Is there any way we can get an in depth view of the current salaries? I’d like to see not just how much the players are earning overall, but each player’s individual agreed upon salaries for the year.

Can you tell us why all the blogs are recorded in Mountain Time?

Posted by Mike Wobschall on August 5, 2011 – 8:45 am

This didn’t show up until at least 9:45 am Central. Why can’t it advertise postings in terms of Central Time? The last I checked, all of Minnesota was within the boundaries of the Central TIme Zone limits.

Hey Mike, the second training camp highlight video is very choppy. I don’t know if it is just my computer or not, but could you check up on that? Thanks!

    Hi Mike,
Have the Vikings been looking at Joe Webb as a WR in the practices? If so how is he doing.

Mike W, what is the current status of the Vikings defense? Will the Vikings pick up some D-linemen soon? Will the Vikings get someone who can cover other team’s receivers? What is the status of the stadium issue? What are the Vikings going to do for the 2012 season and beyond?

  7. By DRS on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

Mike W, when will the Vikings blog up-date the page with the new team’s roster?

  8. By Titus on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

Mike, will the Vikings take back the division this year?

Mike W, what is your prediction on the Vikings 2011 seasons record?

  10. By Russ on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

Mike, Is McNabb thinking about moving to the Twin City area or travel from his home to the games?

  11. By joshK on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

what are Berrians restructured contract figures? most people probably dont even know he restructured it.

  12. By Mike Wobschall on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

Too early to predict a record, but I’m confident they’ll win more games than they did last year. Too early to tell much beyond that right now.

  13. By Titus on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

I predict we win 10-12 games, no more, no less.

  14. By Jhonny on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

Mike, what are the terms of McNabb’s new contract with the Vikings? No one in the media really seems to be paying attention to that.

  15. By Titus on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

Mike, thanks for responding to my post. But I do respectfully disagree that it is too early to make a prediction. A prediction should be made early, otherwise, how is it a prediction? Do you make a prediction halfway through the season? Sure, but it is more fun and a better contest when a prediction is made before a clear trajectory is established.

    @Titus,

My prediction is 9-7 or 10-6. Remember the Pack won the super bowl at 10-6.

If we pick up a key player or two, then I would adjust my prediction upwards.

We have some things to prove in several areas: defensive halfbacks, offensive line, and linebacking. Not that these areas are weak, but they have something to prove as far as being Super Bowl caliber.

  17. By Arrow86 on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

@Titus: Were you a C.I.A interrogator! HA! Wobs tried to answer, if he gets into an exact record, then he may have to predict which games his employer should lose. I like seeing your prediction of 10 to 12 wins. Hopefully, this year the Vikes have a winning record within the division, I feel like they’ll beat the Lions and Packers once and sweep the Bears. Donovan always plays well against his hometown team.

  18. By Arrow86 on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

@Wobs: Can you ask Coach Frazier with the league changing rules about practices and contact drills with the C.B.A. Is it harder to evaluate the talent fairly under this agreement?

    Hi Mike
Larry Fitzgerald is in the last year of his contract. Is there anyway the Vikings would offer a trade and draft picks for him being that we need a number one wide receiver? The word out of Arizona is that they would like to make him a contract offer to become the highest paid wide receiver. Would he take that offer or test free agency? If he chooses not to take the offer the cardinals will end up with nothing. Would love to see him in purple and gold.

to mike i have been reading for a while an even though there all fans most of these guys is not football smart to me u guys been playing the draft and free agent perfect but with one missing piece safety i feel with that one addition we our a serious playoff contender i feel if we our looking for older and smart safety to make impact an teach the younger guys it should be Darren sharper and if we looking for a talented safety to make and impact now an for the future Taylor Mays is definitely that guy i know u guys might feel u like the safety we have now but that husian guy is not going to cut it trust me when the season start you guys will regret it just make that move even if 3rd or 4th round picks will have to lose mays is worth it

  23. By mike the great on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

shouldn’t the franchise tag been put on our best player witch is Adrian Peterson and you need to get him signed for a very long time i mean hes the best running back in the history of the NFL.

  26. By GhostRider24 on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

@viking916 the franchise tag only applies to free agents and since AP is in the last year of his contract he can’t be franchised this year, he can next year though.

Hey mike, has Ponder done a good enough job in training camp so far to show the vikings that he may be ready to start on opening day over Mcnabb? In your opinion of course.

  28. By xvike on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

Let me correct myself. Has Ponder done a good enough job in training camp so far to show the vikings that he SHOULD start over Mcnabb opening day?

With the additional 10 guys in camp this year, it gives more rookies a chance to make a “flash” or good impression before the NFL regular seasons starts. The bad news is more players this year than ever before will experience the heart break of getting cut from an NFL roster. I am sure one of the most unenjoyable tasks a coach must do is cut a roster down to the final 53 guys. With the additional guys in camp, what is the cut down schedule this year? How does a player find out he is cut? Are they called into and office by a coach? Do they read it on a posting on a bulletin board? How does all that work? Does Spielman have any say in the 53 man roster?

Mike W – the live feeds from practice are great, but can they move the camera from behind the players who are standing around? It’s a little hard to see what’s going on, but I like the idea.

    Mike-
I understand the need for bringing a player such as Ponder along slowly, but can you tell me why the Vikings have had such a long history of “recycling”old QBs?

    Mike-
Who do you expect to start at safety next abdullah week 1?

  37. By Carl K on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

Next live practice is Saturday not Sunday, sorry I miss typed it earlier… But I would agree with ghoastrider24, today’s practice was alittle hard to see because of all the players in front of the camera.

A better camera vantage point would be sweet. thanks

Mike, you need to lower the resolution on some of your newer interview postings and training camp video highlights… I’ve tried watching at work and at home and you must be rendering in very high definition setting because their jittery and won’t stream smoothly….

  39. By Frederick Jones on Aug 5, 2011 | Reply

    @Rocksalt,

It’s good to hear from you again. I loved the comment on “recycling old QBs.”

The Vikings have done well enough over the years that they haven’t had a lot of opportunities to draft QBs high in the draft.

We are also not very patient with young qbs, at times. The best example of this is Rich Gannon when he was here. Lots of people wanted Gannon to play TE for the Vikings. He went on to several Pro Bowl years with the Raiders.

Did we make the same mistake with Tarvaris Jackson? Time will tell.

Mike, who is #27? im hoping its Lorenzo Booker he was explosive last year. if that is him do you see a role in the offense for him? he is very agile like chester was i think he could be a great screen RB in addittion to returning kicks.

@Mike: We’ve heard how Jared Allen is terrorizing the offensive unit so far. In the first few practices, who has been with the first unit in Pat Williams spot?

Hey Mike, what he chance of you giving us some more updates on how the undrafted free agents are doing in camp? Is there anybody in your mind that might be impressing the coaches enough to earn a roster spot?

@Mike: what are your impression of the new O-line coach Jeff Davidson and do you feel that his coaching style will be able to improve the play of the O-line this season?

  50. By Chi Town Vike on Aug 6, 2011 | Reply

Hey Mike two questions from the recently posted interviews. First the AP interview- in this AP talked about how with the new play book that the Rb position is use in more and different formations, Do we know what any of these “new looks” will be(wildcat with Percy maybe)? And second with big Mike Singletary – in where he states the we have to great LB’s in Henderson and Grenway, but he also said there is a potential “third” great LB. Who was that in reference to? Jasper or the other Henderson?

  51. By Billy on Aug 6, 2011 | Reply

Hey mike i heard that the 49ers safety Taylor mays is up for trades do you possible seeing the vikings bringing him in to compete for the starting role and do you think he has a legit chance on winning the starting role. i know he’s raw talent but if you watch him at USC he was a good safety.

  52. By Vikings! on Aug 8, 2011 | Reply

Hey mike, I was at the practice night and thought that the big receiver 15 did really well, I believe his name was Andre Holmes. He seems to have playmaking ability. What do you think about him on making the team and how he will fit in the system?
