Like I have said before, I do not follow the college game much, if at all, so I do not know the players that well.

I just hope the Vikings get serious about drafting some good offensive linemen. It’s not as much fun as finding qbs, rbs, etc., but it is as necessary.

And at this point it has proven to be CRUCIAL, because the Vikings have ignored this area in recent drafts.

Ray Edwards will not except he’s gone no one is bohooing he was not that good. Erin Henderson best move the vikings made keep the two brothers together. Ryan Cook ahhhh… Eric frampton is a good special teams player thats it. Brian Robinson would be a good rotational DE. We need to get Sidney Rice WR.

It’s hard to pick out a good qb. Let’s face it, it’s hard to find good players period.

But certainly you want to shore up the weak areas on your team, every few years. It’s time to build an offensive line for Adrian Peterson.

DO STRONG MEN FROM THE WEIGHT ROOM EVER BECOME NFL STARS?

YES—RANDY WHITE, REPORTEDLY HAD A 450 BENCH IN COLLEGE, HE BECAME AN ALL PRO FOR THE DALLAS COWBOYS.

YES—BARRY SANDERS HAD A LEG PRESS WELL OVER 1000 POUNDS IN COLLEGE, AND INCREDIBLE SQUATS AND DEADLIFTS NUMBERS.

YES— The Bears QB, Jay Cutler, had incredible combine numbers. His vertical leap is unreal. (sorry, I don’t remember what it was, high 30s I think.)

SKOL VIKINGS is getting very hard to say these days! NUFF SAID!

btw EVERY SINGLE GAME since sharper left it seems as though the Vikings secondary (Safeties in Particular) backfield doesn’t even exist! GGRR!!!

I say to all fans just let frazier do his thing and u will see a big change in this team even with the qb’s we have. We have given away 2 superbowl winning coaches and thank God they gave frazier the job.I was a big tj fan but I have more doubts now but we have to let him have a full chance which he hasn’t. I agree get Carson as a backup with webb and we will have a better chance if t-jack fails.

the vikings need to keep Ryan Longwell in MN. man he is one of the best kickers in the NFL. and the vikings dont need Ray Edwards because i think Brian Robison is a better DE then Edwards we also got Everson Griffin. Pat Williams needs to take a hike to we got a couple of young bulls named Letroy Guion and Fred Evens at DT and they were very impressive last season to me anyways.

Lets get Asomugha!!! Vince Young,Brady Quinn,Carson Palmer,& maybe Matt Leinart. No McNabb,Hill,Hasselback,Kolb or Orton. Get rid of T. Jack. Get a young QB and develop him, stick with it for once. If Joe Webb is that young QB that is fine, but stick with him. We still need to to get one of the above QBs. We have got to sign Sydney, he is our #1 reciever. Help in our secondary is a must. We need a hard hitting SS ala Joey Browner. We still have, in my mind, a very talented football team. The clock is ticking.

It’s all good to say we need to go get this guy or go get that guy, but you have to remember that all the corners and safeteys and quarterbacks that have had their names thrown around are going to come with a big price tag. If they were worth the money they are going to want, they would still be on the team that cut them. Also some of them would require the Vikings to trade for them, which costs draft picks, and if a team is willing to trade a player to you then they aren’t worth losing draft picks over.

  33. By PurpleandGoldBlood(NFL account) on Mar 4, 2011 | Reply

this is a long ways. BUT we get sidney back sign nnmadi corners db’s should be set if we draft a safety in the 1st or 2nd round i’m starting to like abdullah and think he deserves another shot lb’s are solid draft mike p outta florida first round? coaches seem to like webb so i’m thinkin if they don’t palmer mcnabb? kolb would require giving up second probably so i don’t think he is a possibility

  34. By PurpleandGoldBlood(NFL account) on Mar 4, 2011 | Reply

i know that’s a lot of $ but they could make it happen if they want to be contenders next year but getting nnamdi is a long shot but they should give it a try

  35. By Rogerthevikefan on Mar 4, 2011 | Reply

Nnmadi Asomuha would be amazing. That would make it easier to move either Cook or Griffin to saftey. Nnmadi is the best corner in the league. Yes better than Revis.

I say do what you caN TO DRAFT A QUARTERBACK. i do not beleive in the “take the best athelete availiable” thing. The only person I would draft before a quarterback would be Pouncey at center. I do not think Webb is the answer. It’s easy to fall in love with a young guy that can run, just like TJ did in his years here but how many times has he run when there was a big gain to be had if he would have had a little patience and could read the defense? And if you bring in a guy, a veteran for a couple years, isn’t that what we’ve done for years? A good QB is what we’ve been missing for years, and time is running short on alot of our talent. Quit with the finnese stuff and let AP run the ball, is that so hard. tURN THE o LINE LOOSE AND LET’S GO!

  40. By Sam on Mar 4, 2011 | Reply

To all those who have said ray edwards is not that good, he is one of the best run stopping DE’s around, and to get around 8 sacks out of him every year is great, especially since he plays the harder of the two de spots. right handed qbs see him coming the whole way so its much tougher to get sacks. all in all, im glad frazier is here because those are some quality players that need to stay.

@Sam – Edwards is on the easier side BECAUSE it’s more visible to the QB. Any team with a right handed QB will put their best blockers on the left (blind) side. I would argue that the bigger obstacle in getting sacks is not catching the QB by surprise, but getting past the blockers. Anyways, Ray has made it pretty clear that he’d rather move on to a new team. That’s fine by me because I’ve thought for 2-years now that Robison is the better option.

  43. By garrett on Mar 4, 2011 | Reply

ya what they should do is have joe webb at qb and get some saftyies and linemen

  44. By Sam on Mar 5, 2011 | Reply

@parody i do agree that they usually have the weaker blockers on the right side, and i also agree that robison is a solid other option. however, i think getting through constant double teams which edwards faced all of last season, is impressive. now he is not the best pass rush DE, but he had more qb hurries than any of our other d-lineman. i think retaining him is of the teams best interest because neither allen or robison can play the run like him. if he leaves its not the end of the world, but i wanted to make sure people were not just writing him off without just cause.

  45. By glenalan67 on Mar 5, 2011 | Reply

at winfields age i think its time for him to move to safety if cook stays healthy he will be a good corner,,Palmer is to big of a payroll hit but Kolb might not be ,,,if rice dont sign i that might change the draft status drastically offensive line has got to be a priority

why arent we going after sideny rice harder? hes obvioulsy one of the best offensive players on the team. and i think that jake locker will be an excellent draft choice that i would be happy about. i hope to god we dont get newton cause hes gonna be a bust. i just hope frazier makes the right choices.

  49. By Carl K on Mar 5, 2011 | Reply

Rice and Edwards have 1st rd tenders. Abdullah and R. Cook have 2nd rd tenders. If we lose all of those guys, we will have 3 – 1st rd picks and 3 – 2nd rd picks. We would be in great shape to move up and draft Andrew Luck next year.

I think we need to draft Julio Jones in the first round this year. Give Joe Webb his shot at QB. If he is the real deal great. If not, we should be position to go after LUCK next year.

  50. By Mike B on Mar 5, 2011 | Reply

Hey Fredrick Noticed that TJack didn’t make the tender list. I was positive he was history for the Vikings after Childress got let go. I hope he finds a good back up position in the league things just didn’t work out here. Sounds like some good QBs coming in the draft so lets go get em. Go Vkings.

  51. By Mike B on Mar 5, 2011 | Reply

I had heard that since cutting ties with Bevell, that Ryan Longwell may be on the outs also. He is an accurate FG kicker, but not so much on KO. The vikings are probably looking for youth at the K spot and not have to pay out so much for a long time Veteran Kicker. The pay of long long time kicker gets pretty high. I think the reason for no transisition tag on S. Rice is that the vikings felt he should have had the surgery earlier in the year last year. Don’t give a bonus where it is not due. Greenway deserved his. Just my two cents.

@PurpleNation- By the way the Vikings pass defense was ranked #10 in the NFL. Winfield has been a pro bowler the last 3 years so he has been playing great. And finally we had a ton of injuries in the secondary this year. When we get Chris Cook and Cedric Griffin back next year it will be better, hopefully. I have to say though we do need help at Safety. Maybe we can draft a replacement.

  53. By dont need on Mar 5, 2011 | Reply

the vikes need. 1 starting qb 2 a number2 wr if they keep rice he can be a great #1. keep harvin in the slot, when his head doesnt hurt. now we need a #2 wr. o line or at least a back that can help block the qb. then get fill in the holes at safty and corner. then start drafting good players with some speed. our team looks like they are running in place at times. its simple when looking for a player they should have talent but if they are not at least 6ft tall with speed dont draft or sign them. (keep looking) if the coach is any good they can help the players learn how to play there spot on the team.

I think we have alot of talent; certainly good enough to challenge anyone. I don’t
like AP running against a stacked defense…AUDIBLE!!!! I like Webb. Palmer if the price is right…no draft picks…No McNabb. Draft one; there should be a good one available. Oline is in need of improvement…Our guys need to improve their routes…too slow;;;passing requires TIMING…Can’t stop a well thrown ball to a good route rummer….I am for Frazier, but discipline needs work. Too many penalties…..Attitude must improve for four full quarters….
Super Bowl is just around the corner….We can be as good as Green Bay..

We should take a gamble on Vince Young. He’s a winner. When Vince Young was a consistant starter for the Titans he’s won alot more games for them then loss. Also he made the Titans a contenter before Jeff Fisher decided to not play him. I believe that he can definitely make the Vikings a contender.

  58. By ghost on Mar 6, 2011 | Reply

I think most of the OL problem was the zone blocking and the coaches? It looks like Frazier saw the same thing and fire that group of coaches – the ol has talent – coaches job is to develope the player. But McKinney is lazy – he should have been a pro bowler since his rookie season but is not – I would trade him.

Sullivan will be ok – 4th year – should be stronger and injury free? RG I would make a backup and start Degrere.

But with AP in backfield don’t know – he scares defenses period.

longwell? was he not just one of our captains last year? hate to see him go anywhere else, unless he retires. we need rice and edwards back but there is a strong possibility niether would re-sign. fingers crossed! maybe get rid of the flat out terrible players who don’t know how to use there pads and tackle rather than dive. diving is exactly how e.j. hendersons femor broke. im talking about our pusy d-backs who are still under contract. williams, cook fuggin mistake, johnson….. and other positions not producing like berrian. last year the wide outs depended on him to step up and we saw nothing. just a thought. i believe he can be a somewhat elite reciever he once was. he just needs to get thrown to! which means o-line please help us out!

  61. By Parody on Mar 6, 2011 | Reply

Shibby, I think you have your facts mixed up a bit. Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7loCkk2uAS8&feature=related

It shows EJ Henderson trying to chase down the ball carrier when his femur got broken. He didn’t dive at all. It was the act of another defender diving that ended up breaking it. That was a freak accident that couldn’t have been foreseen.

I’ll agree that diving to tackle is a poor choice and usually unsuccessful, but it’s a false argument to claim that it is a direct cause of injuries in a full contact sport. Just about everything they do on the field causes injuries at some point, so it would be ignorant to try to control it all.

We need to get Marc Bulger, Carson Palmer, and or Donovan McNabb. We also need to get Randy Moss, and Terrell Owens out of Free Agency. We need to get one other OL man, to replace whats his name. If we can get these guys we will be a good team. GOOOOOOOOOOOO VIKINGS.

    @ DUANE SPRINGER

T-Jack had his chance for three years before we brought Favre in. He was and continues to be an inaccurate quaterback who panics in the pocket. At best he gave us an 8-8 season. Even this year when he started the game against Buffalo he threw more interceptions than touchdowns.

  66. By Adam on Mar 8, 2011 | Reply

the vikings should trade down in the 1st and try to get a pick in the high 20′s and maybe a 3rd rounder with it since we lost ours (thanks Childress) and pick up an offensive lineman to help out our tackles that are too slow for the ends of a 3-4 defense and help hook the ends so Peterson can turn the corners and take some pressure off of our QB. and then in the 2nd round we could try on someone to help out our defense hopefully a safety then we have a 3rd rounder to try to fill any other holes.

I also suggest that we pick up some veteran QB to back up Ponder and help him develop as a QB. also we should try to pick up Reggie Bush. With Bush and Harvin on the field along with Peterson and Rice and Shaincoe. That would be nuts to try to stop.

Plus if we picked up a Safety in the 2nd round. we could drop either Cook or Griffen back to safety as well and then we are already set up for nickle for when we play pass happy teams (Greenbay)

Also with Adam Weber coming out extremely under-rated from Minnesota. He might be fun to have at training camp

He didn’t try to learn from favre. the other QB’s on the team were hounding favre, asking him questions and getting better, while T joke just sat on the bench pouting like a baby. It’s a darn shame we traded Sage. He would have been better as our back up, then T joke. The only reason he was still on the team was because Childress didn’t want to admit that his so called quarterback of the future was nothing more than a huge bust.
