Sad to see Todman go, and I am also surprised at us keeping seven LBs (especially Larry Dean) and four TEs.

Webb over Rosenfels? I sure don’t understand that.

  11. By Mike B. on Aug 31, 2012 | Reply

The coaches like Webb for his unpredictability coming in as a back or in a wildcat. MBT showed he might be another option in the future. Lastily the price is right.

  12. By JE on Aug 31, 2012 | Reply

Iagree!! Todman was the better choice. We have power backs. We need speed and quickness. I am not saying i dont like Asiata but i liked Todman ALOT better!!! J ust what running back are you going to throw the ball too?? Todman was that back.

Todman had one long run in one meaningless preseason game. I wish him well, but the backs they kept offer more to the team. Will be interesting to see which receiver, if any, is let go when J. Simpson comes back in week 4.

We can probably get Toddman back on PS. What I hope we are doing now is prowling the waiver wire looking for WR help. Cuz “the show” as i have so lovingly nicknamed him, needs to go (devin Aroma”show”du). haha

I geuss the vikings dont know what a screen pass is. Every team in the league throws the ball to there running backs but us. Todman would have been a great back to compliment AP and Toby.WHY?? WHY??

  24. By Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus on Aug 31, 2012 | Reply

Aromadishu is the best WR we have, bar none.

  25. By Curtis Johnson on Aug 31, 2012 | Reply

  26. By sandiamond on Aug 31, 2012 | Reply

Now the question is will Spielman have the ballz to gamble on the waiver wire or just add back these player cuts???????

  27. By TheValentine84 on Aug 31, 2012 | Reply

Not sure cutting Todman was the right decision. Seems to me that moving Asiata to FB and cutting Felton would allow you to keep both Asiata and Todman. Excited about the rest of the roster and can’t wait for the start of the season!

Tried to reply directly to this but the Vikes website won’t let me. I’m glad Gurley got let go by the Packers. Last year, Gurley chose to say on the Packers practice squad rather than sign a contract with the Vikings and be an active player on an NFL roster. For those kids at home: Don’t ever trust what Ted Thompson or Mike McCarthy tell you, and two, when opportunity knocks, don’t ignore that knock.

dont look at it as the depth chart. And also things are going to happen with pickups, clearing waivers and practice squad etc. Larry Dean is a good LB except he is simmply too small ! Nicke Reed has done FAR MORE than DeAundre Reed at DE and should have made the roster. There is NO WAY Todman clears waivers. He is gone and we blew it ! He was our 3rd back and it’s a shame… As far as I am concerned John Carlson was a HUGE MISTAKE free agent signing………..

If Todman makes it big on another team, I will be the first person on here to say I we made a huge mistake But he was undrafted and on PS for a reason. I for one don’t like Felton, he blocks pretty poorly for someone who is supposed to block all the time, but I think our RB’s are solid. You guys are getting hysterical over positions that shouldn’t even be a big deal. Sage? Who cares. Webb? Talent but unnecessary if Ponder plays well. Toby can handle the load and is a better receiver than you guys give him credit for, he and AP could both score on screens.

and dear Odin himself, Titus, I hope you are kidding about Devin Aromashodu. haha

Deja Vu– we got rid of Sage a couple years ago– what is up with this merry-go-round. Even the announcers last night said that when Sage came in, the whole team seemed to sigh relief and relax– Webb is hyper-anxious and is a one-man show. I like a lot of the roster, but keeping Webb over Sage– well, maybe I am being too critical. He might become decent. But WE KEPT THE HYPHEN!!! SO COOL!

Joe webb is in his first full year at QB sage has been in the league 10 yrs he hit his ceiling long time ago and yes he did good agaisnt second and third defenses but he also struggled against these same defenses, defenses hes been seeing for 10 yrs and much simpler ones at that during the preseason. Age potential money all are advatange Webb. People are mad cause Joe didnt wow but he had the least throwing attempts of our 4 qb’s and again his first full year at one position, it is as if he is a rookie and not only the vikings believe he has the tools to be a starter its just not going to be this year. Get behind Ponder and know that Webb is a great back up option. Especially when you add his ability to run its a simple football and even simpler buisness decision.

AJ Jefferson had 60 solo tackles and 1 interception last year. He went to Fresno State were he was a stud on the return team. He averaged 29.4 yards per return and had 3 touchdowns. I just hope we gave up a last round draft choice because it seems that he isn’t worth much more then that. He made the Cardinals team as an undrafted rookie free agent. Since there are 53 on the final roster (not counting WR Johnson, as he won’t be counted until game 4) and only 21 of the required 22 cuts/IR additions for the day, the only reasonable conclusion is that Wobby messed up again and forgot to add him to the cut list.

Titus, you genius.. this message is for you. I wish I could say that I knew without a doubt, that what you said was sarcasm, but it wasn’t and either you are simply trying to get attention, or plain ignorant.

Aromashodu set a new low last season for the Minnesota Vikings; he had the worst receptions per target than any receiver in the last 20 years.

Titus, you simply got caught up in the most meaningless game of the year.

I will not accept the idea that is was not his fault or even the thought that it was any ones fault but his. Harvin had the second highest receptions per target in the league last year, that puts to bed any misconception that someone else may be to blame.

Aromashodu played more snaps than Harvin last season and managed a pathetic 26 catches and 1 touchdown.

I know you will have something to say, but save it. You are wrong and you are ignorant, despite what you try to pass off as.

Gives me a bad feelilng and worse. Sounds like a big mistake for the Vikings…but Rosenfels could finally get on a winning team. I hope. He is a more consistent player than Webb and is an intelligent player. The Vikings need intelligent players…not just grunts. Just doesn’t feel right….

If Berger is ever used on the OL we will be having problems. Last night I noticed multiple times where he wasn’t directly blocking anyone, and he actually stepped out of the way of a blitzer who rattled the QB (including 1 or 2 sacks).

I am very surprised that DeGeare didn’t beat him out for the backup spot. He did well a couple years ago when Hutch got injured, but apparantly has gotten worse since then.

this team needs more than a wide out and a lineman..

  123. By Woodboat on Aug 31, 2012 | Reply

I said this yesterday…. who gives a c r a p about Todman, other than Todman? The #3 RB is going to see the field in the neighborhood of never.

Felder saw next to no time in preseason… and some of you think he’d going to be a thorn in our side. If he was that good, I would think he could have taken one of the 6 CB slots available. Or would you guys want the team to devote a 7th slot to CB?

Which O Lineman do you folks want to pull out of the rotation and teach to be the long-snapper. I believe every team in the league has one, and ours is supposedly darned good, but I guess we don’t need to have anyone dependable to get the ball to Kluwe whether he’s punting or holding for the kick. Skipping the ball or launching it over the punters head isn’t much of an issue, right?

As CC says…. “Come on, man!” I’ve got no problem with the choices. I’d have liked to see Sage over Webb, but I can understand why they went the way they did. I’d be willing to bet a modest sum that the current 53 man roster isn’t what it will be when the team heads to Jacksonville. There’s some talent looking for a new home out there in the unemployment line.

I really like the list. So happy to see Asiata on there representing my home-state. Sorry to see Sage go, but I think it was time. I think we have 3 great QB’s that are going to offer us versitility and great leadership. Even though we do not have a veteran QB in the mix, that is not going to stop them from being succesful. Audie Cole is the man and I was glad to see him get the nod. All I can say is that Sanford and Cook better shine like the sun or else they are going to get lit on fire…

  126. By Woodboat on Aug 31, 2012 | Reply

I would hate to see Plax signed, even for the league minimum. He’s not going to improve this squad enough to matter, and why take in a problem vet? The guys we have can catch a ball if Ponder can get it to them. If they can get another kid like Childs (except one with kneecaps…), I wouldn’t mind that.

  127. By lordfrza on Aug 31, 2012 | Reply

Webb will not be on this team next year. His contract will be up and we have wasted enough time trying to develop a WR into a QB. I used to be all for the Joe Webb experiment, but now I’d rather have T. Jacks back than waste anymore time on him.

I like the three Qb’s coach has kept. I would like to see more of Bethe-Thompson as I do not know much about him. We now have 3 young Qbs that can learn the system and challege eachother on a daily basis. Webb has mobility, which will be great in a wildcat formation. McLeod has velocity which is a great asset fitting the ball in tight places on timing routes. kinda of what Favre did with his TEs. McLeod in my opinion, needs to relax more in the pocket and he will be fine. Ponder? Well, I wish him a good season. I hope that he does much better than last season (by far) and shows us VIKING fans that he has great talents.
One of my concerns is at Lb. Caoch, go pick someone up! Dean,Really!? By the fourth preseason game you should know how to WRAP someone up and make a TACKLE!!!!! Need me say more? just saying

    ___________________________________________________________________

I will keep this brief, my man. Listen up– I hardly watched the past two preseason games– I claimed Armoadishu as our best long ago, pre-preseason.
Second, I will save it– to enlighten those who only see what is behind them is an utter waste of my energy.

I would rather MBT on practice and Sage stay.

Asiatta should’ve taken the FB and Todman the 3rd RB
I would’ve taken Hilliard at FB over Felton.

I hate Berger ever since watching him get man handled last year when he stepped in.

Would’ve kept Arceneaux until Simpson came back and put Blanton on Practice Squad.

Once Ellison and Reisner figure out how to get open against starting caliber players John Carlson should be traded for whatever they can get.

Liked what I saw from Nick Reed over D’Aundre Reed at back up DE.

I like the back up LB’s and Audie is ok but he still looks unsure at times. Minus the 2 pick 6’s of course.

Really wish there was a better option than Bowman backing up the CB spot but there really wasn’t.

And I understand its important to have a trusty long snapper but can’t a back up lineman learn to do that on the side and save a roster spot or can Cullen Loeffler also play guard and center effectively if they need him too.

so far I like what has been done but I want to see whats picked up off the waiver wire thats where we can put ourselves in a better position. Sage is not a better choice that webb because webb knows the offense and has shown he can run it. he’s more mobile and is younger. he can also be used in a spread formation as a slot reciever. He has way more uses and potential.

Keep todman at 3rd RB. We need a speedy guy like that who can catch, we’re the only team that doesn’t utilize a RB to catch like c’mon.. it’s common sense it almost seems.

Webb was drafted to play as a receiver, he said he didn’t want to be a receiver he wanted to be a quarterback! since when does a player get his choice? he’s here to help the team. It’s players like him we don’t need. Make him play receiver or tail back, if not get rid of him….is’nt that the way it is suppose to be! if they believe he can play qb he hasn’t showed it in 2 years. His running ability gets him out of the jam every time! he should be watching F Tarkenton films on how to scramble if they insist he stay at qb position.

I understand wanting to keep Joe Webb on the team but put him in a position where he can help the team, a little veteran leadership could be a benefit to these young quarterbacks. Webb is a fantastic athlete but a pocket passer he has not proven to be. How many years have you spent grooming him for that when he could be spending that time mastering a position that a great athlete like him could truly excel at. We’ve tried the running QB before but this is a passing league, we managed to get to the playoffs with a guy who could barely walk a few years ago. Patience, decision making and confidence are invaluable to a winning QB but to a GM they can be your downfall.

We have a nice recieving corps that will be in it’s second year and we have added some great hands and speed. We did very well in the draft on both sides of the ball and now ponder has a chance to have better protection. I’m predictiona good seaon and close to a playoff spot and then next yr watchout. I still say we have a good chance for the playoffs and I’m giving the team and coaches my full support. From what i’ve seen this year so far, Webb should be flipped with the 3rd stringer . The kid looked better to me. Webb filled in and won when other teams didn’t know how fast he was. Now they know him and plan for him. He doesn’t seem to overcome that……..go vikes.

Wow- sure a lot of whining going on and we haven’t even played a regular season game yet. Nice to see the real fans supporting this team. I say it is time to “Purple Up” and get to it. Stop the back-biting and give this very young team a chance to get its feet wet. As far as I am concerned, right now our chances are just like anyone elses. The Vikes anre going to make their own destiny and none of you whiners are going to change that. This is not a “Lousey Coching Staff” Viking181164- just one that is getting its sea-legs. I have never been a big Frazier fan and even have criticized him for his lack of emotion during games, but saw some great stuff this preseason- He was giving high fives and sayiing good job and being vocal. I had not seen that before. This team likes Frazier and is responding to his methods and I for one have to say I was wrong in being so quick to criticize. Let’s let them get through the first 4 games and then if you whiners want to way in with your “I Told you so’s” then so be it. I for one am going to be the one cheering louder the tougher it may get…

troutdaddy i’m glad someone agrees with me this seems to be a good team and every year there is a surprise team and that team will be the vikings. we have to give frasier time like anyother coach. It took tomlin and dungy a few years to win a superbowl so lets give frazier this yr atleast this will be his second full and this is his second full yr.I won’t say the whinners aren’t true fans but lets all show they will let the actions of the team speak
