Adrian Peterson’s 1st-quarter TD from 5 yards out tied the game as the Vikings try to defeat the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field and snap a nasty road losing streak. But the TD also was significant for Peterson because it helped him set some new marks in the Vikings record books.
The TD was Peterson’s 50th career score in 57 games and he now ranks 3rd in team history with 48 rushing TDs. Bill Brown and Chuck Foreman rank in a tie for 1st with 52 and Peterson is in 3rd with 48. Peterson is also tied with Sammy White for 7th in Vikings history with 50 career TDs; Cris Carter, who was announced as a semifinalist for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2011, is 1st in team history with 110 TDs.
Finally, Peterson has now eclipsed the 1,00-yard mark this season and he is tied with Robert Smith for the most 1,000-yard rushing seasons in franchise history with 4.
