A Few Monday Night Football “Did You Knows?”

Posted by Mike Wobschall on November 14, 2011 – 2:10 pm

It’s a long wait all day until the Vikings and Packers finally kickoff on Monday Night Football. So to help you remain patient, here are a few interesting subplots to tonight’s matchup…

– The Vikings are 17-5 all-time following their bye week, and 4-1 in their last 5 games following a bye week.

– RB Adrian Peterson (6,580) is just 239 yards away from becoming the Vikings all-time leading rusher (Robert Smith – 6,818).

– DE Jared Allen has 12.0 career sacks against the Packers, the most against any opponent in the NFL. Allen recorded a career-high 4.5 sacks against the Packers on 10/5/09, the 2nd-most sacks in a game in team history and a Vikings single-game record versus the Packers.

– Peterson has rushed for 982 career yards against the Packers, the most by a Vikings running back in the history of the series.

– CB Antoine Winfield will be starting his 100th career game as a member of the Vikings.

– Only 4 Vikings RBs have run for 100 yards in a MNF game, while 5 different Vikings QBs have throw for
300+ yards. The Vikings have returned 2 punts for TDs, a kickoff return for a TD, and a blocked FG for a TD on MNF.

AP will be the 4th and 5th tonight. And I’m expecting big things from Jared Allen tonight. Make me proud man! You can help to other linemen. After all, that’s why you get paid!!!!!!!!!!

I really feel that the Vikings are going to win this game. I am not sure what to base it on but just have this feeling. What I do know if we can extend drives for first downs and eat the clock is about the only way you can beat the Pack because Rogers is having a great season anytime he has the ball he makes something happen, GO Vikes give it all you got, just win baby!!!!

Rodgers is having a great season, but hopefully we can knock him off his mark tonight with a few sacks, INT’s, fumbles, and turn them into points! Go Vikes!

I wonder if the Packer’s blog comment section will become more active after they experience their first loss of the season tonight.

The only way we win is to constantly pressure Rodgers……even then, he has been very good under duress……We also need Adrian to have a big game. Also, we cannot give up big 3rd down plays on D or we are in trouble……

Sometimes when an organization gets bigger than Five people it can be incredibly stupid. Bigness is Badness, unless you fight it hard every day.”

One could make a list of about 20 or more silly roster moves the Vikings have made over the last 3 years. I’m not going to do that.

If bloggers like you want to persist in blaming the coaches, and players for the performance on the field, go at it.

    The P R O B L E M IS the administration.

WHY HAVE THE VIKINGS DRAFTED SO FOOLISHLY THE LAST NINE YEARS???

(8 Offensive Linemen selected in the last 9 years, TWO in the last FIVE years)
(and the numbers are not much better for defensive backs)

THE VIKINGS NEED A GENERAL MANAGER NOT 17,291 VICE PRESIDENTS!!!

You must know that if you have an opportunity to play a lot of defense, you will also make a lot of tackles. Hence Robison, JAllen, and Griffen have a shot at the Pro Bowl.

I would rather have our offense make more 1st downs, keep the defense off the field, and win games.

You must know that…as long as you ignore a problem, the more likely it is to get worse. So why do you think that the Vikings will just automatically start spending their money and draft picks on OLs and DBs???

    THEY WON’T CHANGE UNLESS WE DO ! ! !

I honestly thing that if the coaching staff and Co. looked at film from the Giants/Pats and Steelers/PATS, it would help greatly since we’d have to use the same methods to eat the clock up,etc. We can win this,if the correct decisions are done.

    @ Rocksalt

The only way to win is not just to pressure Rogers, but to KEEP THE BALL OUT OF HIS HANDS ALTOGETHER!

THE NO-HUDDLE OFFENSE IS — IN MY OPINION — THE ONLY WAY TO WIN THIS GAME!

PS — MUST USE KYLE RUDOLF MORE! OUR 2 TE’s ARE BETTER THAN NEW ENGLAND’S!

Fred, your schtick is getting old. Talk about the game, not the D A M N draft picks.

    THE NO-HUDDLE KILLS 3 BIRDS W/ 1 STONE:

    1. IT KEEPS ROGERS OFF THE FIELD VIA BALL CONTROL WHILE RACKING UP TIME OF POSESSION.

    2. IT PROTECTS OUR ACHILLES HEEL BY KEEPING OUR DEPLETED D-BACKS OFF THE FIELD & THEREBY CUTTING DOWN ON THEIR EXPOSURE.

    3. IT RAPIDLY DEPLETES A DEFENSE’S SPEED & EXHAUSTS THE D-LINEMEN BY PROHIBITING SUBS.

    @Paul M,

Most of us wouldn’t have a problem with using the no-huddle offense.

We are a running team according to Coach Frazier, so I don’t expect that we’ll see much no-huddle offense (except in the 4th Quarter).

I don’t see why Coach & Musgrave wouldn’t entertain the idea. We definitely have the personel to run it.
