Vikings-Packers Set To Renew Rivalry

Posted by Mike Wobschall on October 23, 2011 – 11:51 am

The Vikings and Packers will renew their rivalry today at Mall of America Field, meeting for the 101st time in their series history and for the first time in 2011. While Green Bay enters with a superior record this season, the Vikings-Packers series has been remarkably even. Green Bay (51-48-1) has a slight edge in the series, but the Vikings are 25-24 against Green Bay at home.

Sunday will also mark Leslie Frazier’s first game as head coach against the Packers. Speaking of firsts, the Vikings will start Christian Ponder at QB, marking the rookie’s first NFL start.

At halftime of the game, Chris Doleman will be inducted into the Vikings Ring of Honor. Doleman will be the 19th member of the organization to receive the honor.

Kickoff is slated for 3:15 p.m. CT and you can catch the game on the Vikings Radio Network, where Paul Allen will be on the mic for play-by-play duties, Pete Bercich will be the game analyst and Greg Coleman will report from the sidelines. The game will be televised by FOX, who has assigned their #1 crew for the game. Thom Brennaman will fill in for Joe Buck (World Series) with play-by-play responsibilities, Troy Aikman will be the game analyst, and Pam Oliver will report from the sidelines.

All these years I’ve been sh!tting on the Bengals for hiring all these thugs. Now it turns out that we have had more players arrested, since 2000, than ANY OTHER TEAM IN THE LEAGUE !!! Sometimes I think that these guys are taking the “Viking” thing a bit too far.

Minnesota Vikings Doubtful For Sunday’s Game.
    Pretty good headline, eh?
If I had enough bucks, I’d like to go to a Minneapolis sports bar this afternoon just to revel in watching local fans experiencing great sorrow, terrible suffering and deepest misery.
Late in the game, I might ask some drunken fool if the Vikings were better than their record indicates.
Then, I would stand up and loudly proclaim: “The purple puckerheads are the worst team in the NFL, and I’ll soundly beat the (human excrement) out of the first ‘so-called man’ who disagrees with me!” Upon making that declaration, I would sucker-punch the bouncer, and quickly exit the bar room.
I wonder how the Star-Tribune would write it up in tomorrow’s edition.

Pud, I don’t know about the Star-Tribune, but I bet Wobschall would describe it as….Jared Allen Shutout In 100 Sacks Bid” !!
