Mr. Hippe’s Weather Report

Posted by Mike Wobschall on September 16, 2012 – 10:55 am

It wouldn’t be a Vikings (outdoor) road game without Mr. Hippe’s Weather Report. We have good news: Mr. Hippe is returning for another season of weather observations.

Mr. Hippe (aka Luther Hippe, the Vikings Director of Operations-Team Travel) has provided us with his first weather report of the season. He’s calling for sunny skies and a game-time temperature of 78 degrees here at Lucas Oil Stadium, where the retractable roof and the huge sliding wall are open.

Perfect football weather and another perfect weather report from Mr. Hippe.

Year after year the vikings one of the worst teams at stopping 3rd downs..could be 20 and 3rd to 60 and 3rd and somehow teams regularly get a first down on them..so far ver poor tacckling also

Why are people focusing on the offense? This defense is a pile right now. Can’t get off the field except by giving up touchdowns.

It’s 90% scheme/playcalling 10% poor execution. Our offense is so stale and boring. No idea what Ponder is doing out there, Kalil can’t block worth anything, defense is pathetic we give the same boring predictable look every play

The Vikings are in a rebuilding mode..Ithere is reason why this team has struggled the last 2 years and will do many times this year. the.overall talent level is at mid nfl level……..many errors made by spielman and company after the last playoff appearance…fans have to realize this is a slow process to become a top team…i know the vikings have many good fans but some are very naive on this site where we could have a team of 12 year olds wearing viking uniforms and they would predict playoffs for them…

All I know is Tampa 2 is not going to get the job done here.. We just sit back and let teams pass on us..We don’t blitz we just sit around and let D-line try to do everything for us

This defense is one of the worst I’ve ever seen on a Viking team!! I look at the Colts and they have absolutely nobody on their team be we make them look like all-pros!! The days of the great Viking teams are behind us now!! We may have to settle in for a few more years of losing records!! Leslie Frazier has no business coaching this team, he looks lost!!!

  12. By 61Vikings on Sep 16, 2012 | Reply

The Colts are using second stringers on their offensive line because most of their starters are hurt and we still don’t have a pass rush!!! Absolutely pathetic!! I agree, Tampa 2 not working for this team!!

This is EMBARRESSING!!!! One minute-forty some seconds to go in the half, and they go 3 and out in 20 seconds?????????
Start the second half with the same garbage, run up the middle, 5 yard pass, run up the middle, 5 yard pass, and PUNT.

Anyone who thinks Ponder didn’t do well needs to rethink how they evaluate football 114.6 QB rating 27-35 245 2 tds 77% completion. He had a better game than Andrew luck did 20/31 2 tds 107.5 qb rating. If you think Webb should take over then you should rethink that and consider this stat line and blame the defense for this loss.

Like I say, if we wouldn’t have shot ourselves in the foot so many times, we could be 2-0 right now. The D could have done a better job, too, I agree.

  175. By Matthias on Sep 16, 2012 | Reply

You should blame everybody, besides a few guys (people watching the game know who I mean), not only the coach. Is Frazier responsible for bad plays like hitting the kicker or a late hit on Luck? No.

What we need is a better pass rush… Most of you guys don’t recognize that we don’t have a true #1 receiver right now and that our 2nd starting TE isn’t playing? Besides that we didn’t run the ball in the 2nd half that often, because our fullback was injured and we don’t want to see Peterson hurt again.

@ Matthias….here’s the thing (I think)! If we have a good coaching staff then the players are disciplined not to make stupid plays. If the coach allows it then they make stupid plays and get stupid calls that lead to a loss. Did you see the coach after the stupid mistakes, he might as well have given them a high five.

Honestly, yelling does nothing. Very rarely does a player get pumped up after getting scolded and yelled at. Im sure they get an ear full from the coaches behind closed doors. We just don’t see it. You guys are just angry and frustrated and therefore feel that the coaches need to yell at their players to vent some of YOUR anger and frustrations. You don’t think the coaches and players are frustrated themselves? especially the coaches? There’s no need to add to it by yelling at your players.

  205. By Matthias on Sep 16, 2012 | Reply

@ Secret, I still think Frazier is a good coach. Who else should we get anyways? A new coach means another year of rebuilding and the players have to respect him first. Frazier is well respected in this organization and players seem to like him.

YOU just need to understand that he has a different way of motivating his players. So since rex ryan is always loud and yelling at his players, he is a good coach right? I think packer is gone– his parents found him hiding under the trailer and are putting him to bed in the chicken coop.

I don’t think we will beat the 49ers but I will say this, i watched Ponder this week and last week drive and make win and what could have been a win in the last minutes of the game. That is something you want in a QB, I will give him credit for that.

Ponder is the only NFC North QB not to throw an INT in the first 2 weeks. Rodgers 2, Cutler 5 and Stafford 3. And Stafford still has to play tonite. He’ll probably throw 2 more.

Very disappointing game. The coaches, the poor play calling, and no sense of urgency ever. No heart. The thing that really hurt was seeing the Colts get 40 yards in the closing seconds. Man, I wonder what it feels like to root for a team that can do that? It’s going to be a long year. Owners: please start the new HC search ASAP.

    Ponder…27of 35…245 yds..2 TD’s pa s sing rating of 114.6…No int’s…

Why the hate for Ponder ??..

    First half…Ponder 8 of 10…60 yds…

    Running plays first half…17..for 90 yds…

    _________________

    Ponder 19 of 25 second half throwing…185 yds…

    Running plays 9…for 5 yds…

And Ponder does throw 2 TD’s this week…

    _________________

Last week Ponder threw for almost 200 yds in the second half of his 270 total last week…No ints…

Why is Frazier pushing this “RUN FIRST” offense ???…

When it is clear Ponder is doing well…When opposing defenses are EXPECTING the Vikings to throw…Being down in points badly in the second half !!!….

    COACHING lost this game !!!…

Not Ponder or any of the other players on this team !!…

Wow Spencer, Cook got schooled this game. Why don’t I hear any talk about Mistral Raymond?

  280. By Awesome Beyond Belief on Sep 16, 2012 | Reply

People have to calm down. So, if we win next week, and it is possible, will everyone calling for Frazier’s head now be praising him next week? It is a process. The Cards beat the Patriots in Boston today– does that make Belichick and Brady underperformers?

I don’t see how anyone can say this was a well coached team playing today or defend the coaching. It was downright BAD.

no but frazier not making the right calls and not doing his job well at all is a problem he will suck next week just like he sucked last week … yess we won last week but he still sucked…I have been calling for his head since last year when he made stupid calls and never ever could do exactly that…COACH

5 years, 25 million for Carlson.
Brandon Lloyd signed for 12 million of 3 years.
Manningham signed for 7.3 million over 2 years.
Robert Meachem signed for 25 million over 4 years.

How can anybody say Carlson is helping us more than either of those other 3.

Vikings came to the party to late…AGAIN…Frazier style…

For some reason the coaching staff feels the game will come to them…

Instead of just going out there and take control of the game…

If the Vikings are going to have ANY chance of winning against the 49ers next week…

Ponder will need to throw the football 50 times…

And Frazier will never allow that to happen…

Because it will be his game plan to once again “establish the run first”…Just like every game he has ever coached…

Frazier’s game plan is like a broken record that never gets fixed…

Desperation might alter his plans ???…It is the only thing that ever does change that game plan…

And Im sorry about whoever said this was all a coaches fault ,your incorrect coaches dont causes 20 of the most stupid penalty calls you could never believe happened but they did ,did you watch the game….It was dictated completely by our penalties,my god there was a flag every other play it seemed…..

I hate to say I told you so, but I told all you last week that our D would put us in a hole early, Ponder would rally late, but in the end we’d come up short, 24-20. Easy prediction – if Gabbert and the Jags (who really S^&ck) nearly beat us at home, what did you think Luck was going to do? Plus, our D always seems to choke in big situations and they were true to form again today. And finally we get the standard list of lame excuses and promises “to get things fixed for next week by Leslie F. Sadly the Niners will kill the Vikes next week 37-10.

Poor play calling from the coaching staff leads to frustrated players…

    Frustrated players make foolish penalties…

Coaches are responsible for getting the team ready and execute a solid game plan. The team was clearly not ready, made tons of mistakes (poor preparation), and had a horrible game plan. Nice play calling. The D just is not good, the secondary is still awful. Nice job ladies giving up the 40+ yards in final seconds. BTW, is there a stat for teams who lose the most games in final 30 seconds by a field goal? The Vikings have got to be the all time leader in this category! Every year they have a few losses like this.

  294. By Don_Pisto on Sep 16, 2012 | Reply

The post game press conference was embarrassing. Our HC is lost. Had to reach in his pocket to read off the same canned statements from other past losses.

bench ponder, start Webb. Joe didnt throw good preseason (throwing off his back foot) Webb would give more excitement to the offense and make linebacks sit at home giving the recieving core more holes. Get your game together vikes

Oh c’mon on, lacking what it takes to win, is it the coach? have you seen any of the responses Frazier gives? he is totally relaxed, like he does not know or care. It would be nice if he had emotion, maybe a expression or two!

  297. By OTKalil2012 on Sep 16, 2012 | Reply

Spielman must be smiling from ear to ear !!!…

All this OBIVIOUS talent on this team that he drafted…

And Frazier calls such a conservative game plan…That he can’t even beat the worst team in football last season !!!…With most of the starters even sitting on the bench for the Colts…

This is a team that will not win many games this season with Frazier guiding the way…

But a team that another head coaching prospect after this season would LOVE to get his hands onto and mold into a super bowl winner !!!..

I can only imagine how good this team could be…With another great draft like this last spring at the hands of Spielman again…And then being able to hand pick Frazier’s successor himself…

A few observations from the game from my opinion.
1st Yards after reception. It was better this game, but still times when they were getting a bunch of yards after the catch. Winfield’s tackles show how to stop this.
2nd Penalties wow talking about killing drives and giving live to the other team. These were stupid mental mistakes.
3rd.The Colts were well prepared for our offensive game plan. I am not sure if it is because Musgrave is too predictable or what. Ponder didn’t have open receivers and stated in the pocket just a bit too long. The Oline was beat a few times once was Johnson on that fumble. Loadholt and Kalil were both getting beat.
4th We need to get a WR that can break away from defenders. (like Wayne and Allen did) Musgrave must adjust the game plan quicker when the opposing team is prepared for the plan we have. Too much focus on the run.
5th Jerad Allen need to focus on the tackle and less on the sack. He missed some nice tackles when he was focusing on the QB.
6th This game was about penalties and in ability to adjust the game plan until too late. This was on Musgrave and the Players. In my opinion Ponder, AP, Winfield, and Harvin had a good game. Need to adjust faster.
