Harvin, Winfield Injury Update

Posted by Mike Wobschall on October 14, 2011 – 11:58 am

The week’s final injury report has not been issued yet, so nothing is official, but Vikings Head Coach indicated to reporters after practice on Friday that WR Percy Harvin (ribs) will be listed as questionable and CB Antoine Winfield (neck) will be doubtful.

UPDATE: Winfield is officially listed as doubtful, Harvin is questionable.

“I think he should be ready,” Frazier said of Harvin. “He did limited work today, and we’re optimistic he’ll be ready to go on Sunday.”

Frazier also said that Winfield did some running on the side during practice. Stay tuned for the official injury report to be released early this afternoon. At that point we’ll know the status of Harvin, Winfield and the rest of the Vikings and Bears players who’ve been impacted by injuries this week.

Rub some dirt on it and get back in the game.

Probably hundreds of people have input into the draft. If Spielman, Studwell, or Brzesinski say, “we should pick this great qb,” doesn’t that have impact?

How do you justify the picking of only 8 offensive linemen in the last 9 years?
In addition NONE of those offensive linemen picked are ANY GOOD ! ! !

The Vikings are LOSING more because of the porous offensive line than any other reason.

    Vikings will plan for Peppers?

How? We only have one or two offensive linemen that can play???

  9. By Frederick Jones on Oct 14, 2011 | Reply

Maybe you could play Jared Allen both ways this week???

Vikings will continue their winning streak. I still say the hardest game before the Bye right now is the Carolina game. I expect the Bears and Packers to fall to the Vikings.

    Said by Shawn in September:

“Fred are you suggesting we should all sound like Bill Musgrave and say everyone is doing a good job?”

Shawn also said that Starting with Spielman on down, everyone should feel responsible.

NO, I do not know for sure who is mucking up the draft. However WE should look into it ! ! ! That is how the LIONs got into so much trouble just a few short years ago.

    @Titus,

My knowledgeable college professor… 1 game don’t not never make a streak.

Unless of course you are trying to be funny! lol

This years draft the Vikes need a LT, No. 1 Wr, RG, LG, NT, and Secondary.

  15. By VA Vike Fan on Oct 14, 2011 | Reply

@Rogerthevikefan so basically we need a whole new team! =D

  16. By Rogerthevikefan on Oct 14, 2011 | Reply

LT Matt Kalil or Riley Rieff 1st round, 2nd round Wr Juron Criner or Dwight Jones, 3rd RG Cordy Glenn or Kevin Zietler, 4th round find the best run stuffing DT. Love and DeGeare will be in the mix for the Guard spots. Fusco could beat out Sully with more coaching.

Our D will hang with their O for most of the game. Our O cannot hang with their D…. Facts are facts.

  18. By Rogerthevikefan on Oct 14, 2011 | Reply

Not a whole new team just a reinvented OLine and a big Wr that will be afraid of. Which would take a defender out of the box allowing AP to get into the secondary. If this years draft works out Vikings could compete by the start of next year.

  19. By Rogerthevikefan on Oct 14, 2011 | Reply

With secondary I mean a SS because Mistral Ryamond will be a beast at FS. But with Winfields age, Griffin’s knees, and Ash’s lack of ability the Vikings only have Cook and Sherels with Burton developing if he gets playing time. A NT because he could then eat double teams allowing more pressure from Allen, B-Rob, and K-Will.

  20. By Rogerthevikefan on Oct 14, 2011 | Reply

Will this happen in one draft no but with a better OLine the Vikings could do damage next year. Building a year in year out winner means drafting better. Which means more picks making the team and contributing at a high level.

Fred if your going to use my words use them in context …. the contextof those sentences was … accountability, as in if a guy is not performing then sit him down.

Im not sure why your pulling 1 sentence from a post and possibly trying to change its meaning ….

I think the front office has done a godd job scouting … I think from Spielman down they need to have a spine and bench players who are not performing !!!

    Mike Wobschall,

I agree with you 100% that the fans do not know how the Vikings manage to make their genius decisions for the draft.

Pray tell…how do they pick only 8 OLinemen in 9 years??? Perhaps my knowledge is lacking, don’t they use 5 guys on the Offensive Line?

And then explain to US MORONs how NONE of those linemen are good NFL players?

Percy’s blocking technique was vicious against the Cards,no wonder why his ribs were sore.It seems the secondary is playing better without Winfield, but we need him back for his veteranship and tackling skillz. Cook is getting better each week and should be on the #1 receiver no matter what.He took Larry to the wood shed on Sunday. It sucks but E.J. has lost a step, why not line up with a 5-2-4 by subtracting E.J. and adding Griffen as a down outside linebacker, have Erin play middle and Greenway weakside.Allen and Robison are frickin’ insane.Love should replace Johnson at left tackle and I like Fusco at center,he’s got a mean streak. It’s nice to see the Vikings call up D’imperio and now have A fullback, way to finally fill that position Spielman.

We really need to get the ball to harvin way more, passing that is. He was wide open in the endzone last week and thats pretty scary that mcnabb didnt pass to him. Hopefully if harvin plays tomorrow he will shine and get a recieving play and a td.

@ Dennis, yep or New England. That’s part of the point being made here. We have to be more agressive in this area to keep pace in the league

Harvin is awesome, but I think we should use him as a kickoff returner. I heard that Denver wants to trade Brandon Lloyd, we should offer them a third round or a 2013 second round pick. We lack playmakers! If we had a deep threat we would be awesome! I know some people would disagree, Since we fired Chilly, bring back Randy Moss for a cheap price.

    @tdurfEighty-Eight,

Perhaps Harvin could fill in at center or guard. lol, he might do better than the guys we have in their right now !
