Winfield Among Vikings Inactives For Today’s Game

Posted by Ryan Cardinal on October 30, 2011 – 9:29 am

CB Antoine Winfield (neck) will be inactive for today’s game against the Panthers.  He suffered the injury during the Oct. 2 game in Kansas City and has yet to play in a game since, meaning this will be the fourth game in a row he’s inactive.

Here is the full list of inactives for today’s game: CB Antoine Winfield, RB / KR Lorenzo Booker, LB Xavier Adibi, G Anthony Herrera, OL DeMarcus Love, and DE D’Aundre Reed.

We’ll have the Panthers inatives shortly.

Best Buy Stadium, 3M stadium? Sounds pretty good to me.

    Get better guys.

I assume Booker and Herrera are also injury scratches? Booker was reporterd as having a concussion after last week’s game. I don’t recall what it was that Herrera did that brought him out of the game.

So does this mean that we’ll get to see more of Gerhart this week? I’ve been disappointed with the amount of action he’s seen after the team traded into the 2nd round to get him. 2nd round picks ought to be making strong contributions to the outcomes of every game. If it weren’t for AP, I’d expect him to be gunning for the starting position by now, but it seems as if Booker has been the favorite to play when AP is taking a breather. Not that I’m disappointed with Booker’s performance, but if he is going to be the #2 guy, then Gerhart needs to hit the trading block once it opens up so we can salvage some value from him.

Also, who will be filling in at RG? I recall hearing that Berger, the Center who filled in for Sullivan will start today. Is this accurate, or will we get a chance to see a rookie (Fusco) get some gameday experience?

I also want to know why the team hasn’t brought in someone to fill the hole left by Chris Cook’s suspension! Right now we have a full practice squad, and 52-men on the active roster. We’re hurting most in the DB area. We should have found a CB in free agency by now as a replacement for Cook. There has to be somebody left out there who can perform better than Asher Allen and Cedric Griffin…

@purplerainamn – I like Best Buy Stadium the best, but General Mills might be a bit more interesting. Then we could start nicknaming all our players after their products: AP as our Lucky Charm, Hutch as the Jolly Grewen Giant, Loadholt as the Pillsbury Doughboy, Jared can be Cheerio and Ponder as the Trix Rabbit. Heck, I’d even start calling McNabb Betty Crocker!

It seems like it would be an obvious move for the company to make too, since they endorse so many professional atheletes with the Breakfast of Champions…

Parody I haven’t seen anything on the waiver wires to temp fill the void. A few players being released are coming from the worse passing D teams in the nfl.

I’m not a fan of his but why not Bennie Sapp? Knows the system and the coaches. As purplerainman said, we NEED some depth.

Why did we not pick up Chicago all pro safety Chris Harris after he was cut by the Bears?

I personally like the idea of working with the talent you have. why do we need to get an EX allpro safety, lets develop young players around a system instead of trying to cater your system to older players who are unable to perform at the level they once had, also the only reason you get these guys in is because you are looking for results they are more than likely not able to provide ever again.

LOOOK AT THAT Marcus Sherels, an UNDRAFTED local boy from U of Minnesota, making big contributions. We need to be young because we WILL be good and when you are YOUNG and GOOD you can win the big one

We already missed Harris, he was picked up by Detroit. He definitely could have helped
