@Deertracks I can’t agree with you on Webb. He is a very talented player, but I am not sure his tools are used best as a QB. I think he could be good WR or wildcat player. Like Tebow he doesn’t really fit what a NFL QB should be. Just how I see it.

I think it’s time to evaluate the CFLer WR as it is a need.

For those of you who remember Joe Kapp’s days with the Vikings, it seems that he hasn’t lost his feisty attitude…..From today’s Canadian Press….VANCOUVER – There was some early unnecessary roughness at the Grey Cup weekend in Vancouver.
According to various reports, former B.C. Lions quarterback Joe Kapp and 74-year-old ex-Hamilton Ticats defensive lineman Angelo Mosca got into a physical altercation Friday afternoon at a CFL alumni luncheon.
The confrontation reportedly began after a highlight clip was shown from the 1963 Grey Cup, a game where Mosca drilled Lions running back Willie Fleming in what many considered a controversial late hit.
Fleming was forced from the game and Hamilton won the championship.
The altercation on Friday started after the clip when Kapp, 73, offered Mosca flowers as a symbolic peace offering. The sentiment was refused by Mosca and punches were reportedly thrown.
According to witnesses, Mosca used his walking cane to ward off Kapp’s punches.
Mosca’s post-football career included involvement in the World Wrestling Federation…….I say sign Joe up !

I say Joe has no brains, saying sportsmanship after the fight, what is he to stupid to see Angleo is still uneasy about the altercation that happened years back. Then Joe goes and rubs the flowers in his face and starts hitting him with them when Angleo refuses to take them.

Somebody better go put Joe in the nursing home or he is going to keep pushing peple with canes over. Joe seriously made himself look like a complete fool and I am embarassed to say he played for my state.

Why did they not challenge Harvin’s td run, that ball was in the end zone and I dont care about forward progress. And the 1st down by the falcons in the 4th qtr on their scoring drive, that was not a 1st down and they did not even measure it WTF!

Pretty good job of coming back. I missed the first half but from the announcers I gather the Vikes did nothing. So, to fight back and be so close a couple times to win it right up to 3 minutes left in the game tells me something– a 2-8 team fighting like that against a difficult opponent in a very hard place to win– the coaching is nowhere near as bad as people whine.

Mike B. – Frazier used to be a DB Coach, and he USED to be a Defensive Back in the NFL. With time, people can learn and improve their skills, and move up in the world. The key word to that is TIME. Frazier needs more time to determine if he still has what it takes to learn.

The players have no pride in the Vikings organization. They all act like they just play for a random team. No confidence when they come out like Packers, Ravens, Steelers have. They come out like “we’re gonna win b/c that’s the packer, raven, steeler way.” The mentality of our team is “We’re gonna go out and battle and try to find a way to win;” in the words of our coach Leslie Frazier

  475. By Parody on Nov 27, 2011 | Reply

Last I heard, offensive plays were all called by the offensive coordinator. Frazier gets final say over whether to go for it on 4th-down, and other situational moves, but he trusts the man with experience running an offense to make the right decisions.

So, in this instance, you need to question Musgrave. I think his play calling has been very suspect. Often calling for the same play when it succeeded once before, only to see it fail misrably the second time over. Musgrave has failed (twice?) before as an offensive coordinator. He could very well be the weakest link of this coaching staff. If you’re going to question any of them, he should be the one you choose.

We need Dbacks badly. I CANT BELIEVE WE GOT SAPP AGAIN!!! he is so trash. there is a reason we cut him and the dolphins cut him.

Sorry, I meant “shill’….(From Wiki”). shill, plant or stooge is a person who helps a person or organization without disclosing that he or she has a close relationship with that person or organization. Shill typically refers to someone who purposely gives onlookers the impression that he or she is an enthusiastic independent customer of a seller (or marketer of ideas) that he or she is secretly working for. The person or group that hires the shill is using crowd psychology, to encourage other onlookers or audience members to purchase the goods or services (or accept the ideas being marketed).

@Parody and others Explain to me why should we continue to support Frazier when we see the same results over and over . We have good players and some excellent players making bad plays game after game. This tells me that coaching is a definate issue. The play calling may not be bad, but coaching the plays must be if our players can’t make the play. Coach Frazier said today that the loss was on him. I just don’t see us getting any better with the same output we are getting. If we gutted his coaching staff, would it get better I don’t think so. Frazier is overly loyal to those closest to him. The McNabb situation is the perfect example. Frazier stuck with him too long. Unless something happens I can’t see why we would want Frazier to stay as our head coach. This isn’t something that time will cure.

Well, we better start preparing to get run over by the Tebow train next week. It is so funny to see what is happening in Denver. We should find some players like that.

  538. By CanadianVF on Nov 27, 2011 | Reply

I also guarantee that our defensive coordinator will have no clue as to how to game plan for Tebow. He cannot get ready for normal offenses, this guy will be a nightmare. The only hope we have is that he does not throw that much which is a plus for us because we cannot defend the pass. But they run a lot more than most teams and stopping the run use to be our strength but these days, not so much.

I’d hate to see AP go. (Although I’d cheer for him wherever he played) I’m sure we could use the leverage that we’d get by trading him. The reason I’d like to see him go…is for my appreciation for him. A RB has a short career. I want to see him make the most of it. Imagine AP on a team that is solid for the next few years, with an O-Line that creates lanes. He deserves better than MIN can offer his career. His special talent belongs in the history books….with a franchise that can ensure he gets there.

I like CB Banks out of Miss St. I know Arkansas beat Miss St pretty good but in the game, Banks came off the corner on a blitz. He was blocked but shed the block and continued after QB Wilson and hit him. Forced a fumble that was returned. Nice play. He always seems to be around the ball.

Frazier would still be my choice for DC. Musgrave doesn’t show the tactical mind to use the talent we have. Pagac seems like he’d mess up my order at Wendy’s. Ever watch a Pagac presser? Wow. Inspite of our special teams current play level, Priefer seems intellegent, motivated, excited, and focused. I like his attitude and energy level. I’d like to give him another year to work with our special teams unit.

@Mike R. That was a great play by Owens, I totally agree with you.

The thing that drives me up around the bend is our pass defense. I know we need better talent, but I also thinks it is coaching. If we cannot play zone defense well, then why do we play it, espcially in the red zone. The T D pass to Roddy White, he simply ran into the end zone to a space and they threw him the ball, NO ONE COVERING HIM. It was like we just gave it to them. He is an elite reciever, in the red zone would he not be a priority knowing where he is at all times. Our pass defense has been one of the worst in the league for a number of years now, Frazier has been a part of that equation. Will we ever fix this ? If we are going to go down lets play man and if we get beat so be it. I see this over and over and over again. Megatron, Jennings etc..

Mike B. – Have you seen my example of Jim Schwartz? He didn’t do any better than Frazier in his first year.

Leslie may not be willing to admit it to the press, but he is in a rebuilding mode. He started cutting the dead weight early on once the lockout was lifted. Madieu WIlliams, for example, was cut due to lack of production compared to his salary demands. McKinnie was let loose when he reported to camp overweight. Berrian was given a contract reduction, and then eventually cut loose when he still was unable to perform.

Ray Edwards was allowed to leave due to suspect character. Ben Leber and Pat Williams were allowed to leave due to decreased production. Sidney Rice was allowed to walk due to durability concerns. And Jackson was completely ignored due to the fact that he’s Jackson. Looking at each of these players’ production this year, all the decisions appear to be good choices.

Now we need to start finding their replacements. That’s 8 starters that I listed who need to be replaced, granted a few of them never deserved to be starters. It’s still a big order to fill in a single year. There will probably be a couple more players added to that list at the end of this year. Frazier will need to account for all of this, and that’s why he deserves more than one season to show what kind of team he can build. Give it time, and we’ll see if he has what it takes to build a successful team.

Percy, great game today, glad we have your talent, really stepped up with other offensive players unable to go. Really liked what I saw out of Ponder, quick feet, good decisions and seems unflappable. I think that when using Gerhart, best to have him run right at the defense, north, south. Can we get some help for Frazier up in the booth, so we can get better at challenges. I will say it again, our coaching staff is getting exposed. We need to bring in someone with a proven track record to lead the team. * Congratulations to the UNLV Runnin Rebels with their upset win over # 1 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels yesterday.

    @CanadianVF

I agree. We know the lack of talent at these positions, but the plans themselves seem to show no basic strategy. I have never seen so many WIDE open receivers with multiple eligible defensive players. It seems that the secondary hasn’t even been coached on how to play the position.

  552. By CanadianVF on Nov 27, 2011 | Reply

@ Parody, I see your points but you make it sound like they are general managers decisions. I agree with those things that were done. The problem that I have with Frazier is the prepartion of the team each week, the game adjustments, the stupid penaltys, the zone defense etc.

  553. By Twoodsnvikes on Nov 27, 2011 | Reply

@Parody: That has been my view of Frazier so far as well… he has definitely done some good things with personnel as far as getting rid of a lot of the dead weight, and obviously he isn’t going to come right out and say we are in rebuilding mode for the sake of the guys on the team, but he better start playing more of our rookies in the secondary. I’ll give him another year to see if he really knows what he is doing and making progress, I really hope he does something about our coordinators though they really seem lost.

@ Dueyz, they seem so slow to react when a player gets into their zone.

  555. By Dueyz on Nov 27, 2011 | Reply

@CanadianVF My issues with Frazier are slightly different. I believe MIN needs tough love and inspiration right now. Frazier is great at many things…but not those.

@ CanadianVF are you in Vegas?

  557. By Parody on Nov 27, 2011 | Reply

CanadianVF – Part of my point is that it is going to be very difficult for a new coach to prepare a bunch of new starters for the game each week. He hasn’t gotten permanent replacements for many of the positions that were cut, (LT, #1WR, NT, FS), while the players at some of the other positions are still young and coming into their own (QB, WLB). We might have a tackle or safety who will be able to become the starter already, but they need more time to learn the pace of the NFL. Replacements for some of the other older guys may be in the works already too.

  558. By CanadianVF on Nov 27, 2011 | Reply

No, my other favourite team is the Runnin Rebels. I fell in love with their style of play when they lead the nation in scoring many moons ago. Reggie Theus and the gang played basketball like I had never seen it been played and have been a Rebel fan ever since.

  559. By Parody on Nov 27, 2011 | Reply

Twoods – I agree that the coordinators seem lost. Especially on offense. After reading his bio when we brought him aboard, I was most concerned about the addition of Musgrave to run the offense. His history shows that he has been good at coaching QBs, but has been fired more than once from the offensive coordinator position. Now I see why. He doesn’t have the creativity or competitive mindset to call plays on offense. Many players are being misused on offense, and others aren’t being used at all. He needs to change his style so that he can take advantage of all the talent he has to work with, or Frazier needs to find someone else who can.

@CanadianVF Maybe Denver will know that we are terrible at pass defending and this will be the week tebow takes it to the air. Ha Ha. Tebow is an amazing football player.

  561. By CanadianVF on Nov 27, 2011 | Reply

@ Parody, I agree and that is why it is so important that we do a great job of our picks in this upcoming draft. We still have a lot of talent and if our draft is good we turn things around quickly.

  562. By Dueyz on Nov 27, 2011 | Reply

@CanadianVF our secondary does seem slow to react. Being quick and efficient at tackling after a catch is crucial. But… Worse that that, though, are the lack of fundamentals. We don’t watch the QBs eyes, intercept, or swat away. Every guy in the backfield should be coached to treat himself as an eligible receiver. Watch footage of our guys not even facing the QB when catches are made. We have to PLAY THE BALL before we learn to play defense. Tackling comes after you’ve failed to swat away or intercept.

  563. By CanadianVF on Nov 27, 2011 | Reply

@ Geiber, I am a big fan of Tebow, so this week playing the Vikes I am really looking forward to. I just find it so interesting that the cookie cutter, copycat NFL just doesn’t know what to do with him. Especially Fox and Elway. I fully believe that Fox gave in to the pressure to start Tebow thinking he would fall flat on his face and then he could bench him into obscurity never to be seen again. However he keeps winning so they have to keep playing him, it is just so funny. The amazing thing about him is when the game is on the line that is when he rises to the occasion and gets it done.

  564. By CanadianVF on Nov 27, 2011 | Reply

@Dueyz, good points, I agree what I dont understand is that with Fraziers background as a player you would think that would be a strength of our coaching.

  565. By Dueyz on Nov 27, 2011 | Reply

@CanadianVF I agree. I think many of us felt that Frazier’s background as a winning player and DC would produce different results. I certainly did. Hard to say how the defense fell into this bad way under a seemingly sound defensive head coach. I would’ve expected him to help pick a great replacement for himself, and to quickly recognize if that choice was wrong. He seemed to do neither.
