Walsh Again Up For Pepsi Max Rookie of the Week on NFL.com

Posted by Ryan Cardinal on September 25, 2012 – 10:11 am

For the second time in three weeks, Vikings rookie kicker Blair Walsh is one the candidates for this week’s Pepsi Max Rookie of the Week on NFL.com.

To vote for Walsh, click here.

Walsh had another impressive day going three for three on extra points which included making a 52-yard field goal in the second quarter to help the Vikings edge the San Francisco 49ers 24-13.  Walsh’s 52 yarder made him the first kicker in franchise history to have three straight games with a field goal of at least 50 yards.

On the young season Walsh is 7-7 on field goal attempts.

You don’t have to tell us! He is like getting A.P., Harvin, Allen, Greenway, Winfield in kicker form! he has done everything he has been asked! another diamond in the rough for the Vikings, Vikes could not of gotten a better kicker.

Blair Walsh has been playing like a “Top Notch” veteran kicker- Awesome!

Walsh and Kalil have both been great additions this year.

I am looking forward to seeing Simpson play this weekend. Hopefully he will take some defenders away from the line of scrimmage to free up the run and short throws underneath.

Where are all the folks screaming about the pick during the draft? Huh, where are all of them? People yelling how bad a move to draft a kicker so high, how it was a waste.

@Titus..Its ok we know..Us as fans want to go for the home run all the time..

Many fans were also cussing picking up Ponder at #12 last year. I believe he will continue to improve with every game and he may prove to be the best QB taken in last years draft….. Time will tell.

Spielman and company have made some really choices in the last 2 drafts. Quarterback, Left Tackle, and Kicker will be solid for many years to come.

I almost forgot to mention Harrison Smith. He has been playing very well for a rookie safety. Another great pick.

not to be a downer but has anyone seen anything on Tobys back to back to back fumbles????? That was a freak occurrence.

josh robinson too made an amazing play. about time we get an interception. i hope it continues

I wouldnt call it an amazing play, Alex Smith threw it right to him.

its amazing because it hadnt happened to smith in like 255 pass attempts and the fact that for a rookie the moment was not too big for him. He actually caught it, most guys get too excited and drop it, then he tried to return it but chad and the rest of the guys were telling him to get down, and he had the presence of mind to realize and get down. amazing play for us, to show that we can hang with the big boys when everyone said we sucked. we did what no one had

Tell that to A. Allen Spencer, he was sitting on his couch amazed that a defensive player could catch a p a ss that hit his hands

Don’t get me wrong, im happy Robinson got the pick…but it just wasnt that amazing of a play. It was amazing that we actually got an interception though haha.

Cant wait to see him guard Titus Young next week.

also when you watch the play robinson stopped shadowing the receiver and was reading smith’s eyes. that is a sign of a ball hawk. the receiver and smith were on the wrong page but robinson read the play well.

detroit squeaked, and i mean SQUEAKED, by last year in both games. if everyone is upset about last nights ref call, what about last year with the FACE MASK SEEN AROUND THE WORLD on Webb with time running out? real refs blatantly missed that call.

Sir Greasy Panda..Good one we all seen that face mask hold

He was in the right place at the right time and made a great play. Give him full credit. I didn’t see your guy, Cook, making any big plays. Oh but he is the next big thing….(sarcasm).

This is the begining to one of the best defenses ever to play the game, remember when they were just starting to get good! (now)
