Vikings Fans To Host “Stadium Huddles” During Super Bowl

Posted by Mike Wobschall on February 3, 2012 – 12:02 pm

With the 2012 Legislative Session underway, Vikings fans are once again stepping up to help resolve the long-standing stadium issue. To show support for finalizing a deal this session, fans across the state are signing up to host “Stadium Huddles” at their Super Bowl parties this weekend.

“Our fans have been great about supporting the team throughout this process,” said Vikings Vice President of Public Affairs and Stadium Development Lester Bagley. “We’re now at a critical juncture at the State Capitol and we need fans’ voices to push us over the top.”

Anyone interested in more information on hosting a Stadium Huddle this weekend, joining Minnesota Momentum or other ways to get involved and make their support known can visit the new stadium playbook page on vikings.com.

Additionally, Street Teams will visit various bars and restaurants around the state this Sunday to share stadium information and sign up new supporters. The teams will visit the following locations just prior to kickoff and during the first half of the game:

Mankato – Boomtown (1600 Warren Street, #17)
Maple Grove – Champps Sports Bar & Grill (135121 80th Circle N)
Maple Grove – The Lookout (8672 Pineview Lane)
Maplewood – Champps Sports Bar & Grill (1734 Adolphus Street)
Rochester – Boomers (3737 40th Avenue NW)
Rochester – Buffalo Wild Wings (3458 55th Street NW)
St. Cloud – Buffalo Wild Wings (3701 W. Division Street)
St. Cloud – Howie’s Sports Bar & Grill (1101 Division Street)
Vadnais Heights – Jimmy’s (1132 County Road E East)

The Vikings are safe in Minnesota for the foreseeable future! Goodell mentioned in two interviews that the NFL wants to keep all the franchises in their current location and if LA were to receive a team it is most likely to be an expansion franchise with another to follow to keep the leagues even!!! So that has to mean the Vikings will be in Minnesota at least for the next 5 years or so. Play at the metrodome, gopher stadium, any where else, the Vikings are staying in the north. I want a new stadium just as bad as anyone, but im glad just to keep them there in MN.

  7. By Sir Greasy Panda on Feb 3, 2012 | Reply

DIsclaimer: Im not up to date on all stadium news and developments but these are my thoughts.

It is my belief that the governor of MN said that RIGHT NOW, due to the economic situation, the only site viable for a new stadium is the metrodome site. But wouldnt it benefit the Vikings to wait another year or two when the state has more funds or there are different legislators in place to push for the stadium and site they prefer rather than just settle for an area that is not wanted??? The vikings know they have no political power right now, the threats of leaving have not scared the state, so play the game, wait, gain some reps in your pocket and in a year or two push again.

  8. By DRS on Feb 3, 2012 | Reply

Sir Greasy Panda, the Vikings have waited years, they have let the twins, and gophers have their stadiums, if you wait for the Government have money for a stadium, then you are a fool, it will never happen, they will never have the money. How long do wait, it has been at least 9+ years?

  9. By DRS on Feb 3, 2012 | Reply

Sir Greasy Panda, How long do you think the NFL give welfare to the Vikings to play in that stinking dome?

  10. By DRS on Feb 3, 2012 | Reply

It is amoney loser for the team!!!!

  11. By Spencer on Feb 3, 2012 | Reply

Why does it seem like everybody hates the Dome? last time I went there(04?) it seemed like a good stadium.

  12. By DRS on Feb 3, 2012 | Reply

Spencer, back when it was built it was the cheapest stadium they could find with a roof on it. We the fans wanted a semi open-air stadium, but Minnesota was too cheap and used the same arguments they are using today not to build the Vikings a state of the art stadium, that stinking dome is ok for High School and such but not for an NFL team. Not even the twins wanted that thing.

  13. By DRS on Feb 3, 2012 | Reply

Football was meant to be played outdoors, not in some stinking dome, I liked playing in the weather and I liked watching outdoors as well, I remember watching the Vikings in the old Met, and boy was it fun, the team was a better team, in my opinion that is after all in the Met they went to 4 SB’s, how many in the dome? Besides we got to tailgate and could part at the stadium, that is why I will never go to a dome game, anywhere.

Speaking today in Indianapolis, Roger Goodell discussed the ” State of the NFL”. On PTI he was quoted as saying that the NFL does NOT want an existing franchise to move to L.A. He said that Los Angeles is in the NFL’s future plans, but not for a couple of years anyway. Tony Kornheiser and Mike Wilbon each mentioned San Diego, Jacksonville and St.Louis as possible teams relocating in the future. The word Minnesota was not mentioned.

I watched the Tom Jones rendition of Purple Rain.

Wouldn’t it be cool if they used that song to inspire the crowd. There would be a lot of ways to do that.

This franchise has suffered in some unique ways. We have lost 4 SBs like Buffalo and Denver. Denver overcame that with 2 SB wins. (Yes, Dallas also lost 4 SBs)

The Vikings, unlike Denver and Buffalo, have been consistent winners year after year to the point of being 5th in all time winning pct. before the start of this season.

Pretty unique for the NFL, I think.

Frazier is not as experienced as Grant was when he took over. His first team was 3-8-3, which was as bad as the year before he took over, if my memory is correct

WE MIGHT AS WELL GET BEHIND FRAZIER FOR THE FIRST 8 GAMES OF THE 2012 SEASON win or lose. LET’S TRY SOME OPTIMISM FOR

I watched the Senior Bowl and saw L.Frazier actually coach a team to a win all though it was a college team and just a bunch of seniors but, at least it was a win. So lets trade him to Oregon for Chip Kelly at least he can motivate players to win, or maybe Al Pocino he also is a great motivator. What say you guys

When you win, everything you say is quoted, you are called smart, every move you make is praised.

When you lose, all of those same exact things are condemned. Been there.

Leslie Frazier may turn out to be a great coach. Let’s get together and give him at least the first 8 games of the 2012 season.

The name of that Packer Lineman that did not get in is Jerry Kramer who was a Pro Bowl Guard for many years.

Many say he could have been the MVP of the “Ice Bowl” versus the Cowboys when he made the winning block at the goal line for Bart Starr.

The problem with the HOF is that there are so many good players. What are you going to do, get rid of the old timers to make room?

Cris Carter should have been there on statistics alone. But no one had better hands than that guy!

Jerry Kramer should have been in. But can you believe M. Tingelhoff didn’t make it?
