The news regarding progress on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement has been good lately. For Minnesota football fans, there’s more good news regarding progress on another important project.
Repairs on the roof of the Metrodome remain on schedule. If all goes according to plan, the stadium will be ready for the Vikings to play all 10 home games (2 preseason, 8 regular season) on Mall of America Field.
Crews have installed 59 of 64 diamond panels and 30 of 32 rectangle panels; 3 of the 10 triangle panels have been installed and recently the final 6 triangle panels arrived on site.
Field lights have been checked and field speaker repairs have been completed as well. Inflation fans are scheduled to be checked next week.
To this point there have been no safety issues reported, which is even more good news.
At this point it’s hard to believe, based on the photos, that NFL games will be played in the Metrodome. But the effort and determination displayed by the working crew to get the project this far this quickly is what will allow the repairs to be made in a timely enough manner to once again make Mall of America Field the home for Vikings football – regardless of rain, sleet, wind or snow.
