Simpson is a really good reciever. He will be that guy that everyone says we dont have and that is a legit number 1 wideout. He is the piece of the vikings offense that we need and have not had since Moss. Is he Moss? No. But hes alot better than Troy Williamson, Benard Berian, and MichaelJenkins!!!
By JE on Oct 21, 2012 | Reply
Everyone just needs to chill out on Simpson. We all knew he was going to have a slow start because of his suspension. If you didnt, you should have!! Hes a 1st year player on this team playing with a 2nd year QB.

And that Simpson doesn’t think it’s more important to jump over cheerleaders heads before the game…ending up injured…Than to catch the football in the game…

By Alex on Oct 21, 2012 | Reply
I agree with you about the past two games but these things happen. The more Ponder plays the less things like this will happen he has had some good games this season and he will have more good games but with the good games come the bad ones as well. I don’t think you can argue that Ponder has played better than most of us thought he would thus far. Now lets see how he responds after the half, I think if we see him make adjustments and get his head on straight he will stop with the mistakes in this game.
But all of that is just my opinion.

The person who made the final 2 play calls for the Vikings should not have a nfl job…unless they are point spread shaving it has to be the dumbest play calling i have seen in a long time…

By Spencer on Oct 21, 2012 | Reply
I would have just called a simple draw play to get AD over 100yds.
By OTKalil2012 on Oct 21, 2012 | Reply
What kind of play calling was that late in the half…
Why let Ponder throw on his own 20 yard line with 14 seconds left…???
But run the ball with Gerhart on 3rd and 2 yards to go…With over 2 minutes left on the clock…Same position on the field ???…
If a coaching staff doesn’t call plays, that show confidence in their QB in game situations…That player at some point will try to do too much…
By Jeffbleedspurple on Oct 21, 2012 | Reply
7/10 54 yards – 2 int’s, I sure hope he responds in the 2nd half.
By LarsonFamily on Oct 21, 2012 | Reply
Its the coaches fault. Why would you want Ponder to have a hail mary pass play under 10 seconds? They should of just killed the clock and go in halftime so they can settle down. Its coaches fault on that one. The first interception Ponder had was off of the tips of Rud. Again he is still in top 10 QB in stats.. Dont tell us to put in Webb, all he can do is run. He will be gone at the end of the season, period.
By Alex on Oct 21, 2012 | Reply
The part where you say “the same poor play as last year” is where you lost me completely…..
You either hate Ponder with a passion and don’t use logic with your posts or you haven’t watched both Webb and Ponder play. If you had just said something like put Webb in then maybe you had an argument but to say that Ponder hasn’t gotten any better from last year to this year is 100% a false statement.

I considered this year is Ponder’s rookie year. Last year it was his training since he never got the chance to do any of the playbooks that every draft rookie players study over the summer. Ponder never got the chance to study the playbooks until the first game of the preseason and it took about 3 to 4 months to get it right. He played 9 games last year is the total of 3 to 4 months of training. This year is his rookie year. He is in his first year of actual QB like these draft QBs are in their first year, like Andrew Luck, and Robert Griffin. It will take time for Ponder to devloped.

You are blaming Ponder? The way I see it, it is our OFFENSIVE LINE that aren’t blocking good enough for Ponder to have time to throw. Look how fast the Cardinals Defensive Line rush against our Offenive Line? They run our Offensive Line over and over and over. I couldn’t even click the time on my watch for Ponder to stand and throw. Not even 1 second compare to Tom Brady’s time. He has had average timing of 4 seconds. Ponder so far .8 seconds. Yeah Ponder sucks. No I blame our offensive line. Charlie Johnson and John Sullivan aren’t doing good job today. I dont blame Ponder at ALL.

IT WAS THE O-LINE Today that didnt play that well i think. it was NOT ponders fault.. w.t.f am i talking about we won so who give a shiz
By LarsonFamily on Oct 21, 2012 | Reply
For most QB that comes out of draft usually takes 4 years to developed. Flacco, the QB for Baltimore Ravens still struggling and he is in his 5th season. He has had 2 INT today and Ponder is still better than him so far. You can tell us how bad Ponder is after his 4th year. This year is his first year. Last year doesn’t count because he missed OTA training because of the locked out. Again, Webb is not the answer, period.

I honestly don’t know what happened– I missed the first half and part of the third quarter– but what I heard from the announcers was Ponder did not look so good. Then again, he was near the top of all QBs the past few weeks. Give him some slack– could be the O line.
By VikesShield on Oct 21, 2012 | Reply
still the o line gave up sacks that we did not need. and we could of got a score out of it so dont blame ponde. but are o line will rebound easily..good job defence we got sumthing going on defence

Mike R, these early draft players have really made an impact. If the Jr’s come out of college again this year, Spielman needs to add another 1st rounder like Harrison Smith

C’mon people…
We expected the defense to win this game…And that is what happened…
Cards have a very good defense…And played even faster our home turf…They were all over Ponder, all day long…
Vikings more than returned the same dominating pressure on defense back on Skelton…
WE WON THE GAME !!!

Parkway said it perfect. Ponder had 58yrds pa ssing and 2INTs. That is terrible. I understand he is a rookie, but to have no picks in four games, then 6 picks in 3 games… REALLY? Ponder is making bad decisions again just like last year. Not to mention our recievers can’t get separation. and the O line didn’t do a good job blocking. But He has to show us something against a good D and he is not as far as I am concerned.
Glad to see AP get a big game and another TD. D came up big today. But just because we won, dosen’t mean that the QB play was more than awful!
SKOL VIKINGS! 5-2 is more than I could have asked for, but now that we are winning I am asking Ponder to make better decisions

We have been blogging all week…We wanted 6-8 sacks from our defense…And some turnovers to win the game for us this week…
I know, Having Ponder throw for over 300 yards and 3 TD’s…Was something I did not expect against the Cards good defense…
“They were, who we thought they were”…BUT WE DIDN’T LET THEM OFF THE HOOK !!!!….hahahaha
Vikings 5-2 in the division… ; )

By LarsonFamily on Oct 21, 2012 | Reply
I forgot to add.. It has been 5 times that we started inside 10 yards line. It gives more PRESSURE on Ponder from where the ball is spotted. Cardinals put in BLITZ mode when it comes to under 10 yards line. Its hard to throw fast enough when you know they’re gonna come and get you. Kluwe needs to start punting further than just an average 40 yards. These are the big problems for us today that they kept us under 10 yards line and the pressure goes on Ponder. Again it will take 4 years to get used to every single thing that has happneed to him. I guarantee he will be a better QB. Time will reveal man. Got to go, see you negative Vikings fans on Thursday. Later
By vikes or die on Oct 21, 2012 | Reply
Well I hope Ponder pulls it together. We are going to need him against the Bucks Thursday night. He just keeps throwin up that floater thats getting away from him. I must sat though, if we would have just kept feeding AD he probably would have had over 200 yards and another TD. Why in the world didn’t we just keep feeding him? But at least we got the “W”!!!!! Good job Vikes!

The Oline and Ponder both had a terrible game today. But Ponder is still having a better year than any QB drafted before him. The Vikes are 5-2 but some fans act like we’re 2-5.

You guys blame everyone but Ponder, AP just had a big game behind the same Oline its clear Ponder was stinking it up out their. He makes the same mistakes over and over and people makes excuses for him. We thought Skelton was suck but he clearly out played Ponder this guy is not our future i can see a repeat of t-jack. Oh the other hand i wanna thank Harrison Smith for the pick 6 because we would’ve lost without it

Really?! No, stop now. It has nothing to do with not having faith in your team. It has to do with WANTING A DIVISION TEAM TO LOSE! The Bears currently have one less loss than the Vikings. I believe it is common sense to want them to lose, so they have the same amount of losses and one less win than the Vikings. You’re comment simply amazes me and confounds me.

Why would someone want their division rival to win, unless their playing another division rival? A team can’t win the division if the other teams have a better record them. Isn’t that just football common sense?
By Erik the Red on Oct 21, 2012 | Reply
Exactly Immure, it would be great for the Lions to win against the Bears because it would directly help the Vikings. There is nothing wrong with that. While yes, Ponder played like garbage today, but the Vikings still won. I still have plenty of faith in this team, Ponder just has to get back to playing well.

Randall Cunningham was good, Dante Culpepper was good until he got injured. Brett Favre was a pro QB at the age of 41 in 2009. And Christian Ponder is in his second season of his career. Aaron Rodgers didn’t play until Favre left, which was after his 3rd year in the NFL. Research, young grasshoppah, is an important thing to look into.
