Peterson Continues To Make Mark On Vikings Record Books

Posted by Mike Wobschall on November 28, 2010 – 12:44 pm

Adrian Peterson’s 1st-quarter TD from 5 yards out tied the game as the Vikings try to defeat the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field and snap a nasty road losing streak. But the TD also was significant for Peterson because it helped him set some new marks in the Vikings record books.

The TD was Peterson’s 50th career score in 57 games and he now ranks 3rd in team history with 48 rushing TDs. Bill Brown and Chuck Foreman rank in a tie for 1st with 52 and Peterson is in 3rd with 48. Peterson is also tied with Sammy White for 7th in Vikings history with 50 career TDs; Cris Carter, who was announced as a semifinalist for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2011, is 1st in team history with 110 TDs.

Finally, Peterson has now eclipsed the 1,00-yard mark this season and he is tied with Robert Smith for the most 1,000-yard rushing seasons in franchise history with 4.

in college football there are tons of rb with gerhardt ability..he is not athletic and does not look any special..why he was drafted is another speilman mistake…redskins have hardly any offensive talent…if our d line plays like this vs the eagles we better score around 45-50 points if we hope to win

Two words of advice if I may (not to preach, but I have learned this the hard way) — one you can never control anyone but yourself– two– when you hold a grudge, you actually allow that person to continually hurt you– so you keep it alive. Let it go, forgive, and you cut their influence on you. Walk in freedom.

You shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

BS&S I like your sister live in Clear Lake and enjoyed the adjustments the coaches made today. Improved play by the O-Line and D-Line. The Skins really had no running game, so it was a one-dimensional attack. But improved hustle, greater adjustments, a road win, a first win for a new coach. A lot of positives.

On to playing Buffalo who in their last 5 games lost 2 in overtime, won two, and lost by 3 to Pittsburgh. A good home win for the new coach would be great.

  69. By Conner on Nov 28, 2010 | Reply

Special teams really needs to work on filling their lanes. They gave 3 points back to the skins today, and it could have been worse if the 77 yard return wasn’t called back.

I can hear the Favrebashers already-
    1. He was ordinary today.
    2. He purposefully sandbagged his performance to get Chilly fired.
    3. The Redskins weren’t that good anyway.
    4. It wasn’t a blowout like the Cowgirls had in their 1st game under Garrett
    5. TJack or Webb could’ve done better.
I could go on and on. And look for $terger and Co. to show up in the media again.

I think our O-line liked getting in the flow with some running plays early. With the better balance in play selection it was harder to key on run or pass. Plus unfamiliarity with what Gerhart could do.

Nice win with the new head coach. Favre played well with no turnovers. As for you fools commenting about Gerhart, he did really well today and got what we needed done on the ground. With no turnovers and a win against a solid defense I wouldn’t be complaining. As for more action from Harvin he did a good amount today. What we needed is more from Sidney Rice. Bottom line that’s how it is. I don’t know what game all of you were watching but I’d say we need more pass defense against a less-than-stellar Redskins offense.

  94. By VIKEs4lyfe on Nov 28, 2010 | Reply

Hard to believe how little Sidney Rice has done since his return. He’s been underused- I think it’s hard to recover and be super-explosive after Childress’s stupid ass ran the ball way too much. The Vikings I feel will have success with Frazier as head coach. He’s a football- minded person and has real talent as a former player and is currently1-0 . Much remains to be seen. I think the biggest question is do our talented players stay on the team and get resigned for next year and Frazier plus player talent will get us in the playoffs next year. Would be interesting to see what happens this year if we win out.

  95. By Doug on Nov 28, 2010 | Reply

Robert Smith, now that guy could run the ball. AP is awesome too, its just nice to reminisce on the old days!

  96. By Conner on Nov 28, 2010 | Reply

Robert Smith, Chuck Foreman given the defense something and spinning away, Ted Brown on the hook and ladder play against Cleveland, Terry Allen running for daylight. Chuck Muncie and Tony Galbreath during a super lean year. I almost had a little tear come to my eye….

  97. By fred smith on Nov 28, 2010 | Reply

It has been a rebuilding year since we lost to Chicago we should of cut Farve and pat w then and put in Webb as QB why hold on to players that wont be back next year the salary cap savings would help to sign Peterson and other players for the future of the team

We also need to start Webb so we can find out if he can make it in the NFL or we need to draft a new QB
He should get a chance after how good he looked in preseason

  98. By Conner on Nov 28, 2010 | Reply

I didn’t see Webb play in preseason because the Vikings played so many weak teams in pre-season, and he came in against the 2nd, 3rd, and U.F.L. players. I’ve heard great things and I’m hopeful for his future as a pro and as a Viking!

  99. By fred smith on Nov 28, 2010 | Reply

that’s why we need to try him out now instead of risking another loosing season

  100. By Alex on Nov 28, 2010 | Reply

I think Joe Webb is a is a much better QB then TJack. I thought it was the dumbest thing the Vikings did was taking Jackson. We need someone who can throw and run at the same time and Jackson is not the answer to that problem. Find someone who is good.
    GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO VIKINGS.
