Football has been put on hold this offseason because of a work stoppage, but that hasn’t stopped the Vikings from reaching out to the local community. The next community endeavor for the organization will be the 17th annual Minnesota Vikings Ride For Life Motorcycle Rally, which will be held on Saturday, July 16.
The annual Ride For Life event benefits the Vikings Children’s Fund (VCF) and this year it will begin at the Blue Heron Grill in Hugo, MN. Vikings alumni, Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders and Viktor the Viking will be on hand throughout the day. The alumni scheduled to be on-hand include: Matt Blair, Ted Brown, Joey Browner, Chuck Foreman, Everett Lindsay, Bob Lurtsema and Stu Voigt.
Pre-Registration is available online at vikings.com up until midnight, July 8. Day of registration will open at 9:00 a.m. at the Blue Heron Grill and in Hinckley at 12:30 p.m. The cost to participate is a $15 donation to the VCF. Over $20,000 in prizes including $5,000 in cash, will be awarded.
At 1:00 p.m., all motorcycles will depart on a 50-mile trek to Hinckley’s Outdoor Amphitheater where the prizes will be awarded. All motorcycles are welcome to participate in the Ride for Life. The group will be led by the Minnesota State Patrol.

Since 1978, over $9 million has been raised for the VCF with over $5 million allocated to support research at the University of Minnesota’s Department of Pediatrics.
