Why not Manny A? He’s better than Camarillo. I don’t think anyone would disagree with me on that. I have nothing against the guy but he gives us nothing but possesion catches. Manny can do that AND more.

Do you have any packages in the offense for Joe Webb will he be used like a kordell steward or randle el was used for the Steelers were web could possible make a mismatch at slot receiver or even put in the backfield for a running play as well as having few passing plays due to his natural athletic ability

  3. By Bradley Kraemer on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

Why can’t our offense open up and use its talents. Percy could out run a defender and Mcnabb throw a bomb for an easy 6 like the Culpepper, Moss days. Peterson and Harvin also need more looks with sweeps getting them in to open field and showing what they can do.

Is anyone else surprised that the (current) final roster is down to 3 TEs and no FBs? That seems pretty light for a unit that intends to run a lot of two-TE sets. In years past, we’ve had 3-TEs and 1-FB on the roster. Now it looks like everyone in the group will be getting a lot more reps on the field, which equates to higher chances of injuries.

I guess that’s why we signed both FBs to the practice squad.

Here’s a question that I know is burning on the top of everyone’s minds right now:
How close are we to an agreement for a long-term contract with Adrian? Can we expect to learn of a new deal before the beginning of the season?

  6. By CA_Viking_fan on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

Here’s my question, and maybe it may seem odd, but it seems the team has a lot of energy and cohesiveness as a unit and this is actually quite noticeable compared to prior years. Is the coaching staff going out of their way to “change the culture” of the Viking organization to practice and play with more intensity and desire? Keep up the good work. (if my question get’s picked, I would also very much like an autograph from Coach Singletary please)

  7. By jv3rnon on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

Yes what’s the talks about AP new contract? That’s the question everyone wants to know.

  8. By DRS on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

Coach, why is it that the Vikings never get a D-Secondary that can cover the opponent’s receivers? Why a 5 to 10 yard cushion? Why are the defenders unable to get interceptions? Are you doing anything about this? How is the fact that Minnesota will not get the Vikings a new stadium affecting the players and staff?

  9. By Mike on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

what do you have planed this season??? where do you see you and the team at the end?? and is there anyway i could get stuff signed by the team?????

    HERE’S A QUESTION ON EVERYONE’S MIND:

Why are the most pressing and popular questions not addressed?

  11. By Rocksalt on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

    Coach Frazier-
What is your opinion about the fact that Brad Childress’s name is still on the team’s website?

  12. By Titus on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

    GOOD ONE ROCKSALT!

  13. By sandiamond on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

Rock there is no way to remove that without the tags working properly. Childress 328 topics Frazier 163. It will move to small print years out with no more Childress articles being written.

Was there any thought given to bringing in Ahmad Black from Tampa Bay when they cut him? I know he’s dealing with a high ankle sprain but it seems like he would be a prime candidate to poach from their practice squad. He was an overachiever in Florida and we sure could use a player who has a high ceiling at safety. Tyrell might be better than him at this moment but Tyrell seems to have hit his ceiling and it was much lower than most would have hoped for.

  15. By Titus on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

There are ways Sandiamond–For example, they can have the tags invisible. Don’t let the powers control your thinking.

  16. By sandiamond on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

Is that fair ? if you hide one then all former players should be hidden. They need a time frame to remove the counter. benny sapp last tag aug26, 2010 for example

    A. Black is on the PS. not one snap in preseason but the bucs are high on him

  17. By Titus on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

I did not suggest to hide one, Sandi– do not assume. I was suggesting to hide all tags– many sites already do that.

    @ Parody

Yes, I think there will be little bench warming… Shiank has been out. Kleinsasser should be getting more rest in his senior years. They cut a promising TE for a cast off LB. I hope they know why the other guy was cut. I think Rudolph is going to see tons of time. I even sjbmitted he could be a ROY before training camp, as the Vikings seem to find them so often.

I think they plan to re-arrange the roster by picking up people as injuries happen.

    Question for coach…..
If you could ….would you reverse the new kick-off rule?….also who do you see as the next Viking Star?

  20. By Viking Joe on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

Will Kleinsasser be used at times as a fullback?

  21. By Carl K on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

    Coach Frazier,
    Good luck against the Chargers!
The Vikings have 3 WRs with NFL experience returning punts (Camarillo, Berrian and Jenkins). Camarillo is sure handed and was among the top 5 in punt return yards in the NFL last year. With the Vikings being deep at the punt return position, will Marcus Sherels get much of a chance to return a punt against the Chargers? Marcus ran a 4.38 forty at his pro day. He seems like he is lighting in a “mini” bottle. Do you think Sherels has that big play take-it-to-the-house type of ability as a returner?

    Coach Frazier,

How open would you be to resign Donovan Mcnabb for another year if he were to succeed at QB for the Minnesota Vikings 2011-12 season?

    Alfonzo Dennard / CB / Nebraska / Sr / 5-10 / 205 / 4.49
    Matt Kalil / OT / Southern California / rJr / 6-6 / 295 / 5.05
    Jonathan Martin / OT / Stanford / rJr / 6-6 / 305 / 5.29
    Ray Ray Armstrong / SS / Miami (Fla.) / Jr / 6-4 / 216 / 4.54

Coach, why was the move made for Adibi and Riesner put on practice squad? From my understanding I thought that he made the team by great play during training camp and that there is no FB on the roster besides Kliensasser who use to play the position once before! Thanks!

  26. By daniel on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

With all the debate at saftey, why was winfield not even tried in the possition this preseason? Chavos eventually was moved there and had success. He is one of our top paid guys and his leadership, coverage, and run stopping ability would easly translate far better than Ty-johnson or sanford.

    Coach Frazier,

Let me first say that I have been impressed with your command of the franchise. I think the release of McKinney was risky but needed to completely change the mentality of our team. Work ethic usually wins over raw talent in the end anyway.

Here is my question. With your experience on one of the most cohesive teams in NFL history with the 85 Bears, is this Vikings team comparable on team unity or will that take you a few more years of building to get to that standard?

OMG I still can’t believe the Vikings picked my question from last week’s broadcast!!!! Not only that but it was answered by coach Leslie Frazier! I was the person who asked about Joe Webb being part in some wildcat package despite McNabb being the primary starter for our offense. I can’t wait to get my autographed item from Coach Frazier!!! WoOOOOO!!!! Skol Vikings

    Coach,

Most superbowl winning teams have had success due to the entire coaching staff. You and Rick have made changes bringing in Bill Musgrave and promoting Fred Pagac which I see as positives. Bill did a great job in Atlanta last year. As an added bonus you were able to bring one of the leagues best ever Linebackers (Mike Singletary) to your staff. How nice is it to have Mike Singletary on the same sideline with you?

Coach, I live in South Jersey ( Eagle territory ) and I watched Andy put a great product on the field for 12 years. I am a Viking fan since I was 5. I am now 44.

Question: with the recent youth movement, do you think the vikes actually can contend for super bowl this year ? With the core veteran guys on the team and AP ‘s being in his prime in regards to the # of years a nfl rb’s actually last, it seems like it is another 5 year plan taking place ? I am a firm believer if you can run the ball and play defense, you can win in the nfl. The question for you, is our defense good enough. I am concerned about the DBs actual talent ? Please provide insight on concerns ?

  34. By Tim Michaelson on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

why even sign AP back let him go he isnt worth the money he is going to want. Dont forget about all the fumbles that could come back even though he was perfect through last seasons.

Will Joe Webb ever be used as a receiver? Also we he be incorporated in a few wildcat packages.

  36. By vikefan1969 on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

Coach I think folks know that the Texans went to a 3-4 D, and the LB p/u is good depth for a 4-3 D, I am also guessing That often TE’s or the catching kind can be easier to find….but a blocking TE with good hands are not as easy a find…I was wondering will the Staff be looking to ADD another blocking TE to spell JimmyK. and Perhaps one more LB for depth and ST’s
Thanks again Coach. Heres to a safe, and Fun season as always Win or Lose.

    @BleedingPurple

I had to stop reading the blogs when I saw yours, and come down to write my own.

That is an excellent idea to recommend players for the the positions where we seem to need the most help!!!

Keep doing that, especially next spring!!!

  40. By Frederick Jones on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

    @Coach Frazier,

I admire your patience with the team. I’m sure your plan will work out, if not immediately, then long term.

I hope you can play Marcus Sherels a lot. In addition to being a good football player, he is a good guy from a good family. He will help you establish a great Vikings TEAM attitude ! ! !

  41. By Parody on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

I have a feeling that Sherels will be seeing the field only in Dime formations, but that might even be a stretch. I have him penciled in as the #4 CB, but it’s very possible that Asher Allen still has ownership of that spot. Going against a pass happy team like San Diego in the first game is likely to answer that question for us.

  42. By Titus on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

If the Vikings do struggle, which I don’t foresee, but if they do, Coach Frazier will you ban all negative chanting at the dome in order that the team can stay focused on winning? No fire Childress mobs PLEASE!

Maybe hire Fred Jones as assistant o line coach.

OH!!! I was able to post assistant — wow, what happened? Has this site been enlightened? Just as I hit send, I thought, whoa, that won’t go through because it mentions a donkey.

  45. By VikingRad on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

Even though Its early is it possible to move Joe Webb to WR to keep his playmaking abilities on the field, also is it possible that we will draft a receiver in the first or second round of next years draft?

  46. By Mike Farrell on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

    Coach Frazier,

First of all thank you for your positive attitude and class act leadership that you bring to the Minnesota Vikings. As just a fan It seemed like the release of a certain wide receiver last year was a power move by the previous coach in an attempt to “take back the locker room” . Would you ever call Randy Moss back?

  47. By Parody on Sep 6, 2011 | Reply

Titus – I convinced Mike to address that problem a while back, but only marginally. A single donkey was allowed to visit the site from time to time, but if you bring in more than one at a time (i.e. plural donkeys) then your post will be blocked.

  48. By Purple14Fever on Sep 7, 2011 | Reply

@Mike Ferrell: You praise Coach Frazier for creating a class act then you ask for Randy Moss? Whats wrong with that picture?
Best lay off the 6 packs and also stay away from the kool-aid (probably a color of Green n Gold in that drink)…

I’d like to know why Webb is not the #2 qb as he is surely the better one over Ponder…
In retrospect, why did you use #1 pic for Ponder, given Webb is so explosive & productive, and plain exciting to watch?
    :-(

  49. By Mike B. on Sep 7, 2011 | Reply

Fred is back. Although probably not a great victory here Ponder was named #2 QB and Webb #3. It has more to do with using Webb on plays that actual performance. But then again I did say that at the start. So what do you think Fred?

Why not go out there and try to get as many playmakers as we can we let sooooooo many of them go right through our fingers…now lets go out there this year and not hold anything back and go win ourselves a SUPER BOWL. Lets finally bring that Limbardi trophy to MN

  58. By Amish Viking on Sep 7, 2011 | Reply

Why do people think Webb can just jump in and play wide receiver?….he is a great athlete but that does not mean he would be better than the worst starting wide receiver the Vikes have and that is what he would need to be to be worth having him play wide receiver. Percy Harvin is a great athlete let’s make him a QB I am sure he has played one on Madden.

    Coach Frazier,

I really like what you have done to this team and I believe you are a major reason why this team has a chance to succeed. My question is, will the Vikings have a more aggressive defense this year compared to last season. I felt like we didn’t do enough blitzing and I really liked Winfield blitzing from the nickel. I felt that in 2009 the defense was aggressive and that was a major reason why the defense was successful. You have Greenway and EJ Henderson who I believe are good and blitzing the QB. Also, do you think Jared Allen would be able to play outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense? Have you ever considering doing this?
