Every single explosive play thats coming to mind is from the same side of the field.
Looking in the direction the offense does its the left side.
Looking in the direction the defense does its the right side.

Martins first 20+ run in this game was to that side, RGIII’s huge run to put the game away on 3rd and 6 was to that side.
There have been multiple plays to the same side every time and its costing us this game.

This is still a winnable game but the defense MUST get a turnover and the offense cannot commit another turnover if were going to win this game.

Because look like we like losing.. ponder is not the problem… get him some weapons and enought

JonesDogg thinks we need to educate the fans. Football is played in the trenches.
Hence the O Line needs some time to come together in their pass blocking. They are becoming a good run blocking line.

All I had to do was turn on the TV, and I immediately saw 4 or 5 shows about QBs!

Hey, if I watched the game, I know what the guy did, tell me something I don’t know!

This is an issue I have been harping on for several years. I know you have to talk about the QB.

But don’t obsess, give credit where credit is due. The O LINE deserves more credit than the QB.

If Sage Rosenfels was still on the team he could be mentoring Ponder this season and Ponder would be playing more consistantly right now. It was a big mistake letting our only veteran QB go.

Pulling Ponder now is a dumb move. He needs to stay in learn from this. The OL needs to get a gut check. Tampa owned them tonight.

STAYING WITH WHAT IS NOT WORKING IS BEYOND DUMB.
It is the definition of insanity. We may have won this game putting MBT or Webb in at the fourth quarter.

Way to squander Ponder! Once again, he was a disgrace as a quarterback, constantly keeping the defense on the field! Tampa blows out the Vikings and watch the wheels come off for the Vikings season now as the begin a string of many losses from teams better than they are, all with a quarterback that can be called quarterbacks. Again, Harvin and A P are the Vikings offense…that’s it!
Good bye Vikings and their playoff chances due primarily as a result of the Vikings selecting Ponder in the first round with their 15 pick overall in the 2011 draft! He was a third round pick at best! If he is so smart, he would have not considered being a quarterback in the NFL!
Way to get blown out on national TV…

I think this football team knows that Ponder is not the answer. I don’t care what players say to the media. Joe Webb would be a greater asset on the field at this point because he is elusive and is a flat out athlete. Just say the names out loud: Joe Webb, Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin, Jerome Simpson, Kyle Rudolph…now you get it.

The “whole” team didn’t play well. Jerome Simpson fumbled and let a ball slide trough his hands. Adrian, even though he is a beast, fumbled in a key moment… John Sullivan threw the ball on the grass instead in Ponder’s hands… Penalties, when we don’t need them… Defenders missing their tackles… Ponder playing medicore at best (still better than Webb) and more and more.

First time I didn’t wear my jerseyon the way back home. First time I am disappointed this season. I will be frustrated for the next days, but after that I should be fine and hopefully the team gets back on track. We still can make the plaayoffs. 8 more games to go. Ponder is done in two years tops. We just continue to throw good money after bad. Then he’ll be a back-up somewhere for 10 years, then he’ll get a chance to start a season and then take a team to the super bowl. We’ve seen it all before….

  334. By Mike B. on Oct 25, 2012 | Reply

Titus The OL couldn’t keep the Tampa D Line out of the backfield so Ponder could set up to p@ss. We would gain some on the ground and then stop. Get into a p@ss situation Ponder is pressured or hit as he throws. That’s what I saw all game. Ponder was not the problem and putting in another QB would not have changed the outcome other than Webb woudl have gotten more yards on the ground. You are too optimistic on where this team is at. They are still making many of the same mistakes as last year. But have some very big bright spots. It would have been very exceptional for this team to make the playoffs after the personnel turnover they had.

Well, 2 ways of looking at this. 1) We are 5-3 at the half way point of the season. Who would’ve ever thought that at the beginning of the season,,,,No one! 2) Ponder has looked abismal these last 3 weeks in particular. He seems lost, doesnt make the right reads, doesnt put enough zip on the ball. Is he or is he not the answer for us?? Also, our o-line didnt help him out a lot. A lot of busted protection issues tonight. Our D was put in tough spots a lot, but when they needed to get the Bucs off the field, they couldnt do it. Too many 3rd down conversions they allowed for 1st downs. The 2nd half of the season looks ominous, especially after that performance.

I’m not going to talk about our Defense because the Offense put them in some bad positions.

This offense need another WEAPON on the field. Percy has a good return and goes to the sideline for a play or two leaving AD as the only weapon on the field for us. I wonder who is going to get the ball?

Joe Webb can be that other weapon. I’m not saying put him in for Ponder I’m saying he is a weapon that we are wasting. PUT HIM IN THE D@MN GAME! Line him up all over the field like they do Percy and put the ball in his hands. If there is anyone on this team that can step up and be that weapon to take the defense’s focus off of AD and Percy at times it is Webb and we all know that! Jerome Simpson, Micheal Jenkins, Jarius Wright, and Stephen Burton are not going to do that for us.
Webb is the only player not named Adrian or Percy that has shown he can be a game changer for us. Stop wasting this first round talent. Get real coaches Webb will never be our guy at QB so put him in the game!

Ponder needs to take more chances. throw into 1-on-1s and trust your receiver to make a play. But it still comes down to turnovers. You just cant give the ball away like we did and expect to win. Take away those mistakes and there is no reason we shouldn’t win every game.

PONDER – SUCKS! Face it people. He’s a mediocre QB. He’s like Alex Smith without the arm strength, just a game manager that has to depend on his defense and the players around him to make plays. How can people expect him to “light it up” ever, if he can’t even complete a simple bubble screen pass to harvin? He killed plenty of drives this game with his decisions throwing the ball. He had harvin open a few times and threw it to Jenkins expecting him to make a play…. Even on that last play where Ponder threw that int, you could read the expression on Harvin’s face. He was like ‘wow, really?……” Not saying it was all Ponder’s fault, but he had plenty of chances to make plays and he couldn’t capitalize. Everyone continues to say that Ponder is such a smart qb and good decision maker… He has continually made horrible decisions and very poor throws the past 3 weeks. Seems like he may have hit the same wall he did last year after doing well for a few games. So much for putting last sunday’s game behind him and looking forward to torching tampa’s secondary. How anyone can be optimistic about next weeks game against seattle I’m not in favor of benching him for Webb either. Sadly it is true, but Ponder gives the vikings the best chance to win….

  386. By RealViking on Oct 25, 2012 | Reply

Blame it on the line, blame it on the receivers, or OC but the truth is Ponder sucks he’s obviously the problem. The line can’t protect for qb who can’t read any blitzes even when its obvious. The receivers rub their routes but what’s the point when they have s qb who locks on one target and throws it to him even if he’s covered, does ponder ever scans the field. Teams give us the deep pass because again its obvious Ponder can’t throw the deep ball, Simpson got behind the corner twice today but Ponder is to inaccurate to throw the ball inbounds. I was one who couldn’t stand the OC but its clear he doesn’t trust Ponder so they only design check down plays for him think about it the guy developed Matt Ryans and they had an explosive offense so its clear Ponder us only s game manager at best. Its time to give Webb the spot i believe any qb can check it down to receivers Ponder isn’t doing anything special he should’ve thrown 11 picks already if it weren’t for drops.

If the O-line would do their job and Speilman would have picked up a good reciever and not Simpson things could look a lot different its hard to throw when you only have Harvin and Rudalph that can catch the ball so the defense takes those 2 away and rush the qb we are in bad shape cause the other clowns can’t get open if their lives depended on it.

purplerainman- You just proved MY point. Another game in which Webb came in during the middle of the game. What happened the week after that and the Lions game? Case and point.

U guys are wasting time saying out Joe Webb in because he’s not gonna get in. I’m sorry but he’s not. Why would Frasier do that when ponder is better then him if Webb was in he would throw about 8 int. And u guys will be crying.! When was the last time he played good at qb? Im sorry but he will not be the qb for the vikings. Fraizer doesnt even read these comments

PAY PERCY! KEEP PLAYING PONDER! UNLEASH WEBB!

Look I am not here to offend anyone (well maybe besides Ponder). I think taking Ponder in the draft was a mistake to begin with. I think he will end up an average QB at best in this league. I think some QB have a drive in them and so like cars and girls. Unfortunately I think he’s the latter of the two. No biggie – Like I’ve said all along it’s just my opinion.

NEW BLOG– Let’s ask Wobbles why he argued with me and told all the players how tired and disadvanteged the Bucs would be– what a horrible irresponsible journalistic lie to mentally prepare our young team to misbelieve it would be a cakewalk. A 2-4 team should not walk in our house and beat us

Joe Webb cannot be properly critiqued at this point because he hasn’t played long enough. I’m just saying if we start a losing streak – I would like him to get his chance.

VikesShield- I agree dont put Webb in at QB. But wouldnt you agree he should be in the game and not on the sideline? Not as QB of course. We all now Webb can be a game changer. We need to get the ball in his hands he has great talent. We need another weapon in the game other than AD and Percy.

With a few exceptions, the ENTIRE MIN team should be ASHAMED!!!!!!! No one deserves to see the disgusting act we displayed tonight. Tomorrow better start a rebirth for this franchise.

purplerainman- I agree we need to put him in the game, but not at QB. The guy is a game changer as we all know and as he has shown.

  406. By purplerainman on Oct 25, 2012 | Reply

GrandDaddyPurp – How many weapons do we need? We have two big capable wide-outs we have AP, Toby, Rudolph, Harvin..we had Carlson. I think there is more than enough talent there. I think it boils down to coaching and QB play.

  407. By purplerainman on Oct 25, 2012 | Reply

Musgrave should go back to being a QB coach he’s not a play caller. We need to bring in a guy like Martz to run this offense.

You wonder why Webb is not in games as a WR? Because he sucks as a WR. He may have beaten db’s in college but this is the NFL. Ain’t happening. Looking forward to another loss next week. The vikings have two possible games they could win left on the season. Shame because harvin and AP have been playing outstanding football lately. If Ponder could be more consistent, and harvin and AP continue playing how they do, they both could be strong MVP candidates but thats not happening anymore. Carlson better get cut by the end of the season. Absolute waste of roster space and money.

Shame on MIN! NO excuse for this ugly display.

1998 Minnesota Vikings is the model offense that I base everything i say off of when i’m judging our offense. That year it seemed like everyone was a threat which made defenses have nightmares about going against us. I see nothing like that with this years offense. Joe Webb is a threat. He needs to be in the game.

  411. By GrandDaddyPurp on Oct 25, 2012 | Reply

Toby and Carlson pose no threat to defenses. Rudolph is the best of the 3 but he is no game changer.

  412. By xvike on Oct 25, 2012 | Reply

Wait, what? two big capable WR? who might those be? how come they don’t play? Are you referring to Jenkins and Simpson? I think we all saw today why Cincy let Simpson go. Jenkins? He’s garbage. Big and tall for nothing. He’s slow and not athletic at all. Bernard butterhands Berrian recorded a higher vertical jump at his combine than jenkins. That’s sad. Jenkins would be a third string wr on most teams and would warm the bench on really good teams.

Maybe if Ponder was any good at throwing a deep ball Simpson would show what he’s capable of doing. We have the beast back in football who demands an 8th man in the box, good quarterbacks would take advantage of that. We have the best all around player in football. We have an rising tightend who can go up top and finish on just about any defender in the NFL. Our line was terrible last season so they went out and drafted the best player for that position, so you guys need to stop blaming every position except the qb because he is the problem. When Favre was here he had similar talent and made defenses pay for an 8 man box, he made everyone around him better because he had that (it) in him that Ponder don’t have.

ponders deep ball is thrown out of bounds 9 time out of 10 he deosnt trust anybody nor does he have the accuracy SImpson had a great catch on the left side line but imagine that he was 2 yds out of bounds bench ponder its time for webb. use webb in a wildcat like percy and let MBT develope. the guy has a cannon something ponder will never have we need a gunslinger not a college has been

I still think rex Ryan would be a better choice. He us more creative n he always competes against the best coaches. Also he would back up our team n stand for the Vikings mistakes. But I would b really happy if one of those would end up in our staff. What about the offense coordinator?

  416. By 1vikingsfan on Oct 26, 2012 | Reply

So yes Ryan or Reid next??? Hope so!!! What about rex Ryan as offensive coordinator and Andy Reid as head coach?! Why not if we get a chance next year???

Titus, I agree with you that Wobs’ shouldn’t have said that. BOTH teams played a football game on Sunday and the only thing the Bucs had to do that the Vikes didn’t do is travel. However, it is extremely unlikely that Wobs is in any way “mentally preparing” the players for the game–that’s what coaches do. After reading many of your comments I figured you smart enough to know that. I doubt that many players even read his articles (though it may be a good idea for those who need a confidence boost. We all know how positive Wobs is). If anything he misled fans, and considering your argument you clearly weren’t dumb enough to believe it anyways.

I prefer Webb as the starter, but we should not bench Ponder yet. You have to give him a chance to come out of this.

Besides, Ponder is not the only reason for the offense playing bad. The O Line, receivers, and defense are more responsible for the offensive drift.

The defense must get the ball to the offense. They have not been able to do that consistently this year.

Webb should get a chance to start,or relieve after the bye week, if things don’t start to improve. We don’t want to go 3-5 the rest of the way, which right now would sound very good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Marcus Sherels is the quickest player in the NFL. He can play CB for the Vikings. Give him a few reps in real games!!!
