Has anyone thought maybe our secondary problems and our WR problems come from the fact our poor secondary covers our poor WRs in practice ?

Coaches might think Berrian is better than the 258th pa-ss catcher because in practice against sub par DBs he looks better?

Thats right Mike before this game 257 NFL players had more catches than your beloved Berrian …

Michael Jenkins is better than Berrian , do you know how I know ? Because he has gotten open for more targets and has made some tough catches !!!

    My questions are…

Why isn’t AP carrying the ball 30 times per game?
Why doesn’t Berrian get the ball thrown at him 10 times per game?

Are the Vikings insane? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. No changes were made and we’re still losing. Just something to ponder.

As of right now our defense is ranked 20th. Our rush defense is ranked 4th. I know what the problem is , its the same problem weve had for 5 years. Do our coachs?

I just watched the first couple minutes of the McNabb presser–does he dress differently for away games? The casual look? I noticed the last home game, he had a nice suit on. My question: who is Donovan McNabb’s tailor?

Hey Mike , At what point do you think the vikings see what they have in Ponder? There is a possibility that the vikings will end up with 1st pick in the 2012 draft. If so they almost have to take Andrew Luck.I say get Ponder some playing time and game experiance in order to help them in their decision making process for next year.Lets face it they are going nowhere this year so Mcnabb needs to ride the pine asap.Troy from Frederick, Maryland.

Penalities and poor 3rd down production continue to haunt this team. Why is that so hard to correct?
Devin Aromashodu looks like a legit deep threat. Any chance the Vikings increase his role in our offense?

Okay, LISTEN, all idiots running this team. Please put Ponder in and start developing him to become our QB. It is evident that McNabb is not going to take this team to the promise land. Please start rebuilding this team NOW. Please start developing all our young players so MAYBE in the future we can once again enjoy watching our beloved Vikings play football. McNabb should be working with Ponder and Webb since it is evident his best days are indeed behind him….

@Jeff the team is loaded with reliable good handed wide receivers. In my opinion they dont’ have an outstanding down the field receiver that causes fear in other teams. I am not answering for Wobby but is a fact from the 4 games.

Are you going to start Ponder? Since the season is almost lost, would it not make sense to start Ponder? After all, the last team that made the playoffs at 0-4 was during the 1992 season. I believe it was the Chargers.

Since there is still a little bit of hope (not much, but a little), would it not make sense to put Ponder in to see if he can ignite a spark?

Hey Mike, if the Vikes playoff chances are really shot, how about they open up the roster and see what they have? How about they sign some players off the practice squad and give them a shot? We might be pleasantly surprised.

This team, in my opinion, has never recovered from the loss in the NFC Championship Game in New Orleans. They haven’t been the same since that game. It may sound strange to some but I firmly believe it. Even though many of the players that day are no longer here I believe the ones that are still think about that game and how close they were to the big prize. Your thoughts on this would be interesting…

Please someone in the Vikings organization take responsibility for losing. This is the first step. If everyone says “it’s not me”, how will changes/improvements be made? I’m tired of Frazier saying we just need to execute. No sh@t. That’s all we need to do. Hey I can be a coach. We just need to play better than our opponents and outscore them. Frazier your 3-7 as a head coach. Wake up! YOU need to execute.

Dump berrian, trade gerhardt to San fran (for 2nd rounder) bring in king from practice squad, use webb as a wide out, start ponder, find a good blocking fullback and run the ball all day with AP and King

Mike W: Why is it that coach Frazier is keeping McNabb in the game or starting QB if he keeps making mistakes over and over again? How come during McNabb’s post-game interview he shows basicly no emotion at all, for example: When he is up there he seems like he just DOES NOT CARE about this team and if they win or lose (body language)? Do you think now they will start to put Ponder in to see what he’s got, if not why? If the Vikings continue to do terrible then what are the chances that they will get the new stadium approved and continue to stay in MN (where they belong)? From a Vikings fan Bradley from Murrieta, CA

Use our #1 draft pick to get the two best DB.s out there, one from the draft and one through the trade for the pick. or if ponder cant hack it get the moore from Boise State, he is going to be the best young QB next year.

I don’t think Mike Wobschall deserves these personal attacks. He answers many of our questions and in the game chat. His opinion differs from ours and yes I can imagine there is an immense loyality to the Vikings Organization. I don’t see any reason to be rude to him. He has give us fans the ability to vent on issues with the team. I feel he is as direct as he can be and tries to maintain the positives going onto the next game. Because ultimatley the Cheifs game is over and the team needs to get over that and move on.

Why is it that Burton,Raymond,Love and local grad Fusco are inactive? They were today and other times. Are they nursing injuries or are the Vikings keeping these guys fresh for the playoffs? They really can’t do any worse. Thank you for any response!

  41. By mnsoldier on Oct 2, 2011 | Reply

maybe that is the point, to suck so bad the fans wont care if they leave and perhaps that is what wilf wants, to move where he can rob another town of money and demand a new stadium and huge ticket prices

Shawn I love your post, thank you for that insight. Shawn has pointed out that tackles are highly regarded early in the draft, and it’s interesting that almost every one of those tackles selected that high have turned out to be very solid starters. Let’s find a tackle that Peterson can run behind and protect Ponder, NOT MCNABB

  46. By Mike B. on Oct 2, 2011 | Reply

@mnsoldier I don’t think Wilfs have an option on moving the team. There are organizations in LA that want to buy a NFL franchise to move to LA. I think the Wilfs would have to sell the team to these other owners to get the move done. I also think that’s why they are trying so hard to get a stadium deal done in MN. They like owning the team and love the loyal Vikings Fans. The new stadium is truely money in the bank for MN, but unfortunately in this economy no one wants to pay for a stadium. Asking a politician to act instead of react lately is frustrating at best. I think the Wilfs are honest and want a championship in MN, but the issues from last year are still hurting this team.

  47. By Woodboat on Oct 2, 2011 | Reply

Just to cut Berrian a little slack (not that he deserves any), one reason that Jenkins has more catches than Berrian is that Jenkins runs shorter routes. McNabb can’t get the ball anywhere near Berrian the vast majority of the time…. hard to catch a ball when it is sailing 8 yards past you and 3 yards out of bounds.

Take a nap! This team is so boring, they don’t even talk about them on the NFL network! This is one of the worst viking teams that i have seen in 42 years. I think they reflect the coaching staff. For an 0 and 4 start. It’s obvious it is a Qb problem. No matter what anyone says to me “Oh! it’s this it’s that!” lets face it, our qb just can not throw the ball. Don’t care what you say. Can not throw. Or run, or change up the play. Changing up the play is so important. My question to the Viking organization is: Why are you not changing the Qb? why are you not cutting mcnabb right now! Ponder must go in or just forfit the games for a killer pick. yaaaaa! woooweeeeee we got a high pick! might as well go with autopilot for good picks for the rest of the year.

  79. By Mike B. on Oct 2, 2011 | Reply

Camarillo was inactive they have to designate some many players inactive before the game. As I have stated before the vikings have tons of sure handed wide receivers. Carmillo is their extra receiver. We don’t have wideouts that are dangerous threats down field. McNabb seems content to throw intermediate p a sses to 3 WRs and mostly in the middle. Last times he went deep he overthrew Berrian by several yards. Berrian did catch that p a ss inthe middle today that allowed Jenkins TD. P a ssing game is very weak for the team at best right now.

You are 100% right!! Not only has this team not gotten over that game, but the entire organization hasn’t!! They still think there one player away from reaching the Super Bowl!! It’s time to stop this mentality and start building a championship team as Green Bay has done!! That 2009 team played way over there head once Bret Favre came into the picture!! He made everyone that much better!! They are 6-14 since that game!! Losing sucks!! Let’s start playing some of our young guys to see what they can do!! Webb should start!!

We have competed hard and been in every game this season. We are not even close to being the worst team in the league. I believe in the talent on this team and I really want to see them turn it around. I however do not believe in this coaching staff and the schemes etc. that they have devised for this team. Their in game adjustments have not been getting it done and I believe that we have been simply outcoached this season. Since I live in Canada maybe I do not understand the new stadium issue, but all this talk of relocating to LA is just simply ridiculous!

I agree if we are no longer looking at playoffs it makes no sense to start McNabb for the rest of the season. McNabb can mentor from the sidelines now or be cut with his minimum guarenteed salary in hand. The Jags ex starter is looking for a job and could be a good pick up in a back up role if McNabb is too proud.

Why was there so much confusion on one of the plays, I don’t remember exactly which one it was, but players came off, then went back on, then this one came off and then another back on, shank was off, went back in, toby went in and peterson came out, it really was very crazy.

Hey Mike I know you did not like my last question, but here’s another. Do you still beleive that Berrian is a good receiver? (although he did make 1 good catch today) They showed him a couple of times just milling around on the field and if that was running a route that’s sad. As far as not having a downfield threat that everyone keeps saying did anyone see Devin Aromashodu and the catch he made? He should be taking Berrian’s place or Micheal Jenkins at least those two act like they want to play. This Vikings team has got some real issues I am sorry to say this but I hate to admit I’m a fan they act like the Lions of the old days DISGUSTING!!!!

Tyrell Johnson is the defenses version of Bernard Berrian….. Overrated doesn’t say it well enough. Johnson overruns Breaston’s catch on post when he has the position, angle and leverage “downhill” as they say… and he runs himself right out of the tackled – let alnoe a hit that could have separated the ball if he had any colognes….. WHY do they let this guy on the field? Never was anything, but always stays on roster….. Never DOES anything but occupies an important uniform and locker…. This is his 4th year, and I am still waiting for him to make his FIRST big play!

    Ty Johnson, please move on….

It seems to be happening again with Mcnabb, he just doesn’t look right in purple and gold. I am starting to think that all guys are right we need to break the pattern, start new and put in a new quarterback like Ponder who hasn’t played for anyone else. (just grasping at straws at this point)

Farve is a gunslinger and no QB is a gunslinger any more, but if he was willing (never would be) , but that would be great! Gunslingers have many INT’s but so what at least every game would be fun and exciting and you know you would win at least 50% of your games!!!??? Or am i way off?

  169. By Titus on Oct 2, 2011 | Reply

We did lose by what– 19, 20 points TOTAL over 4 games– not like we have been blown away. And in many ways played well each game, a little better and longer each game– today we almost came back and hung in there till the end– KC is not the worst team as some say– they are like us, struggling, but they are a good team.

We manhandled three of our teams for a full half– now I am not saying I don’t see the issues, but we are some tweaking from winning– and a couple wins are what we need— if next week, we are 0-5, I will shut up and drive to the north shore Sunday afternoons to look at the fall colors, and no football.

One other question, why does Frazier try to find the good in the losses? He should go on air and just be like we sucked. Place the blame on the people that deserve it, including himself and then make a then make a challenge on air to the players to pick up their game.
If the players don’t like it, then they should pick it up!!!!

Frazier needs to stop being the good parent, cop, etc and saying good try and just point out the postive. I just have one question. If we keep on losing and keep believing McNabb will take us to the Super bowl or playoff, will our vets stay with us next year? Or will the team stay in Minny? I have been a longtime fan, but REALLY Frazier, whom I like as a coach, you need to start getting ready for next year if you want the fans in Minny to pay the taxes to kept the team in state and to keep your job. Have a feeling either Frazier or Musgrave will be leaving before the season is over if the management staff doesn’t admit we need to start getting ready for next year.
There is no reason why a vet QB should be working on their mechanics, might as well put in a rookie QB at least that’s expect. Come on Musgrave, stick to a game plan if two TE’s set and using Percy works…why change that. You came from Alt were you ran the ball, so why aren’t we doing that with our team?

I will accept as a fan that our season is over, in terms of making it to the Super bowl, so at least as a team you all can accept this to and make the necessary changes to start getting ready for next year. Let’s see what Ponder is made of…

Vikings gotta think smart right now. This season is guaranteed done for the Vikings. There is no way for them to make the playoffs, so it is now a rebuilding year.

What we should consider doing, is TRADING ADRIAN PETERSON so we can at least get some good draft picks for him.

Running backs in this league are important, but they are also overrated. Teams that win games and championships and make the playoffs year after year are good pass offense teams.

There is no point in keeping Adrian Peterson, because the Vikings will not have a reasonable chance of winning the superbowl for at least 3 years. By that time, Adrian Peterson will probably not be as good. Running backs tend to wear down over time. They constantly get hit, and the wear on them tends to slow them down. If we trade Adrain Peterson in his prime, we can really cash in on the draft picks.

Anyone remember the Herschel Walker trade? Its what made the Cowboys good for years. The Vikings should consider a trade like that and see what kind of offers they get.

Think about it, if we trade Adrian Peterson, we will most likely get the number one overall pick in the draft. The overall number one pick in the draft is Andrew Luck, which is according to many people the best rookie prospect ever.

Not only that but if we trade Adrian Peterson, we could get like 2 or 3 first round draft picks and about 2 second round draft picks.

That would give Andrew Luck all the talent he needs around him, and that could make the Vikings great for years upon years.

Why the heck is berrian on the field more than percy how stupid is our coaches? Percy makes something happen every time he touches the ball do our coaches not realize who our play makers are? What is wrong with our DB’s their soft they can’t tackle they don’t even know the basic rules of tackling wrap the ball carrier now you know its bad when winfield starts missing tackles consistently what are doing two hands touch in practice because we have the worst and softest secondary in the league. I’m tired of seeing players like J.Allen, AP, and percy when he gets a chance go be on the field these players are playing hard for losses because the other players never show up. I said it before if se lose go kansas city our season is over and we did I personally won’t be supporting this team no more and I know a lot of other fans who’s saying the same thing. Losing to KC just shows how suck we are because they beat us without any of the main playmakers. Its time for the rebuilding process to start and frazier either needs to speak up or get fired mcnabb needs to go berrian needs to go gerhart needs to go our current secondary excluding abdullah needs to go they all suck the Wilfs better start speaking and not wait till the season is lost like last year fraziers isn’t an aggressive HC he’s to soft and the players take advantage of that and why don’t we let singleterry run our defense pagec sucks its time to clean the house with the players included.

And with the team looking this pathetic this season how do you expect taxpayers to throw more money at this team.

@KLAWZ..Do you think that it’s mainly a matter of Mcnabb not playing consistently, or is his problem a lack of desire. I wish I could have a cup of coffee with coach Shanahan, he obviously caught on to something pretty quick.

i love the vikings but man they frustrate me so much. mike do u think our coaches really have the slightest clue of how to use our play makers??3rd down and 2 hmm we launch it to berrrian “overthrow”. then next week 4th and 1 hmm we give it to a no namer. this week 3rd down an 1 another hmmm. mcnab throws when he can easly run for the first and overthrows shank. our playcalling is the worst ive ever seen. all of us viking fans are feeling the pain.

I think it’s time for the coaching staff and decision makers to quit worrying about saving face with the McNabb decision. He is obviously getting the team nowhere. We need to quit signing has-beens like McNabb, Farve, Cunningham, etc. with the hopes of winning it all in one season. Ridiculous!! We have two awesome quarterbacks waiting in the bench. Use it or loose it. As more players contracts are up, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them leave the sinking Vikings ship and head out to greener pastures. First quarter leads have been buried by poor play calling and decision making in the second halves. We have alot of talent. Use it!

I think with this loss we just shot ourselves in the foot for any chances at all at catching green bay or detroit. When will we start ponder. Time to give him a chance. If this is the way we want to send a message to minnesota to get another stadium set, this will be a loosing cause. The Los angeles area will get there stadium built soon. If they can not prove to the state that we really want to win, We might not get a new stadium built in Minnesota. I have been a viking fan all my life and this is the worst that i can remember. Please get ponder starting and get him involved now so he will be ready for next year. Our vikings are getting older and soon will have to rebuild again…ps…get rid of bernard berrian.

  276. By Ryan on Oct 2, 2011 | Reply

@ Mike, well I knew I’d get blasted by some people for saying trade AP, mainly because he is good right now and he is our only good player.

However, when you say “who would trade their best player for draft picks”, well, the Patriots traded us Moss last year remember? And the trade benifited them, because we got rid of Moss a few games later.

Also, maybe you weren’t around durning the 1980s or 90s, but if you remember the herschel walker trade you would remember how the Cowboys traded their superstar RB to the Vikings for 3 first round draft picks and 3 second round draft picks and a bunch of players in return for Herschel Walker and a few no namers and weak draft picks.

If you can remember the 1990s, after their trade in 1989, the Cowboys went to the playoffs 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, and 1999. Not only that, but they also made it to the NFC Championship in 1992, 1993, 1995, and won the superbowl in 1992, 1993, 1995. One of the reasons people study history is because it tends to repeat itself.

People who know football attribute the Cowboy’s success to their trade that gave Hershel Walker to the vikings.

You see, if the Vikings can get a bunch of good draft picks for AP, then why not trade him.

You know as well as I do that he only is going downhill from where he is at. Everyone knows that RB don’t last as long as other positions because they get worn down from all the hits they take. And if we aren’t a good team, then why don’t we actually try rebuilding instead of repairing with bandaids. McNabb was a bandaid that failed. WE need to rebuild, and that means we could be smart and get rid of talent now and get future talent, or we could keep our superstars and be a medocire team for the next 10 years and a run first team at that.

Its unwise to say “lets not trade him because he has been so good for us”. You gotta think logically about all this, he’s not going to carry us to a superbowl, if he was strong enough to do that, we wouldn’t be sitting 0-4 right now.

He is good, but chances are some of the draft picks we would get for him would pan out. Not only that, but it would put us in good position to get the number one overall draft pick next year.

@ Ryan… If you are taking heat for talking of trading AP, I’ll stand next to you and take some of the fire. I brought it up preseason and people freaked out. I am in full agreement with you. TRADE A PETERSON ASAP!

Don’t get me wrong, 28 is one of my top 5 all-time favorite VIkings, but you have it exactly right. A RB, ANY RB, isn’t enough to carry a team in todays league. The rules governing the defense of QBs and WRs make it a passing league, period.

If we could get multiple high picks for him, I’m all for it.. assuming the picks aren’t wasted by making poor decisions next draft day. We need O-Line help in the worst way. We need DBs desparately. I would trade Peterson for 2 top O-Line prospects and 2 DBs in a heartbeat. We are already going to get a top pick if we stay on this heading (and I have no doubt that we are). If we could get 3 more picks in the first 2 rounds…. trade the man.

Please don’t make any decisions about the viability of our WRs based upon their production this year. The WRs can’t throw the ball to themselves, and McNabb sure can’t deliver it to them. If they were dropping good throws, then you have cause to complain. At this point we really don’t have enough data to form an accurate opinion of our WR corps.

If I was wilf frazier would have been fired today along with musgrave and pagac. Preifer I would keep. If you can’t finish games 4 games in a row and keep repeating the same mistakes its on the coaches and frazier your too soft of a coach you need to go coach womens volleyball, because your voice is not getting to the players.

Get a veteran head coach that has been in the league that knows how to compose an offense. This team never goes after veteran coaches for some reason they always hire some guy that never had head coaching experience. Get a guy that has actually been a head coach for a long time. Musgrave was a qb coach he doesn’t know what the eff he is calling its pathetic, I’m sure paul reubens can dial something more effective. Well not going to vent it is what it is this team deserves to lose playing like a bunch of losers, yeah they always say we have guys in our locker room that will fix it but its getting old this team lacks self discipline and energy to play 4qtrs. Playing a soft cover 2 zone the whole game corners can’t cover for squat. Offense is very vanilla almost high school level its just sad to see musgrave dial up his plays why even have a offensive coordinator any 5 year old can dial up those plays.

    Question -

Which team gets their first win this season soonest?

    A) Dolphins
    B) Colts
    C) Vikings
    D) Rams

Which team gets Andrew Luck? (Gotta be the fins, right?)

I don’t think the vikings are bad enough to get a top draft pick… If they do so they should trade it back for additional picks => Great year to pick a good Quarterback like Luck or Barkley or Moor ( Colts, Phins, Broncos(?), ….).

Hey Mike, obviously there is no receiver threat this year to stretch the field, berrian has been shut down to this point and percy harvin can only do so much. We need a stud receiver again like sidney. could you see us drafting justin blackmon or alshon jeffery with our first pick this year assuming we are in the top 10?

Why is Frazer the only one who thinks we do not have to rebuild in the last 20 games we are 6 wins 14 looses. This year is all but mathamaticaly done. If Ponder the most pro ready quarterback in the draft isn’t ready(even though 3 rookies are starting and look good) then start Webb all you talk about is how talented he is but he stands on the side line. Start Ponder at quarterback and get Webb going as a reciever. Start the 2 rokies and Brown on the O line, The 3 secondary guys with cook and larry dean and Emerson at linebacker. Ziggy is the owner and must insist they start Webb or Ponder because Leslie is friends with McBad and won’t tell him. Wow Leslie thinks they don’t need any changes. makes you say mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

All i can say is how do the vikings expect win when they are the worst team on 3rd downs and 2nd worst in penalties? It seems that nothing is being done to address this and as a fan it’s extremely hard to accept. Why is peterson not being handed the ball on 3rd and short and why is harvin spending so much time on the sideline in favor of Barrian. Also where is Camerillo? And why can the vikings fire McKinney for being out of shape and yet Loadholt is still there even though he is flagged at least 1 time per game for holding? All I can say is that i’m extremely dissapointed with this season I certainly expected things to change for the better once Childress was removed and instead it looks to have become worse.

ok first i want to say that evryone needs to stop blamin mcnabb for all he problems. the problems r coming from the o line, they havnt been able to keep mcnabb protected or open up holes for peterson. and the defense…. START TACKLING…. remember the thing you learned in pop warner? but my question is… Is the there any hope that the vikings offensive line will be making changes or are we stuck wit watching our team get hit in the backfield 50% of the time. And do u think that the vikings will try including rudolph and aromoshadu more because i liked what i seen from them this past week.

Even Tony Dugee was scratching his head over Coach Frazier’s comments about staying with the present QB. Cut McNabb now, and put Ponder in, if that doesn’t work, keep losing and we get the #1 draft next spring.

Well the o-line is pretty good AP got about 400 yards this year. Next season Vikings should invest in a number 1 WR and new secondary. Vikes don’t have confidence in your team brcause, your are setting yoself up for disapointment. Start by cutting Berrian,Ty Johnson,Asher Allen. Also, Find a better OLB than Erin Henderson. Vikings can find to good corners and move Cook to safety. Don’t get me wrong I like Frazier but he’s just to nice. Need a Belicheck or somebody of that caliber.

As bad as this seems I think some teams did not put in the work during a strike summer that other teams did and the difference shows. I feel bad for the Vikings probably because my favorite team has been in the basement for so long. I always think of the Vikings as a proud team that will make you pay for every win. It looks like they are inching towards a win and the team is falling into place slowly. Football is a cruel sport and between the teams and the fans your players are not getting any relief. Hang in there guys it will get better. If your players can just stay healthy long enough to get a win and move on. Redskin fan.

Ok, I’m not even a fan of Ponder but it is his time. We traded up to get him so put him in. If he is no good we have a chance at Luck in the draft. McNabb could really care less about what’s going on, there is absolutley no emotion in anything that he does. There is obviously more holes in this team than just the QB but it’s a start. Actually the only guy that’s worse than McNabb is Berrian. That dude is weak and never gets open, put in Aromasuduhe(no idea how to spell his name). Our defense isn’t good but thay gave us a chance to win yesterday and we just couldn’t get it done again. I am finally calling the Minnesota Vikings a rebuilding team. P.S. Frazier and Musgrave need to be re-evaluated as well.

I was just wondering how many games lost it will take to put in Ponder. My guess was 4. However managment has to get over them selves and realize McNabb is not it. If we are going to lose, lose it with Ponder at least he get game experience. MCnabb has been done since his Philly days. He had great credentials but he doesnt have the skill set now. Start the Ponder experiment, Please !!!

Is is OK to start playing some young guys that have some speed and excitement now? If McNabb played with the energy he had in that second to last drive, I would be happier watching that effort all day in a loss. Is it just me or does it just look like McNabb is just going through the motions out there? I’m not exactly calling for Ponder, but if we are building for the future, then we need to wake up because McNabb is from the past. Reality Check time – We have a lot of work to do in making this team competitive, its time to start using our young guns and firing all of our bullets!
I was wondering when teams would stop caring about the Vikings throwing the football. It seems it took the first 3 teams we played a half to figure it out, until this week when the vaunted Chiefs started the game saying “We don’t care if you throw, we are going to stop 28″. And they played the run on the way to the Quaterback ALL DAY!

Is Luck able to move around outside the pocket with ease? Cam Newton is currently extending the offensive snap/play time by triple of the seconds that we have in some cases. If Luck is not a Guaranteed GOd of QB’s then we need multiple draft picks

With a 0-4 start, isn’t it time to admit that the McNab acquisition was a terrible move, dump him, and start developing the quarterback of the future? This season is a total loss, already. In a division with 3 tough teams, only one of which you’ve played yet–stick a fork in this season. It’s done. And by the way, when you’re making your coaching change at the end of this season, go after someone who has WON a Super Bowl. Like Cowher or Parcells, somebody like them. Quit this promoting someone from within the ranks. The guys with whom you should have done that…..Dungy and Tomlin, YOU DIDN’T. And they went on to win Super Bowls as coaches of other teams! Somebody in that front office is really stupid!

I have been a viking fan since I was little. Year after year we seem to think that bringing in a veteran QB is the answer and to help build a good QB. It takes time to build a good young QB. The time is now to bring Ponder into the game and let him get experience. This is a perfect time since we have no hope in catching GB. Detroit will faulter soon but have made great improvments. Hint MN establish a good QB like GB and Detroit have done. Also the coaches need to take a stand and sit those players that commit the penalites and don’t seem to care about this team. Our offense sucks and we also need another good reciever and release Berrian. Not sure if he even has 6 catches on the year.

  321. By jay on Oct 3, 2011 | Reply

I am also sick and tired of post game pressers from Leslie saying we have problems and we need to fix them. He has been saying this after every game this year. By the way he is now 0-6 as either a head coach or the interim coach. Maybe we need to think of making a change at the coaching level also. Not sure what others think but I like a little spark in coaches and I certainly don’t see this either on the field or in the post game comments. He kinda reminds me of Childress just sitting there on the sideline showing no signs of anger or making any comments to the players about their lack of play. Hopefully our best player AP doesn’t see where this team is headed and decide to withdraw his contract.

We should put in Ponder and see what he can do. At least he has the ability to make some plays and run with the ball. Utilize Webb as a WR; he can run too. The Packers have the ability to use FIVE(5) WR’s at any given time. We will not be able to even begin to stop them with our secondary as it is right now. We need to bring in some talent from the reserve squad and see what they can do. We have nothing to lose at this point. Yesterdays game was one of the worst ones I have ever seen and I’ve been a fan for 30yrs. Either we start out 20pts. ahead and lose the game or play like yesterday. NO CONSISTENCY AT ALL!

I agree with most of these posts regarding McNabb. I didnt want him last yr. and I didnt want him this yr. He is not a and never will be a fit for this team. His Blah attitude and him not even running (cause he cant?) for that third down just made me boil yesterday. Don’t get me started on Berriam. He CANT play and SHOULDNT play at all . We need some new recruits who WANT to win and play hard all 60mins.of the game. Gerhardt is useless as well. Too heavy for a runningback and looks like Godzilla attempting to run through the streets of Tokyo.

You know, I just got to get it out… I have suffered the defeat in the 80′s against the Redskins at the NFC Championship, I have seen frustration on Cris Carter not going to a SB despite a great carrer, so as Roberth Smith, Doleman, Mc Daniel, Randle… Watched how the Falcons went to a SB that belonged to the viks and it all came down to a missed field goal by the most reliable kicker, seen how the Giants wiped off the Viks in the very 1st quarter in 2000 and then the Saints. Had the #1 defense for years, the greatest pass offense in ’98… many good moments that make me be proud of being a Viking fan to the point that I engraved the logo in my skin for life, I wear proudly a tattoo that will last as long as I’m here with the hope of just once watching them win a SB. All the people that come to this site and take time to write want the same, die hard fans and people that has the Minnesota Vikings as part of their lives, we all suffer we all cheer and we are here for the love of the game, no one sponsors us for dressing in purple or having tattoos or even having a sticker in our cars but then it comes to my mind… Just for a bit of respect can’t the front office pay back by listening to us? We’re no coaches but one thing is for sure, we want the best for our team for FREE for pure love, Going against the flow with Mc Nabb when the season is over makes no sense! Just like bringing Moss for 3 weeks, like letting Sidney Rice go and keeping Berrian. Are going to face the fate Lions fans lived for decades? Are we still breaking record books as the only team to lose 2 digit advantages for 3 weeks in a row, returning a fumble to our own end zone… We had 3 coaches in our staff that turned to be SB winners and let them go. I believe we as fans should be respected and not threatened to lose our team for another city, we don’t deserve to watch them crumble and lose hope, We don’t deserve to watch Peterson run for 80 or 90 yds a game as any average runner or Harvin being thrown to a couple times a game, just feels offensive nothing changes and we Fans don’t deresve that

Mcnabb seems like a nice person, but there is a reason 2 team have released him, poor performance, his days are over. We are the fans, we need some hope, let’s see what Ponder can do. I know coach Fairser you are loyal, but make that decision. We will continue to lose if you keep him !!

  347. By CanadianVF on Oct 3, 2011 | Reply

I just do not think everyone is thinking big picture, you put a rookie quarterback in who has not had the ota’s and mini camps that they usually get in a normal year. You rush him in when he is not ready yet, he loses his confidence and you ruin him just to get a couple of wins possibly so you feel better. Mcnabb was brought in to be the bridge to Ponder. We have been in every game this year and competed hard. We are not even close to being one of the worst teams in the league so forget about drafting Luck and are you absolutely sure he is the next great quarterback? Nothing is for sure. It is way too early to say the season is over. The coaching staff in my opinion has been the problem in our losses. And Ryan you should be ashamed of yourself for suggesting we should trade AP for draft picks, we have the opportunity every Sunday to watch greatness, he is a very special player and we can thank the good Lord that he is a Viking!

This coaching staff have handcuff McNabb and hamper this team ability to win games. What I have notice is this team’s defense isn’t strong enough for their offense to be a pound and gound offense. What the coach staff need to do is increase the passing attack and keep the ball into McNabb hands; note he only has 2 turnovers in 4 games, so he is taking care of the ball. This team pass to run ratio needs to be 60 to 40 for this team to win.

Lezlie’s press was so annoying to watch i wanted to slap him in the face. He kept saying over and over for 15 minutes…we have some things im gonna address to the team….we have somethings to work on, we have some things… lezlie sit down and shut up your 0-4 obviously nobodys listening to you! i can see it now 0-12… lezlie….umm…what changes have you made if any? ” well… we have some things to work on, im gonna address some things to the team… and we’ve made alot of improvement, oh and can i keep my job? oh and can we have a new stadium?” can peyton manning be our coach instead? hahah thats my question or are we going to just pick him up in 8 years or tom brady in 7…were the hand me down team of the league.

Ponder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we need to play him to see if we should go after andrew luck but i like him so i dont think we need to get luck but just start ponder now he better than Donavan.

I would like one of the high def wish-o-vision TVs with the rose colored glare reducing screens that Leslie reviews McNabbs performance on.He stated he improved on accuracy…on my Sony I saw McNabb under throw-over throw-hit D lineman in the hands with poorly sold screens( BACK TO BACK),sail one 5 feet in front of Shank when he could of easily lumbered foward for a 1st down.Loved that 2 foot bouncing ball in front of Barrian. Is Fraziers TV a PHONY?If so…can you purchase them at Worst Buy? Yes…it is a reference to hand picking a guy TWO successful coaches gave up on.Shannohan is 3-0
because he knew McNabb could not suatained drives. To be a great QB you have to make all the throw sets,To be 8-8 you have to make some of the sets,to be 0-4…well, I won’t bore you like McNabbs post game pressers.

    P.S. …saying it isn’t all McNabb’s fault…is a bit like saying ,well it wasn’t all
Denny Green’s fault. They are WHO we THOUGHT THEY WERE! YOU WANT TO CROWN ‘EM…GO AHEAD ‘N CROWN ‘EM!!!

    Redskins 3-1…sorry

Totally agree with Austin…if you’re the HEAD coach of an 0-4 team, bottom of the NFL…don’t be the front man for a new stadium…let other folks in the organization hold out the hat.

Mike – have you observed musgrave’s play calling? I asssume he does it all…Doesen’t frazier have any ideas in the game planning? They throw webb in once or twice in the game without using him. I see improvements in utalizing Harvin but AP hits a wall to often…nice to see shank and rudolph get more action…

Thank you for understanding purplenurple4 lol lezlie is in no situation to be asking for favors..why is he asking about future construction and purchases..with an 0-4 record i’d be more concerned about my job. As for getting andrew luck.. that would be nice, but lets not give up a quarter of the way through an entire football season for ONE guy who could very well be a bust. We picked up Greenway for our first draft pick a couple years ago and he was injured from preseason and hardly played. You cant quit for 1 man thats just dumb, hopefully they get it together for sunday..changes need to be made, ill just say that.. and lezlie maybe you should have someone else motivate them at half because their coming out after halftime with “salvage title” written across their chest.

What are they doing with Webb? One of top three athletes on the team and standing on the sidelines. Could be used similar to Harvin only with a passing threat on rollouts.

@vikwillwin………….agree with ya there……….absolutely and fully done with picking up old ass QB’s that obviously wore out their welcome and their ability to place else where! Why oh why do the vikes do this ALL THE TIME……..ahhhhhh!!!

The argument you always see “well can you coach them better” ah yeah probably could watch the tape of the game the next day, there is a start!………..its obvious, prob anyone on this d#mn forum could do a better job!

I think we all get so mad cause its so easy to see many of the Vikings flaws….easy!

I wish they would give Webb a shot as well as Ponder. All that talent in Webb and Ponder and they just stand on the sideline. We get to watch a quarterback whos skills have deminished greatly. No more old quarterback start the youth movment now with many of the young player. Then have a good draft and we will have a good team next yesr or the year after. Also I think they will loose fan support if McBad keeps playing quarterback. We would much rather loose with Ponder or Webb and let them develope and we do have a better chance to winn with them. with are O line not so good to be able to roll out of the poket would be so much more effective than with McBad.

We have 2 young quarter backs for many years but we stick with a old over the hill McBad. Start the future now while AD, Harin, Kyle, Greenway, Allen and Toby are still young and let the team grow together. 0-4 let get going now for next year with many young player.

Any decent QB in the League especially a 13 yr veteran (I said decent not good or great) should look like Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers in our offense as many weapons as we have at his disposal. Just some people are not smart enough to see it. McNabb has had acurracy issues and consistent issues all thru his career

  379. By wes on Oct 6, 2011 | Reply

Oh and BTW I think that we should be starting Webb not Ponder Webb is much more mobile and that will keep us in alot of games. Even though some say he has accuracy issues as well he has the right he is pretty much a rookie himself as he has seen very little playing time but has a great upside with his speed
