J. Allen Ignites Vikings With INT Return

Posted by cjsiewert on January 2, 2011 – 2:04 pm

Vikings DE Jared Allen recorded the first points of the game for the Vikings on a 36-yard INT return midway through the 3rd quarter.

On the play, LB Ben Leber came off the left end forcing Lions QB Shaun Hill to release the ball quickly with Allen coming down with the pick-6. The INT return was Allen’s 1st-career pick-6 and the Vikings 1st INT return for a TD this season.

The Lions lead 13-7 nearing the end of the 3rd quarter.

  39. By Arrow86 on Jan 2, 2011 | Reply

Frederick: You should Youtube Barry Sanders Jr. His son is an unreal runningback and a senior in high school. No O-line makes it difficult to throw deep. 3rd and 2, A.P for the first on the option. Now we just need to look up Johnny “Lamb” Jones and Jarvis Redwine and go full wishbone.

  40. By Arrow86 on Jan 2, 2011 | Reply

Camarillo is returning kicks because Berrian can’t catch a ball anymore, and gets paid too much to get his clock cleaned returning punts. And SHAZAM Camarillo catches a pass.

I don’t see commentary of poor performance by Webb… granted he is young kid, but his inability to read the D and check out – look over your tackle Joe it is very telling, he missed a ton of opportunity to check out for effective readds and he did nothing… Could be Bevel commandment, but I doubt it. Poor reads for Webb today and all are right, our O-line has been bupkiss in run game today… Poor peterson. What a sorry performance for our line – looking forward to off-season little too much I think!

fred jones … there is one constant when our passing game is this bad and its not the OL … NO #1 RECIEVER … WE HAVE LEWIS IN THE GAME TODAY AND NO ONE CAN GET OPEN

WE NEED AT LEAST 2 WR THIS OFFSEASON

VLAD … I HAVE YOUR COMMENTARY ON WEBB …

WE DONT HAVE A #1 RECIEVER IN THE GAME TODAY ….

  46. By vlad19 on Jan 2, 2011 | Reply

Arrow, well said regards to that tortoise, Camarillo and WHY he is even on the field… Berrian is in the lap of luxury and ineptitude – HUGE money to allligaotr arm a big third down pass in 1st Q, and that is the last play he even bothered to make an appearance – Vikes wisely went fast away from the waste of jersey, #87…. On eof Childress’s greatest achievements in free agency…

  47. By Shawn on Jan 2, 2011 | Reply

MAKE NO MISTAKE WR IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS O LINE ….

IF YOU LOOK AT OUR BEST GAMES PASSING … YOU WILL SEE RICE OR MOSS IN THE STARTING LINE UP …. MINUS THE CARDINAL GAME

  48. By vlad19 on Jan 2, 2011 | Reply

never mind that shawn, I am talking about reading the D – they haven’t done much to him and he has not picked up the corner over tackle on about 4-5 occasions – easiest read in football – has led to about -25 in losses… The receiver thing I am with you on. We are what Childress has built in receiving corps – but reading a D is the QB’s sole prerogative to check out – I haven’t seen one effective audble if he had any at all. That is part of the job – BIG part too.

  51. By vlad19 on Jan 2, 2011 | Reply

You are right Shawn regards to the ineffectivness of our passing game in general, and yes Detroit is much better than old Lions, but this is just overall garbage – my criticism isn’t really a pot-shot at Webb, it is a reallity check after the raves of last week. Webb is an athlete, NOT necessarily a QB because those reads were not hard reads. Need those simple reads to play winning football.

THE 1 CONSISTANT WEAKNESS IS WR WE DONT HAVE 3 GOOD WR ON THE FIELD EVERY WEEK

RICE MISSED 9 -10 GAMES … HARVIN MISSED 2-3 … WE DONT HAVE A NUMBER 3 … AND THEN THERES BERRIAN LEWIS AND BASKETT …

SOMEONE HAS TO GET OPEN JOE DIDNT THROW TO COVERED WRS LIKE FAVRE DID

  56. By vlad19 on Jan 2, 2011 | Reply

Agreed re Rice – but we also need to look IMMEDIYELY into free agency – we have watched lot of talent go by by the busloads all the while we were starved of talent at WR… Berrian, Lewis and Baskett alone should be as much resume as our offenisve staff, in particular childress, should ever be allowed to boast – pathetic, not even professional talent, certainly not professional heart!

  57. By Shawn on Jan 2, 2011 | Reply

WELL ON THE BRIGHT SIDE WE PICK B4 DETROIT FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER I THINK …. WE HAVE TO HAVE A BETTER THAN AVERAGE #3 WR BECAUSE RICE AND HARVIN MISS TOO MANY GAMES

Like I said last week, if they get rid of TJ, expect another losing season with experiments. The NY Giant game was a mess up scenerio to make any type of evaluation considering it was a complete beat down. What many forget prior the BF, TJ manage wins against all teams in the North. I’m not advocating that he should start next season, however, I’m just saying dont give up the only QB on the roster that can win, even if it’s a backup role. The game prior to NY, when TJ throw the pick and the next series he went right down the field and score a TD and won the game tells me a lot. Actually, that was probably the best series of offensive play the whole season.

We will be fine– a few key changes and we will win the division next year.

  67. By Titus on Jan 2, 2011 | Reply

I do think it very ironic– all season everyone was calling for Chilly’s head and blaming the coaching. Except for two or three key players, our team is the same as the one that almost went to the Superbowl last year– so everyone believed with Chilly removed, everything would be fine. Now, with Chilly gone, everyone is calling for changes in the players. And calling for the demise of the teams future– next 5 years in the basement. Can anyone make up their mind? Opinions float on the wind of what is seen on any given Sunday or Monday or Tuesday– for that matter last Tuesday everyone saw the next Tarkenton in Webb, today we know there are growing pains. Changes happen on all levels– what you see is not what you get. Next year, like Chicago did this past season, with a few key players brought in and our new coach– we will go far– and I am sticking to my prognostication.

1)Never pay a receiver huge cash what fifteen other receivers in the league
    can do.
    2)
if your special teams suck get a new special teams coach.
3)Hire Dennis Green to pick on Draft day. Tell Leslie Fraser that Dennis will make all the picks and if Bevill or any coach objects show them the door.
    4) Get a semi-open air stadium like Dallas. Play in some cold weather. Look at Bud Grant with his short sleeves on in the fridgid weather a few weeks agoThat guy is my hero!!
    5) DRAFT A QB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
