Excellent! I really didn’t think the Browns would go for it. Hopefully we can pick up a surprise player or 2 with the extra picks!

Is Tampa really into Claiborne? We can trade once more with them, move down to 5 and get their 4th rounder (even value). Then we’d have Kalil, and get 3 consecutive picks in the early 4th round…sounds exciting…

By the way, the Jags paid a 4th rounder for the Bucs’ pick.
That means the Bucs got less for getting out of Claiborne/Blackmon’s range than we did for letting another team come in front of us to grab a player that wasn’t a potential target.
After all the critics he drew, Spielman seems to be handling his first draft as a GM pretty well. Let’s just hope that will hold true for the next two days.

Look, a Standing QB is a necessity holmes. You can have the three best receivers in the league, if the QB can’t throw the ball, they do nothing.

No matter what, I’m a VIKING FAN ALL THE WAY… have been since 1968… just don’t know if I can take another year like 2011… between that and the stadium situation being a VIKING fan is a real wild ride….

Congratulations, Mr. Spiellman you just covered up, or doubled down, on one wrong choice to make another; two wrongs don’t make it right. Ponder was a reach and a total mistake last year and you and Leslie cover it up this year by playing it safe. You passed on a phenomenal corner and a great receiver and you guys pick a flicking under sized tackle to protect a weak QB? Thank god for Alice see you in LA.

  155. By Alan L on Apr 26, 2012 | Reply

WR should have been addressed in FA. The level of WR’s in the draft is low. We need to move up in the draft to fill up are poor defensive backfield and weak LB corp all we have is Winfield and Greenway.

  156. By RyanSTP on Apr 26, 2012 | Reply

PAVIKE, I don’t know anything bout him, I read a headline about us signing a speedy outside receiver, but nonetheless we do have a lot of picks remaining, and I do like Jenkins, Harvin, Aromashadu, Rudolph, and possibly Carlson. Jenkins and Aroma I think need to be upgraded, but not nearly as bad as our offensive tackles, safeties, and 2 cbs if Cook stays clean. I just think WR doesn’t make the concern list until this far down. We nee a Blackmon, we just cant afford it right now, we need other spots more…

Alshon Jeffries!!!! NO!!!!! NO MORE WR’s FROM SC!!!!!! BAD IDEA!!!!! Troy Williamson, Strike 1, Sidney Rice, Strike 2, Alshon Jeffries…… Don’t strike out.
OUTVIKINGS: You have seen enough to say Ponder is a bust? What team are you a scout for? Oh, not a scout? Then WTF do you know? It’s pretty obvious by your comment you are a closet Packer fan(Cuz of Ponders rookie debut against those chumps) or a complete idiot. Ponder was thrown to the fire AFTER A LOCKOUT OFFSEASON!!!!! Dude. You just don’t get it. Ponder did a great job considering what he had to overcome. He did better than McNabb, who has been to a super bowl, and a bunch of NFC champ games….. what’s your argument? The Viking team is soooo good around Ponder therefore he is grossly underperforming??????

I guess it was to much like right to get Claiborne, huh? We need corners, safeties, linebackers, a defensive tackle, defensive end, a wide receiver, and two more offensive linemen.

I have not given up on Ponder, but it was certainly a dumb pick to pick him at #12 last year when he was a second round talent. Williamson (1st RDP) zero good years, Rice (2nd RDP)one good years Jeffries two good years??????????? Most likely not in the 2nd but the third if he was to fall, but not likely.

Floyd and Fitz in Arizona? I think I might make them my second favorite team. All my family retires in AZ, now all MN natives are starting to play in AZ!

@ Alan L Redskins were high on Ponder…. if we didn’t take him they would have. I dont know how many times this has to be explained lol.

Wow – I had Irvin listed as a 3rd rounder – first reach?

Then they should have let the redskin take him and go with Mcnabb and you may have had your pick of Qb’s in tonights draft or look for someone in FA.

Should have, could have. We will see a lot more of what Ponder has this year. I believe he is the next Tom Brady. Kalil will help him tremendously.

This is a very good day in Vikingsland. What is going on with the stadium?
