Harvin, Peterson, Walsh On Pro Football Weekly’s 2012 Midseason All-Pro Team

Posted by Mike Wobschall on November 6, 2012 – 1:14 pm

The Vikings are well-represented on Pro Football Weekly’s 2012 Midseason All-Pro Team, with Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin and K Blair Walsh all getting nods from the outlet’s editors. Peterson was a unanimous choice, Harvin was selected for two positions (wide receiver and kickoff returner), and Walsh is one just two rookies on the team.

Peterson leads the NFL in rushing with 957 yards, Harvin leads the NFL in receptions with 62 and kickoff return average (35.9), and Walsh is tied for the lead in FGs of 50+ yards with 5 and leads the NFC in FG% at 95.0%.

today is my birthday and my wife asked me wht i want…..and that is a win at home against the Lions…..Vikings.com has become a gloomy place in recent weeks….we need a win like nobodies business to help get this sour taste outta our mouths going in2 the bye week. skol vikes!!!

  6. By VikingFanatic209 on Nov 6, 2012 | Reply

thankfully as of right now we are 1-0 in the division with an opportunity to sweep the detroit lions…..which will feel really nice….now lets get focused and work on stopping the run, getting after the quarterback, and on offense pick up the blitz, and take advantage of the 1 on 1 match-ups on the outside whn opposing defenses load the box and are basically daring us to pass….Our passing game has to improve if we want to see more outta peterson thru december.gotta keep em honest….skol vikes!!

    Vikings Wr core is depressing.
    Musgravy is depressing.
Maybe canning Musgrave and having Wroght active will change that.

  8. By H.M.G. on Nov 6, 2012 | Reply

Showing Ponder some support might be more helpful right now than cutting him down.

If a QB does not have any receivers to throw to and an OL that gives the QB about 2 seconds what is there to expect? A miracle? THIS IS A FACT. If any QB in the league is harrassed they will become very average. In the last 4 weeks tell me a series in which Ponder was not harrassed? You cannot count when the vikings defense is playing.

Steal of the draft, dare I say it, a kicker!! Blair Walsh was a great pick as were Kalil and Smith!!

VikingFanatic- Agree 100%.A little less negativity in the face of adversity would be most welcome! We still have an outside shot at the playoffs if we do what we were doing earlier in the season. Looking for a big win Sunday! P.S. Happy B-day. Skol!

  13. By David Plowman on Nov 6, 2012 | Reply

Harvin may not play Sunday. This could be huge. The vikings need a win no matter how they get it. JUST WIN.

It won’t matter if Harvin plays or not keep him out of harms way any further.
When he leaves next year he should be in good shape for his new team.
I want the Lions to cream Ponder and get him the hill off the team.!~

Loadholt and Johnson are the main problems followed closely by Musgravey.
I have talked about how awful a LG Charlie Johnson is. He should be embarr@ssed by his play. Loadholt epitomize inconsistency. Now for Musgrave he has 2 plays. Even with guys like AP and Harvin it kinda easy to key in on 2 plays. Another problem is the RUN D is playing in roller blades. Seriously when has Brinkley, Guion, and Williams played more than one play in a row where they stopped a run for less than 5 yards over the past 3-4 weeks.

  18. By H.M.G. on Nov 6, 2012 | Reply

This is not all on Ponder. That is for DARN SURE!

  19. By Muskyfever on Nov 6, 2012 | Reply

I am not a fan of ?! guy…. making me depressed.

Harvin please don’t leave us… we need you! I promise we will PAY you handsomly! I don’t think Harvin will leave for many reasons…

I also don’t want the Lions to hurt any of our players… Ponder is the least of my concern on that list, but no one else is gunna get anything done so we need to just let Ponder do his thing, regardless of how much he sucks right now.

  20. By H.M.G. on Nov 6, 2012 | Reply

He has his problems but look at every other QB who struggles. It all comes back to OLine play. Are OLine needs improved. OLine everything Barret Jones would be a good start or maybe his teammate OG Chance Warmack.

  21. By H.M.G. on Nov 6, 2012 | Reply

The D needs to get younger both Henderson and Brinkley have been playing sloppy. A new LB and a new DT is needed to help take over for Kevin or at least replace Guion as a starter.

  22. By H.M.G. on Nov 6, 2012 | Reply

    Bench Brinkley/Henderson and play COLE!
Looks like Erin is still concussed.

  23. By Muskyfever on Nov 6, 2012 | Reply

    E. Henderson had one or two good hits during the game. but that was all he did, need more production out of our LB crew… Except Greenway is a beast and he needs to keep doing what he is doing. He is playing great.

Doin’t worry about Ponder, he can move out of harms way.

If he is fast enough, that is.

  30. By Immure on Nov 6, 2012 | Reply

Harvin won’t leave the team next season and he won’t get the franchise tag next season either. And here is the reason why because he doesn’t become a free agent until 2014.

  31. By Immure on Nov 6, 2012 | Reply

Percy still has another year on his contract after this season. The reason why we say pay Percy is because we want to make sure he is still with the team after his contract expires and because right now he is only making peanuts compared to other elite WRs in the league and we want to keep him happy.

Time for Jarius Wright, time to block a little bit for our quarterback, time for the rest of the receivers to step up. Harvin gave all he has and now is hurt. No more coasting. Come on Vikings, you guys are lucky you don’t have real jobs. Most of you would be fired by now. The play caller Musgrave should be fired. Defense get off your arses and make some tackles. No more sitting on a stump watchin the frogs jump.

Time for a change!! I’ve been reading these blogs for a few years now and I finally had to put my 2 cents in. The change starts at the top. When ESPN broadcast before the season that the Vikings had an announcement to make about the GM, I was hoping it started with ” Bill Polain is the new GM”, but I was dissapointed. Rick Speilman’s past performance ….. The Lions. Besides last year, when was the last time the Lions were any good. He worked for the Bears when they sucked, then went to the Dolphins…… Enough said. Everyone was saying that he had a good draft this year. How could you not have a good draft with the third pick!!!! Don’t forget he drafted college players that had major injuries and paid a boat load of money for a damaged tight end and offensive lineman. He could have kept VS as the tight end and used the extra money that was paid to a tight end who was injured, and get this.. didn’t play for a year, for other means. I ask, is this leadership? He allowed that vengeful cancer, Randy Moss, back and see what happened. Moss is in Harvin’s head. Start playing some of the young talent that we have to evaluate them for next year. Get a new GM and OC and we should look good in a few years.

Why do you want Spielman gone when he had a great draft this past year and is actually a pretty good GM?
He traded down one spot to get picks to trade back up and grab Harrison Smith in the first round before Denver took him.(After we took him they traded down) Not to mention he still managed to draft Matt Kalil who I don’t think anyone can say was a bad pick for this team.

The head coach who has kept this team from having a losing record the entire season Spielman should fire him too I suppose?
Musgrave has done decent not great but him being fired wouldn’t bother me much.

Don’t feel like going through the whole staff just hit the high points, the coaching staff is fine Frazier is the right person for this team but since we’ve lost two in a row most of you want him gone…But if we finish 11-5 I’m sure Frazier wouldn’t be the reason why.

Yeah when it comes down to it… it’s surprising that there wasn’t a revolution based on 911 alone. There are so many ridiculous things with it and the majority of the nation just let the government spoon feed them a million lies and just accepted it fully without questioning it.

That’s only a very obvious example as well. Most people don’t realize about the global elite’s desire for depopulation and total world control. They don’t know about things like plum island, that the Bilderberg Group exists or the illuminati, they don’t know about the evil history of the Rothschilds and Rockefellers that run the United States.

What about the federal reserve? There is nothing FEDERAL about it, it is a private entity. How about the income tax? Do you know the income tax is actually unconstitutional. Look it up.

I think just seeing Musgrave and Ponder have an hot arguement along the sidelines…And Frazier getting in there, to break it up…FIRE UP !!!…

That would at least show some kind of fire and leadership !!…

And get that O-line going also Ponder…Get Kalil fired up !!!…That shouldn’t be hard to do…Haven’t seen the fire Kalil possesses either…Quit going throw the motions offense ???…AND SHOW SOME FIRE !!!…

The thing that bugs me is Frazier’s attitude with not having more young players in this line up…Frazier has this thing about having “verterans” in the line up, to mentor his young players…

    Note to Frazier…

Besides Allen and Winfield…Fraziers “veteran mentors” are the ones “underacheiving”…Not the young players or rookies..

So why are you using “underacheiving veterans” again Frazier ???..

To set a BAD example for our young players ???…

C’mon Frazier !!!…Sit Jenkins,Aromashudo, C Johnson, etc…And play more young players…And have the young players set their own example of accountability…

And please get rid of Musgrave, in your spare time… : /

If the Vikes end up 8-8 or better, there’s no way they make a coaching change!! That’s a 5 game turn around!! A scenario I would like to see, would be that Philly fires Andy Reid and the Vikes hire him as the OC, that is if no one offers him a head coaching job!! Fire Musgrave, he’s just not that good as an OC!!!

Ponder and Frazier don’t strike me as being fiery guys!! Frazier is a very stoic type of a coach and Ponder, well, he just looks lost at times, but then again he’s only in his 2nd year!! I hate that old NFL analogy, you can’t make a change at QB, you’ll break the young man’s confidence!!! Rubbish, its about competition, performing well and winning!! There’s nothing wrong with letting a young man know, there’s something missing in your game and you need to sit and watch the next guy play!! Maybe that would fire him up!!!!

  194. By vikess86 on Nov 7, 2012 | Reply

Hey, here is a smart thing that musgrave should pick up. Feed the hot man. AP was in beast mode and could have had as many yards as doug martin. Stop getting away from what was working. Peterson was hot and musgrave cooled him down. As you could see the seahawk defense could not stop him. please play both webb and ponder. every body knows that ponder does this: look for harvin. bubble screen. then roll out right and try to find rudolph. everybody has picked up on that. Here is something new. Put both qb’s in and throw it deep. because the defenses know our schemes. mix it up. I like coach frazier but he has got to put off the tony dungy demeanor and put on the dennis green demeanor. “THey are who we thought they were”

This sums up my feelings perfectly. Well said David!

I think Honourable mentions for PB this year should also include Matt Kalil ( and ROOKIE candidate ) as well as John Sullivan ………..Sullivan has assumed a crucial starting position with a high bar having adrian as his starting RB …………some of his lead blocks on sunday were exceptional ! Its always nice when u dont even think about CENTER ……….hes solid i think …… seamless almost …….just watch some of APs runs vs seahawks hes good ……..

What about Antoine and chad greenway ………..Chad is so under appreciated within the organization as well as NFL media …..the guy is always up there for tackles and he is pretty solid in pass defence ……just my opinion

Trading Percy Harvin would be a huge mistake at this point in the teams rebuilding effort. Like it or not, he is an integral part of the chemistry of this team and its clear he neither wants to be traded nor is it certain that his team feels that he is a detriment where a trade would be justified.
In the games that I’ve seen this man play, it is clear that PH has no problem sacrificing his body for the win; and the fact that he does most of his damage from the slot position says a lot about his fearlessness. We all know that good slot receivers are a rarity, so in this case the Viking Organization should just pay this guy and reward him for his service now and in the future. His personality speaks to his commitment and it would be wise for the GM and Coaches to recognize it or this team is doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.
Besides, Percy Harvin is a Viking and he should be recognized as one, then we can all just move on!
