Vikings Tweak Roster Before First Padded Practice

Posted by Mike Wobschall on July 30, 2012 – 12:23 pm

The Vikings will conduct their first padded practice of 2012 Verizon Vikings Training Camp on Monday afternoon, but before they do the team made a few tweaks to the roster.

DB Nick Taylor was waived with the injured designation, and the Vikings signed DB Chris Stroud to fill the vacant roster spot. Taylor injured his shoulder early in camp, and Vikings Head Coach Leslie Frazier said that the injury would require major surgery. Stroud is a rookie and comes to the Vikings from Webber International.

The team also reported that WR Stephen Burton had passed his physical. Burton has been dealing with a toe injury that kept him out of action the first few days of camp, but passing the physical is a step in the right direction to getting back on the field.

Some people say that we must “stay on topic.” Well, don’t you think that is nearly impossible sometimes?

Jones rarely strays from football, although I often stray from the headline topic.

It’s true that many Viking fans don’t get in to watching pre-season games. Many of us are, however, too excitable about them. Just because we lose a pre-season game, that does not mean it’s the end of the world.

We need to try to be a little bit more patient. The same is true of the first few regular season games.

8-8 would be a decent season for these Vikings. I hope they do better, but to expect that is suicidal.

    Is there any tackling today?

As returning graduate student, Jones has to spend some time on the computer.

(My dream job would be to have a big truck, go around and gather up computers, and throw them into the ocean! Computers are one of the worst things to hit our society.)

Never the less, I will miss some blog time once school starts up again. But for now you will have to deal with Jonesie!!!

There will be no tackling today. There will be hitting but no to the ground tackling.

Nick Taylor cut for injury before he even puts on the pads. Maybe there was a good reason that he was a basketball player…

While preseason game mean nothing in regards to regular season standings, as a fan, I like to watch them and get a chance to watch some of our draft picks and 2nd-3rd stringers.

Call me a class has half full type of guy, because I want to remind Vikes fans that last year we had 9 losses by 7 points or less. 9 of them. We are one or two players away from being relevant again. If Ponder has any improvement in his play, I would like to say a 9-7 season is not out of the question, with a possible 2-0 start.

    Losses by 7 or less:
    Chargers by 7
    Buccaneers by 4
    Lions by 3
    Chiefs by 5
    Packers by 6
    Raiders by 6
    Broncos by 3
    Lions by 6
    Bears by 4
