Sullivan, Teammates Visit VA Medical Center To Thank Veterans On Election Day

Posted by Mike Wobschall on November 6, 2012 – 11:38 am

As voters head to the polls on Tuesday to exercise one of many great American rights, John Sullivan and many of his teammates will visit those who dedicated much of their lives to fighting and protecting that freedome. Sullivan, along with Christian Ballard, McLeod Bethel-Thompson, Everson Griffen, Marvin Mitchell, Mistral Raymond, Jerome Simpson and the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders and Viktor the Viking visited the VA Medical Center on Tuesday morning.

The players visited the community living room and spinal cord injury center multi-purpose room. As part of the visit, UnitedHealthcare executives donated a Ride 2 Recovery Stealth road bike to the Patient Recreation Program to be used soldiers who come through the program.

The Vikings organization has marked the November 11th Vikings-Lions matchup, on Veterans Day, as their “Salute to Service” game.

This is the 12th consecutive year the Vikings and Minnesota Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars have partnered for a community outreach project.

Peterson Named FedEx Ground NFL Player Of The Week Finalist

Posted by Mike Wobschall on November 6, 2012 – 8:50 am

Adrian Peterson came into Week 9 of the season as the NFL’s rushing leader, and he added to his lead with a 182-yard performance against the Seattle Seahawks. His season-high rushing total along with 2 TDs on 17 carries was impressive enough for Peterson to be named a finalist for FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week honors.

Two other RBs with impressive performances were also named finalists. Tampa Bay’s Doug Martin had another sensational outing, throttling the Oakland Raiders for 251 rushing yards and 4 TDs on 25 carries, while Pittsburgh’s Isaac Redman had 147 yards and 1 TD on 26 carries.

Fans can vote for one player in each category on from 8:00 a.m. CT on Tuesday through 2 p.m. CT on Friday to determine the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week. The winner will be announced Friday on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on

Fans will be voting for more than their favorite player. As part of the Air & Ground program and its commitment to small business owners, FedEx will support education efforts at Junior Achievement by making weekly $2,000 donations in each of the winning players’ names. The funding, allocated to local Junior Achievement area offices in that team’s city or state, is used to help U.S. small business development, by educating the next generation of entrepreneurs on how to start and grow their own businesses.
