The Vikings on Friday claimed QB Sage Rosenfels off of waivers. Rosenfels was most recently with the Miami Dolphins, but was placed on waivers on Thursday.
With the addition of Rosenfels and with Donovan McNabb being waived by the team on Thursday, the Vikings have three QBs on the roster – Christian Ponder, Sage Rosenfels and Joe Webb.
This will be Rosenfels’ second stint with the Vikings. He was acquired by the Vikings via trade from the Houston Texans in February of 2009 and spent the ’09 season with the team. Then he was traded from the Vikings to the NY Giants in September of 2010.
Rosenfels, selected in the 4th round of the 2001 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins, is an 11-year veteran out of Iowa State University.

After using handheld metal detectors in limited fashion during the Vikings-Raiders game on November 20, the Vikings will fully implement the NFL’s new security policy and replace the current pat-down procedure with handheld metal detectors at all gates beginning with Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.
In order to improve the NFL’s new process, the Vikings have hired an additional 60 game day security staff and have added 10 additional points of entry into Mall of America Field.
“We understand this new procedure will be a transition for both Vikings fans and the game day staff,” said Vikings Director of Security Kim Klawiter. “The Vikings are committed to ensuring fans are in their seats for kickoff and have the best game day experience possible. We are asking for our fans’ help as well.”
The Vikings are encouraging fans to:
• Arrive at Mall of America Field early and allow extra time for entrance.
• Remove items from pockets and hold in hands before reaching security.
• Be patient while fans and stadium security staff adjust to the new process.

The Vikings are encouraging fans to bring a new or gently-used jacket to Sunday’s Vikings-Broncos game for donation to The Salvation Army.
Volunteers from “Kids to the Rescue,” a local teen group focused on helping less fortunate children, will be stationed at each gate collecting the jackets from 10:00 a.m. until kickoff at noon. The coats will be given away at The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center on Christmas Day.
Fans that cannot make it to Sunday’s game can donate online at www.thesalarmy.org.
