Cody C, that would be a sick trade. We’d get our starting LT, could draft Floyd if available or Kendall Wright at 16, then take a CB and S in rounds 2 and still be stocked with picks for the future

Just one more time…there are only 3 blue-chip players in this draft…the two QBs and Trent Richardson. So, draft Richardson at #3, and then let everyone immediately come to us to get him.

The vikings will get Clairborne?, the cornerback from LSU, whether they trade out of number 3 or not.

With all the talk of trading our pick, I’m reminded of a story written by Pat McManus (outdoor humorist) – he wrote about his prowess at gun trading. He and a buddy went to a gun show – Pat had 3 rifles, 2 shotguns, and a Colt .45 as trading stock, his buddy went with 4 empty .30-.30 casings and a belt buckle.

They split up and went on a trading frenzy. At the end of the day Pat’s buddy had 6 rifles, 3 shotguns, a case of ammo, and a crisp new Stetson. Pat had 4 empty .30-.30 casings and a belt buckle.

The Vikings of the past 15-20 years remind me of Pat, not his buddy. Sold the farm for Herschel – bust. Brought in Cunningham – didn’t pan out. Spent millions on Favre – oh so close but again disappointment.

We have a golden opportunity to take what amounts to a “sure thing” in Kalil. Why in the world would we throw that away? Because we’re Pat McManus, not his buddy.

Oh, and Rick S – Please don’t waste a pick on a kicker (as several others have suggested). We don’t need to pay someone to ride the pine during Longwell’s final year. Kickers don’t “mentor” that way.

Kickers are like milk – you don’t stock up. You go get more when you need it.

Here is a trade scenario trade with the Bengals for thier two 1st round picks and a 4th for the Vikings 1st. They get Richardson. While the Vikings get WR Floyd and LT Martin or CB Dre Kirkpatrick.

Reports are saying the Vikings are in fact leaning towards Claiborne.
