spot the same way consistently. It is a learned behavior. Most QB’s reach there final growth period when they are twenty one/two and then they know exactly what tools they can play with. Velocity can be increased to a certain level and then you are tapped out. When I played baseball I played long catch for two years and increased my velocity from high school to college by 20mph (from 65 to 85mph). so over the course of 1 to 2 years, you can become more accurate…it has happened before, and I think Christian can get there.

  197. By JCdogg on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

Tebow has Zero QB talent, but he is a great playmaker….and winning one playoff game does not a QB make. Remember they then were embarrassed by the patriots……enough on tebow.

@ QB, Yes, I am starting to think that. I feel like we have another Moss on our hands. I am afraid to say that to my wife though because she is such a huge Harvin fan.

But lately I have been thinking about it. Personally if you don;t want to play here. Thats fine. I don;t want another Moss type attitude. It’s the over the top type of arogance that really gets on my nerves. I am not fans of people who think they are better than the rest… REGARDLESS of if it is true or not. Humblesness goes a long way in my book

You can see the demoralization of the rest of the team with his poor play. He is putting huge pressures on our defense where they eventually wear down. We fans are tired of loosing due to his play and are even more tired of the excuses made for him.

I still believe in Frazier …. withe the worst secondary in the league last season Frazier gave the same sticking with them faith in them based answers he is giving for our pass O this season.

Despite Fraziers defense of the secondary last season he added Chris Carr, Zach Bowman, AJ Jefferson, Josh Robinson, and Harrison Smith.

    Including a coaching change …

Frazier knew the problems then … even when we, yes me included questioned his football IQ ….

Frazier knows the problems now … HE CANT STAND AT THE PODIUM AND SAY X-Y-Z PLAYER’S SUK.

He cant do it … all of the complainers … did you not know this was a rebuilding year? Did an easy early schedule make you forget how bad this team was?

    I know I forgot … for a moment.

We had the 21st ranked defense last season. We are sitting at 13th right now

    THAT EQUALS IMPROVEMENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last year we couldnt beat anyone … this year we can beat the teams we should beat.

Offensively is a different story … I believe Frazier knows and will work with Spielman to fix it in the coming offseason.

Yep, Percy can’t wait to leave Minny…Ponder didn’t throw the guy a pass all year long that mattered…Even though he lead the league in catches and yardage when he was healthy….

SOME OF YOU GUYS ARE SOMETHING ELSE !!!…

Harvin must be sick with what is happening !!…This team could have won the division with his help…Now those chances dwindle considerably…Because we have no WR’s to take his place….And Harvin knows that…He is our leader at WR….

Think Harvin will go some place else next season ???…I doubt that very much…

Harvin will get paid !!!…And will have a HUGE chip on his shoulder to help this Vikings team out…Being out at the end of the season this year…Not being able to make the play off push….

vikingfanforlife, GREAT post with Fran! Thanks. This sums up, more diplomatically than I ever would, but what I have been saying all along.

HOPE will not make Ponder good, and fans who bought in on the few respectable games he has played started trumpeting about his talent and capabilities….

What he has done is proven many of us correct and he will continue to do so. There are a couple fans here who very reasonably make the point, “The Org is determined Ponder is our guy, so he is playing out the season, like it or not… so why bother fussing” to paraphrase.

Reasonable. But I refuse to buy into an Org committing to garbage because they made a mistake and the HOPE they instilled in the fan base as they made dramatic effort to go get Ponder, FOOLING most in fan base that he was some secret, undiscovered weapon they traded up to get…. He was on NO ONE’s board but ours…. He was 3rd round and back-up all over him, maybe a guy who can learn a system and “manage a game”, but in NO reports was he a gamechanger — we found out he is indeed a gamechanger, but in favor of our opponents.

Fran the Man. You bet. Hope wins you nothing and it gets none of the hard work done.

parkway, great post, as was Spencer’s post of the “Ponder highlights” like bubble screens thrown into the ground about 3 yards away from Harvin… etc.

Not sure what some fans are looking at when they talk about how “good Ponder looks”… or LOOKED, and I still attest he never did. He was luckier than “good” at every point of his NFL career.

It is interesting how the mood has changed for so many – it is reality my friends, and as Fran the Man suggested, living on hope Ponder becomes the QB is vain hope alone – at least he insinuated this by constant remarks about “This organization knows what tey have… but I don’t see him everyday”

Yes, I even believe Frazier knows what he has but the Org for some lame reason is MAKING this team go this route.

But there STILL will be Ponder supporters, and I wonder if they are just sympathetic people or are they only blind loyalists to anything the Org does, trusting they MUST be right because….

  331. By Vlad19 on Dec 5, 2012 | Reply

ponder aka, didn;t think it was possible, but I also remember having lengthy “discussions” with fans back then wh said he was “good, because he could run…”

It is the one sure thing that exposes a fan who does not know the QB position. Give me Big Ben any day of the year over a guy like either Ponder or T Jack….

KNOW the pocket, work the pocket, trust the pocket and throw from the pocket – your line will actually get better because they KNOW where you are.

Ponder flushes over the top of the pocket one more time, I am watching the Bucs from now on until Ponder is working the equipment room

“Sprained Ankle” likely an excuse for a weeks discipline. Percy maybe hasnt conformed to the rules and the sprain became an IR issue … even more cloudy than an injury.

When Adrian busted his knee we knew within 2 days all the damage done …. Percy has had an “injury” for 3 weeks and we know less now than we thought 3 weeks ago …

Also I have noticed Frazier in his pressers the previous few weeks praising Peterson for “being an unselfish team player, who would be happy with one yard as long as the team wins” and “the most humble superstar he’s ever been around”

When he kept making these points my spidey senses thought “he’s talking to Percy”

I bet Percy gets traded this off season…The Rams sounds like a team who could want his services…Rams have plenty of draft pick ammunition from the RG3 situation last spring…Trading down with Washington…

And Bradford needs to 2 things really bad at the Rams…O-line and WR help…

Petulant Percy ~ may find himself traded this off season…

I can’t believe you would come on here talking about trading Harvin you and Shawn need to shut up.
You guys are fair weather fans yeah he screamed at Frazier but why did it take you so long to bring it up.
Is it his fault that he wants to win the guy gives 100% out their whenever he plays, he’s injured now because he’s not a quitter.
Most players would’ve sat with a bad ankle but he continued to play that game fighting through the pain.
You guys must’ve never played the sport before to be talking like that. I would take a player with a winning attitude instead of taking a loser.
His game speaks for itself unlike some. Trading Harvin is the last thing in my mind that’s the Vikings youngest threat.

  356. By realviking on Dec 6, 2012 | Reply

You guys talk about Harvin being injury prone but yet complain about missing Sidney Rice was he not injury prone.
When a player becomes more then 50 percent of your offense he week face injury.
Real Vikings fans know when Harvin was healthy the guy was more then half of our offense, he was our only receiver, part time running back, and full time kick returner.
How do you not expect him to get hurt even the analyst were saying at the rate were using him he would not have a long career.
If a guy is giving you 100% and he sees guys slacking which is causing us to lose then he should be able to speak his mind that’s why they made him a captain.

  357. By realviking on Dec 6, 2012 | Reply

So your saying Harvin doesn’t want to win?
Singleterry said that but the 49ers couldn’t win with him.
Now Singleterry isn’t around the 49ers are one of the hottest teams in the NFL so you tell me who wanted to win
Was it the player? Or was it Singleterry?
That question has already been answered the players wanted to win but Singleterry was holding them back failing to realize football has changed a lot since his days of playing.
Now that they have a coach who understands that and knows how to win in the game of football today the 49ers are winners.
Its not Harvins fail that he wants to win and his coach is on the sidelines looking clueless.
Its not his fault that Ponder can’t throw a screen or his coaches call predictable plays.

Harvin has been off the field for something all the time also…Headaches, attitude wanting trades, etc…

realviking…You commend ???.. Harvin for going back out on the field after injuring his ankle…And playing through pain…(Harvin did that , after the coaches wanted him to stay on the sidelines)…It was Harvin who “did not want to listen or take the coaches advice again” that caused a more serious injury to Harvins ankle in that game !!!..
Harvin doesn’t want to listen to coaching advice…

I cheer players that shut their mouths and play football !!!…

Learn the sport before you criticize the peoples playing it. Theirs not to many athletes who can say they never missed a game.
And if he chose to sit because he’s mad then I completely agree with him. Why is it that our second best player is getting paid less then the players who aren’t doing anything for the team, he’s out their putting his body on the line and the ones who get paid more don’t even show up to play.

Why do you always have negative things to say about Webb who haven’t played but yet your praising Ponder who is playing and doing exactly what you expect Webb to do.
Why do you think MBT will succeed but think Webb will fail I don’t think your judgement is fair.
I like MBT and Webb but I don’t know how successful they’ll be until they get a chance.

AP is in the category because your talking about injured players. When Harvin is out their he’s playing just as hard as AP. Kluwe on the other hand was blabbing on twitter while performing bad.
Before Harvin got injured he led the league in receptions, yac, and yards from scrimmage. He was a clear cut pro bowler so he backs up his mouth.

I will be cheering for Webb if he starts at the Rams…If the Bears win this Sunday…And Frazier starts Webb the following week…

But want Webb to start for the right reasons…Not because of injury…Because he either showed in practice he earned the chance (like Kaipernick)…Or because he waited his turn…Like the scenario will most likely happen if the Vikings lose this Sunday…If they do…There is NO reason not to give Webb his chance to shine…

We go 3 and out and all he says is he got to look at the tape. How many tapes do they have to look at to be able to fix the problem because they obviously haven’t fixed nothing.
I watched Alex Smith yell at Singleterry during a game after Singleterry tried to pull him out because of his horrible play Smith got in his face yelled at him and went back in but yet I see VIkings fans asking for Smith.

I understand that he’s been waiting but I want the team to play the best players we need someone who doesn’t play favorites.
Its obvious Wright is better then any receiver on our roster other then Harvin so why isn’t he ahead of them.
Ellison is better then Carlson so why isn’t he ahead of him/
Robinson is better then Jefferson so why did Jefferson get the nod when cook went down?
Burton is not good at all so why does he even get play time?
Audie Cole outplayed Brinkley in the preseason so why didn’t they let him compete for a starting spot?

Frazier is to friendly he picks his starters before training camp starts and sticks with them. He’s afraid to bench a player because he thinks that would mess up there relationship.
He’s not making the best decisions for the team some players and coaches should’ve been gone but he sticks with them because of the relationship they have

If I’m going to pay a rookie draft pick that kind of money then I would give it to Harvin because Harvin is a young proven player we all know a rookie is always a risk that teams take they don’t always end up filling the shoes of the player they replace.

Attitude wise yes Harvin must and will change his attitude when he sees what the team is investing on him. But right now with his pay rate I don’t blame him he’s way more valuable then what we pay him. How many number one receivers can play the role Harvin plays?

Frazier sticks to “the code” a little too long for my taste…

With the WR core soooo bad…It is my opinion…Ponder needs more time…But that is just my opinion only…

Is Frazier saying…I am going to sit Ponder this week…And have Webb start after getting in practice all week…I’m fine with that…

After dropping plenty of pass attemts from Ponder in the Bears game…If Frazier says I am going to start Summers this week…After practicing all week with the first team to get his timing down…I am fine with that…So should nSimpson after his poor play ???…

It just seems like the players run this team, more than Frazier to me at times ???

Why is Michael Singletary still on the coaching staff what are we paying him to do because we have a linebackers coach already.
He’s our so called assistant head coach but if Frazier were to get fired tomorrow I certainly wouldn’t want to have Singletary fill in.
When will Frazier stop hiring his friends.

If anyone has ever wondered why our D line isn’t the same as it used to be, well that’s because Frazier fired our D Line coach that had us ranked in the top five every season since 2006. IMO this guy has no clue of what he’s doing.

I didn’t like chilly but I believe the players wanted him out because his attitude is totally different from Frazier.
The players knew they would be able to walk all over Frazier they knew what type of coach he was. They knew chilly was strict and wouldn’t allow them to do that because remember he was a high on character.

Frazier doesn’t bring a winning attitude. I played football when i was younger and the most important games were road games.
It seem like Frazier threw in the towel for road games because he accepts the fact that we can’t win on the road why don’t he get as excited for road games as he do for home games.
On the road our players play like they expect to lose but when we’re home everyone is excited and making plays.

I too, have to question as to why did it take so long for them to come up with this current diagnosis for Harvin? All teams have “specialists” who are medically trained and physicians on staff. Why did it take almost 4wks. to find out the full extent of his injury? It’s unbelievable to think that in today’s modern medical technology that this wasnt addressed from the get-go with a CT-Scan, MRI/MRA. which would have definitively allowed to see this right away?? I truly have to question “who is running the show up in Minnesota” at this point. Didn’t anyone on that coaching staff. medical staff, have any inkling to automatically do that testing? But, then again, this is ineptitudeness, which has been a hallmark/shining light in the Vikings organization. I feel extreme sadness for AP and a FEW of the other players who give 110% to this game and have been “short-changed” this season. One has to truly love the determination of AP and he deserves to be on a winning team and get his ring. PONDER NEEDS TO SIT THE BENCH!!!!!!!! He has had 22-23 games to show us that he either has improved or digressed. Well, we all know he hasn’t improved now don’t we? Being realistic, one would think that in this stage of the game he would have improved with his skill-sets wouldn’t it? I have not seen anything at this point to look in the positive view on Ponder. The QB, on most teams, is viewed as the leader and others should follow. Ponder doesn’t have ANY leadership qualities at all to mention. What’s even worse is that the coaching staff either is blind to this fact, or else have been given no options concerning Ponder from the “higher-ups” as to making changes within this organization to attempt to benefit themselves.

At some point, as an organization, you need to start resigning your best players and not allowing them to go on to other teams!!! Percy Harvin should be a must sign for this organization!!! We are already severely depleted at this position, a position we have always had great players in!!!

THESE WR ARE THE SAME CALIBER AS THE ONES FROM 2010 we just had a decent qb and its not the lines fault favre was on his A$$ all year but he got it done GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR A$$ ponder will never be anything more than a clip boar holding noodle armed waste of space HE IS RYAN LEAF reincarnated. if we trade percy we can just as well trade evrybody else and let the go to a team that has a chance to make playoffs. these guys deserve a rig but wont get one cuz frazier is a nightmare of a coach but wobby thinks any viking staff or palyer can walk on water

    @Kathy P

I think they waited so long because they thought they would be able to play him while injured remember during the bye they said Harvin was doing some sideline drills. We got the same answer every week( he’s able to do some things but he’s not ready yet ). My guess is if we had at least beat either the bears or packers Harvin wouldn’t be placed on IR I think they realize our season is over that’s why it took so long.

Harvin needs surgery, whether this is news, or not IDK~ I, for one didn’t support McScab coming in and given the reins. I thought at best a back-up, mentor-type. When Favre went down a couple of years ago, I thought that, perhaps w/Webb, Harvin, and Peterson the coaches could possibly exploit a wildcat-type of offense to keep the opposition on their heels a bit. It never happened~ :( Question? when the scouts….aka. Speilman and buds drafted Ponder did they even consider other prospective qbs? I know I heard that he was supposedly “THe best suited” for this offense. I don’t blame Harvin for feeling as he does. I kind of wishfully thinking of course, that when we have a player that goes down to have someone to be able to fill their shoes effectively. I realize there are exeptions, Peterson, Harvin, Winfield, and Allen, to name some. It just seems for many, many years that when a starter goes down there is noone to be there. I’m kind of relieved the Vikes haven’t been multi-injury laden this year. I thought John Carlson would contribute more…and I’m wrong again~

I think I read that you are not a Bears fan, right Pablo?

I believe Palbo states that he does not want the Bears to win.

Does not want the Vikings to lose. I am with him on that.

I know a little Spanish, just enough to get into trouble.

This is for Mr. Musgrave. If the Bears Linebackers play in tight to stop the run on

1st and 2nd down why don’t we throw in the 5 yard shovel pass from Ponder

to Peterson. AN OUNCE OF CREATIVITY MIGHT HELP.

  412. By norsejeremyw on Dec 6, 2012 | Reply

I wonder if Ponder can administrate a pumpfake?

  413. By norsejeremyw on Dec 6, 2012 | Reply

I may be able to understand Ponder with the fact that he is a slow learner? I know I am . That doesn’t really matter, tho~ Maybe….when one thoroughly understands the mechanics, the hows, and whys the whole picture clicks and can become better, and better….When finally….you are on your own little plateau? So to speak~ Optimistically, speaking, laters~

To all you “fans” who say that Ponder needs more time. I say you are ate up…..go watch another team. It’s people like you (and staff) that hold this team back. We should be 8-4 AT LEAST right now but because of Ponders play and coaching we are 6-6. That sucks. It’s time to sit the poo slinger and insert the Webb Slinger.

    I say BOO: 1)Ponder
    2) Frazier
    3) Musgrave

Hope all of you, who are able, can let the Franchise know in person how disguntled/disillusioned with a select few, that the majority of their fans are. We know they really dont read any of these comments, but we are still allowed to voice our opinions with one another. So, I say go forth and let your voices be heard if that’s the only way to to at least let them hear you.

number 1 priority this off season better be resigning percy, that should be a case closed no brainer….number 2 priority should be bringing in a veteran qb such as alex smith, look the guy is a descent qb when he has a quality rb behind him, i think he would be a great addition and someone who could provide us a solid starter for the next five years, which lets face it, is about the remainder of petersons career…then maybe look at signing a dewayne bowe, he would look pretty good opposite of simpson with percy in the slot….what do ya think?

I love Harvin but Harvin has to realise the world does not revolve around him and his paycheck. He will make more then enough money, its up to him what he does with it. If he wants to be GREAT and win a championship he needs to calm down and be a man.

OK, so here’s what the Minnesota Vikings need to make the playoffs: two of the three NFC East contenders to lose ( Redskins at Eagles, Saints at Cowboys, Giants at Ravens) and the Cardinals to play their tails off versus the Bears. Meanwhile, your Vikes are in Houston. From the in-case-you’re-wondering department: The Texans’ run defense is ranked fifth in the NFL. I still wouldn’t bet against Adrian Peterson.
