E.J. Henderson Named To First Career Pro Bowl

Posted by Mike Wobschall on January 27, 2011 – 9:41 am

In both 2008 and 2009, Vikings LB E.J. Henderson looked to be in Pro Bowl form until season-ending injuries derailed his chances to earn a 1st-time trip to the all-star game.

But now, following a 2010 season in which he tied for the team lead with 3 INTs and finished 2nd on the team in tackles with 139, Henderson is making the trip to Hawaii for his 1st-ever, and well-deserved, Pro Bowl.

One of the Vikings captains from 2008-2010, Henderson has led the team in tackles 3 times over the last 6 years (2004-125; 2006-142; 2007-155–career high). He missed most of the 2008 season due to injury and was leading the team with 100 tackles
in 2009 before a season-ending injury. Along with his tackles, Henderson has 13.5 sacks for his career, which ranks 4th all-time among Vikings linebackers.

Henderson joins Adrian Peterson and Antoine Winfield as Vikings going to this year’s all-star game. Kevin Williams was also named to the team but will not be able to attend.

Congratulations E.J.!

That’s good for EJ, but I’m still disappointed that Greenway is getting completely ignored. He should have been a selection without injuries and Super Bowls to open a place for him, and yet he still isn’t being acknowledged.

Good for EJ. He deserved it. But why are they ignoring Greenway and Longwell? They are both very well deserving of a pro bowl selection

I disagree on Longwell. He was sparesely used this year. At 81 points this year, he had the fewer points in any other year in his career, with the closest runner-ups being tied with his last year in GB and first year in MN at 90 points. This was also the first year of his entire career that he didn’t make a field goal from the 50+ range. Yes it was the highest percentage of his career, but it was also by far the fewest attempts of his career.

I think that Longwell’s leg strength is diminishing, which is why we tried out a kickoff specialist in pre-season and why he never took a shot from the 50+ range.

Kluwe on the other hand might be deserving, but I am not in the least “in the know” about the success of punters around the league.

i am glad ej got the nod..but i am a bit perplexed. i dont think its fair that greenway got snubbed. he was a better linebacker than henderson this year, in almost every statistical category. Dont get me wrong, i really like henderson, but i just feel bad for greenway. either way i hope we keep chad and we will have a stellar group of lbs for singletary….ooh i got chills.
