Kevin Williams Named To NFC Pro Bowl Squad
Posted by on January 7, 2011 – 11:39 amVikings DT Kevin Williams was named to the NFC Pro Bowl team on Friday, replacing injured Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh. It marks the 5th straight season that Williams was recognized as a Pro Bowler and the 6th time overall in his 8-year career.
Williams started all 16 games for the Vikings during the 2010 season and finished with 49 tackles, 9 tackles-for-loss, 7 passes defended, 1.0 sack and 1 forced fumble. He has totaled 49.5 sacks in his career, the most among DTs in the NFL since he entered the NFL in 2003.
“I look at it as a great honor by your peers and your coaches around the league to be selected to the Pro Bowl,” Williams said. “I really enjoy it and I really appreciate the honor.”
Williams joins RB Adrian Peterson as the 2nd Viking on the NFC Pro Bowl squad.
“It’s great to be with Adrian,” Williams said. “I see him every day and he’s going to give you the same thing. Those guys better watch out. It’s a nice time to converse with all your peers and just catch up with all the guys after a tough season.”

How does Chad Greenway not make the Pro Bowl?

Now if this isn’t a gift…. Do I think Kevin is our most ready and capable Pro Bowl talent? Perhaps, but not this year. Too bad a LBdidn’t go down because Chad Greenway was most deserving from the defense…. Kevin and his 40 tackles and couple sacks???? Not too sure there weren’t more deserving tackles from the NFC. But it is small salve to have another hat in the game. Such a season!

Stats don’t show how dominant Kevin Williams is in the inside. I doubt Jared would have as much success as he’s had the last half of the year if Kevin wasn’t getting doubled every play (and winning). Pats coach Bill Belichick was asked “are you going to double Jared?” He responded, “I think Kevin Williams is the one you double.”

GET OVER YOURSELF, KEVIN. YOU’RE NOT A PRO BOWL SELECTION. YOU’RE A PRO BOWL REPLACEMENT. IT’S NOT THE SAME THING!!!!!

Chad Greenway definitely needs a public relations team to get his image going in the right direction, that being “up” instead of “staticus”; but you can not blame NFL folk for showing up at the Vikings’ door blindfolded given the blindfold-worthy season the team put on the plate for everyone and the nation. That’s just what I think.

I DEFINITELY AGREE WITH THE OTHERS — CHAD GREENWAY IS A PRO BOWLER IN MY BOOK.
TOO BAD THAT PERCY WAS OUT SO MUCH — I STILL THINK HE’S THE TOP SLOT RECEIVER IN THE LEAGUE — JUST IMAGINE WHAT SOMEONE LIKE PEYTON MANNING OR TOM BRADY WOULD DO WITH PERCY HARVIN ON THEIR TEAM!!!

Kevin can actually earn his Pro-bowl bid next year. An okay season for him, but not one of his better efforts.
