Previewing Practices #3 And #4

Posted by Mike Wobschall on August 3, 2011 – 7:07 am

There’s not a cloud in sight, the wind is calm and the temperature is pleasent in Mankato for Practice #3 and hopefully for Practice #4 at 2011 Verizon Vikings Training Camp. The Vikings will work for 2 hours, 30 minutes this morning in shoulder pads and helmets and then come back out in the afternoon for another 60-minute workout with no pads.

We’ll have updates for you all day long, so be sure to stay tuned to and the official Vikings Twitter feed (@VikingsFootball) for all the information. Also, you can follow me on Twitter (@wobby) and you can listen to me chat with Voice of the Vikings Radio Network Paul Allen when I join him at 9:35 during his daily radio show on AM 1130 KFAN.

Also, Vikings offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave and special teams coordinator Mike Priefer will meet with reporters after practice, so tune in to that on to hear what they have to say about their new team just a couple days into training camp.

Skol_Vikes98 – Madieu Willams was cut July 28th. Willams has been signed by the 49ers for a lot less money. For some reason he didn’t want to restructure his 5.6 mil contract with the Vikings, but yet he takes 850K to compete for playing time with Taylor Mays, Reggie Smith and Dashon Goldson at the safety spots for the 49ers. ???

I like the way Frazier is picking people for his team. He is using a Poker-Face, and keeping cool on what the Vikings are after. He knows what the Vikings need, it’s just a matter of finding the teams who have those areas in excess, and can afford to give us a good guy.

If it’s possible he will find us a good defensive halfback. Remember he played defensive halfback, so he will be able to scout a good one for us.

@Fred – Defensive halfback? I’m not familiar with that term. According to the rest of the post though, I assume you are referring to a safety with certain skill sets. Can you enlighten me as to what those skills are?
Also, can you say definitively that we don’t already have a player on the team with those skills?
