I have been a Viking fan since their inception and have lived with the good the bad and the ugly . Todays loss to the Packers was hard to take only because those Vikings that were on that field today have the talent to play and beat the Packers . Its seems that they have lost something this year to quote an old Rocky movie is the only way to explan it THE EYE OF THE TIGER . The Wilfs have a big problem ahead of them . I do believe Chili IS a good coach but he has lost his players and in truth half the time I know what the play is before they run it and Im sure the other team does as well . Something needs to change sooner or later .

It really seems that the players have given up on childress, but firing him really the awnser. Should a change of qb be the awnser. farves gonna retire anyways, throw in T-Jack for the rest of the season.. And with the secondary play like a bunch of confused, unorganized circus clowns, doesnt that make the pass rush look bad, even though their not playing that bad. the vikings have had alot of injuries this season, espeally in the secondary, combined with farve reverting to his old ways, is childress and bev really to blame… Thanks for your time

  8. By animal26 on Nov 21, 2010 | Reply

not only should childress be fired, but just about every coach should be fired and the majority of the team should be cut. The majority of this team showed no effort and gave up. Until I see that they have passion, desire, determination, and the mentality to never give up. These so called vikings are to be called from this day forward the Minnesota VIQUEENS. They have ruined any chance of getting a new stadium in minnesota.

What was the conversation between Favre and the offensive coordinator? And when will they realize that their play calling is horrible?

  11. By Mike J. on Nov 21, 2010 | Reply

What is going on with our team, now we have players arguing with each other it is clear that the coaches aren’t doing their jobs because the players don’t have any respect for them neither something has to happen and it needs to happen now or no stadium will be built because as fans were not getting what we want when a talented team is being coached wrong.

  12. By David Plowman on Nov 21, 2010 | Reply

I have one question that no one is willing to ask the Vikings owners. That question is? When are you going to fire the whole coaching staff and start over?

  13. By Brad on Nov 21, 2010 | Reply

How about some creativity on defense? The 4 man front is not working, no pressure on qb means more pressure on secondary. The fat guys up front can’t catch mobile qb’s and can’t buy a sack. You know why Harvin is successful? Because he’s fast and strong. Our WR can’t outrun anyone.

  14. By Hilary on Nov 21, 2010 | Reply

It seems like we are so limited on the offensive side of things. I know Brett is a veteran but we need a scrambler and he just isn’t capable of doing it anymore. It looked terrible when Edwards and Cook were yelling at eachother on the sideline. Will we ever see Joe Webb as QB, receiver, punt returner, anything?!

  15. By Joe on Nov 21, 2010 | Reply

    1. Fire Childress, ask Farve to retire, cut or traded= save $8 Million.
    2. Promote Frasier to Head Coach, Webb starting QB, be creative on offense.
    3. Play poorly enough to get high draft pick or trade high price DE or DT to obtain high draft pick Stanford QB Luck and another CB.
    4. Praise the Packers…they’ve done a nice job…they have adapted and evolved.

  16. By wipurplehead on Nov 21, 2010 | Reply

Hey Brad, how can you you blitz when you have to send your linebackers to help the weak secondary?

    Joe,

That’s a great idea to cut or trade Favre…maybe he could back up in Tennessee
or would it be too far fetched to let him go back to the Packers and back up
Rodgers? Wow….that would be an incredible story but I think we’ve passed
    the trade deadline

It broke my heart to watch Favre go down in smoke. Is there any chance at all the Vikes can still make the playoffs?
The team just did not click today. Favre wasn’t on fire as he usually is, there was a gloom in the air which overshadowed almost everything they did.
If there is still hope for the team to come out on top, then I am still here. Otherwise, I can’t watch the massacre’s anymore.

  24. By Geo on Nov 21, 2010 | Reply

T-Jack has been a Childress project since he got him. If T-Jack IS good enough, why is Farve here? Why didn’t Chilly do something about Rices hip before traing camp? He watched him all spring and summer. Then why only keep 4 wide-outs? These are head coach decisions. The only Vikes QB on contract for 2011 is Joe Webb. Childress has made very poor decisions this year, poor planning, poorer leadership and i am not sure he is in charge of that team. With constant improvement over the past few years there was no reason not to expect a SB appearance. Childress has taken a Super Bowl caliber team and let it fall apart. Give us Gruden, Cower, Billick, Dungy. All ring wearing head coaches sitting on the sidelines.Time to loose Childress.

    THAT ONE THING
    By William R. Melich

“Gentlemen, you know you have more within you; to get this far in your career you know you have the ability to excel, you are the best of the best, but you must believe it. You’re missing something, something you had last year, call it the magic, enthusiasm, desire, passion, a fire under your ass, whatever; somehow you lost it, and you lost your belief in yourselves. To get it back you must look inside your souls and pull out all the strength in your spirit as individuals.”

“Of course this is a team sport, and it’s inconvenient that the word team has no ‘I’ in it; for you cannot have a team without individuals, just as you cannot have a substance without molecules. The working together part to achieve the same goal is obvious, and every individual must be strong to form a strong team, for just as a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, so too is a team.”

“Ask yourself what is the most important thing in your life? What is that one thing that keeps you going beyond your gasping breath, beyond your pain and fatigue? Everyone has something important to them, what is your most important thing? It might be your son or daughter, your wife, your best friend, your favorite pet, a childhood memory, an idea, a goal, or a lofty dream.”

“You must find that one thing, and play for that. Many of you may already know what that is for you, or think you know, and some of you may have no real idea. To find it, know it, love it and live it, I suggest you write down a list of all the things important to you. Next, narrow it down to five or less choices, and then take away those you could either live without or seem secondary. You might be surprised at your final choice, but then again you may have known it all along; either way you’ll have more confidence from knowing with certainty the primary source of your desire.”

“You’ll find that what drives you goes far beyond football, and it will be the one factor that will enable you to play the game like no one else ever has. As your joy and energy rises, that one thing becomes your most important asset, even bigger than life itself; it is what you live for and are willing to die for. From that you will be more than men; you will play every play like it’s your last play, and win every game like it’s your last game.”

“Hence; as such, tired arms, tired legs, tired body, tired head; these are the things of the past. You celebrate the radiance of life with a boundless spirit in your soul, driving your body forward with the power of a lion and the speed of a cheetah. You feel as though you have enough energy to light the Twin Cities for the next 100 years. Your confidence and courage brings out the best in your teammates, as theirs bring out the best in you. Suddenly the magic is back, which feels natural because it is earned; not as the result of an effort to bring it back, but as the result of an effort enjoyed for its own sake.”

“Whatever your one thing is, keep it to yourself, do not share it with anyone. Think of it as your private inspiration, the source of your identity, the key to unlocking your full potential, your sacred truth, your sanctuary, your savior from the darkest shadows, and your hero in the highest glory.”

    Vikings future is fairly simple;
People are going to ask, “Why did Brett Favre finish his career with such a lousy season?” .. long after the season is done and the records have been put to rest.

  37. By pemnuts on Nov 21, 2010 | Reply

Favre should have just walked away, before the things that happened got out of hand – Give Joe Webb a chance now, to see if keeping him is a asset or not.

  38. By purplerainman on Nov 21, 2010 | Reply

This team is a like a MIME, just going through the motions. These guys don’t want to play for Chilly, and they don’t want to play as a team. It started with Favre’s disrespect for the coach and it tickles down to the last guy on special teams.

It started late last year and simply continued into the season this year. I knew this season was over just watching them in pre-season. All the talent in the world, won’t buy you a TEAM just ask Al Davis (The Raiders GM).

The reason a new coach makes sense NOW is to set expectations going forward and bring in a renewed spirit, and new outlook whether they stay in Minnesota or not. They should do it NOW, rather than wait until the season is over to start fresh. If history tell us anything it should be Leslie (regardless of how things are going now). Every Coordinator we seem to let go – wins a super bowl. Let make a change, let’s do it now. NOW!

This is for Mon. morning questions-why not consider allowing Bevel to run his offense? Why not bench Loadholt and draw from the practice squad? Why not listen to a chanting dome of people screaming Fire Childress? Why not STOP expecting Favre to solve everybody’s careless mistakes in the final minutes of the game???? Why not ask the defense to stop taking a bow for the one sack you make, and work harder applying pressure on EVERY play? Owners: Why not get excited about this? The camera shots of the box looked far too calm. This team is truly talented enough to have PLANTED the Packers today. Why not help them win??? Get moving, look at Dallas and then do something!!!

  45. By PurpleParody on Nov 21, 2010 | Reply

Okay Mike, I’ll start by thanking you for taking the time to answer my question last week. And as it looked like coach Chilli did exactly what you predicted (not change anything this week from previous weeks, expecting the players to start playing harder,) I feel obligated to ask if you still really think that is a recipe for success?

I could ramble on for hours on how flexibility, or the ability to roll with the punches and expect the unexpected is what will give us the best chance to win, while our coach seems to be the most inflexible, one-tracked guy on the field every game. But I’m certain that is painfully obvious to everyone now. So I’ll simply ask this: is there a chance that our coaching will start getting creative, while finding and attacking opponents’ weaknesses? Or are they content now to simply battle for the best player in the draft?

All of you here have no concept of working as a team in the midst and face of fire and trials. Mike my question is where did the vikings get these fans? To me its obvious from the game, people just didn’t give it their all. You can’t blame Brett for the whole season, those receivers, backs offense and defense were in the title game last year. Childress has made some bad decisions, but these guys should not give up on each other, you keep fighting till the end. It is very obvious the character of a team in losing.

    Mike,
You watched the game and saw Brett throw high to Harvin,Gerhart and Shiancoe. The chances for postseason play was lost awhile ago as far as I’m concerned. Chilly is not the problem. The problem was coming so close in last years postseason and not getting to the superbowl. Mentally the team could not recuperate from such a tough setback. Thanks brett for seeing that and I think Chilly saw it too. If the Wilf’s care about the team and the fans you won’t change your head coaches. Keep the team together let Brett start the rest of the seasons games and go into the draft to fill in the weak spots. Thanks for everything Brett. I only wish you would comeback next season if you’re healthy and lead this team in postseason play to Indiana for superbowl XLVI. After this season the players have reached a low that was inevitable from such a disappointing high from the season before. I’m 42 and I know if I was in good shape 42 would be a better year than when I was 41.

With everyone who pictured how this game would go no one predicted a blowout like this. What do you believe was the issue(s) that contributed to the Vikings defeat coaching, player effort, the front 4 D-lineman, Favre? Can any of the issues be fixed for at least a winning season?

  63. By kraze k on Nov 21, 2010 | Reply

Yeah Mike, got one question for you personally. Why do you not answer the true questions that the Viking fans want to hear? You just answer questions that are easy and questions that do not mean anything to the fans. The fans want to know the same questions over and over but do not get any answers from you or anyone. I think you know the questions that us fans want to know but you never answer them. Are you scared to ask the real questions or the tough questions? Sorry to say it but that is called reporting. Not these questions that no body really cares about. Some of those questions that the fans want to know are:
    1) Why is Childress not FIRED?
    2) Why does the offensive line only give Favre about 2 seconds to throw the ball before getting hit? (I don’t blame him for being as frustrated as he is at this point because he is spending more time on his back then standing up because of the O-Line).
    3) If Dallas realized they needed to fire their head coach after about the same imbarassement as the Vikings, why don’t we do the same thing? Look at Dallas they are doing pretty good now. They are on a 2 game winning streak while the Vikings are on a 2 game losing streak(now, which would have been a 4 game losing streak).
    4) Why doesn’t Mr. Wilf listen to the people who really matter (the fans)?
    ETC…………………………………………….
GIVE US THE FANS THE ANSWERS WE REALLY WANT TO HEAR AND KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

chilly has torn this team apart since the offseason. 1. He have up our 1st round pick to our rival who turned out good 2. Instead of drafting colt macoy he drafts a power back when we already have one of the best in the league. 3. He didn’t fix the safety issue and continue to over pay madiu williams who’s terrible. 4. He allowed favre to skip camp then send percy a letter threatening to fine him if he don’t return. 5. He gives favre more money when our best player (adrian peterson) needs a new contract, matter fact all of our big name players is in a contract year offense and defense Chilly put us in a hole that’s hard to climb out.

When is wilf going to realise childress isn’t an offensive genius and never has been? When is favre going to get benched if it were any other Qb playing this horrible (17 interceptions) they would’ve got benched. I’m tired of hearing that he gives us the best chance to win do peoples talk just to talk because were not winning anything with him forget the cardinals game because we shouldn’t have been down to start with, how do we know who gives us the better chance of winning when were accepting one of the persons that makes us lose (the other is childress) you peoples need to stop sugarcoating he’s washed up. Fire childress and bench favre forget about his legacy he’s not more important then the team and i hope someone reads this.

Will they fire Childress when they have to start blacking out the games? I personally know 3 people who have season tickets who didn’t want to go to the game and couldn’t find anyone willing to drive to the Cities from Albert Lea with 2 free tickets. The outcome of this game was not a shocker to anyone who knows anything about football, I’m suprised Green Bay they didn’t put up more points then they did. After Favre threw the interception before the end of the first half everyone started mentally packing their bags for the offseason

Mike get a pair and ask and get the answer to the questions us fans want to know. I mean common the team is starting to fight with each other instead of the opposing team.

  82. By fire childress on Nov 22, 2010 | Reply

how many players will we lose if Chilly sticks around? we already lost a pr bowl center 2 years ago because Matt Birk hated Chilly !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  83. By kraze k on Nov 22, 2010 | Reply

If you can not answer the question right away how about getting the answer to the questions that us fans want to know. That is called Reporting the news and giving people the answers to information that they want to know. If you do not know how about doing this-ASK? I did not think it would be that hard to ask a question to those people from the fans (but would not doubt it if they stop being fans). That just means that people are actually doing their jobs unlike Childress. If Childress was doing his job he would have fixed the Offensive Line by now at any means to help Brett out with protection so then there will not be any more interceptions on his part. So you can not say he is doing his job because he is not because the O-Line still looks the same as the beginning of the year.

I am sure if Chilli sticks around we will lose everyone that is up to leave.

Mike- Has anyone ever told Chilli to put some Mexican Hot Sauce under his A$$ to make him get HOT with getting this Vikings team TOGETHER and FIX THE PROBLEMS they have to possibly start winning games?

look, fire childress is a statement, not a question. i want to know when this organization is going to grab ahold of this team. because they have not done anything. they have sat back and watched this team deteriorate. seriously, look what happened when wilf came in before the cards game, they won. TAKE CONTROL OF THE TEAM AND LET BRAD GO, BECAUSE FRANKLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING NOW IS NOT WORKING. Brad has always sucked at play calling, that wont change. I am sick of the disappointing seasons. i think we as fans should strike the vikings thill they can win. i will not be buying any more game tickets until they can get things figured out inside that organization. rediculous. i hope the next game gets blacked out.

  87. By phyliss on Nov 22, 2010 | Reply

They really need to get rid of Childress and start playing aggressively rather than conservatively; play to win; not just play to not lose. I have not been impressed since the day Childress started. He should never have been hired. Bringing Randy back and then waiving him makes no sense at all; A tiger never changes its stripes. They got rid of him for a reason; did they think he had changed; now, who knows what they will get in the draft; the other thing is, bench Favre and let Jackson get some reps; he can’t be any worse.

  88. By 4eversteve on Nov 22, 2010 | Reply

At this point the Vikings positioning themselves for draft picks, they might as well find out what they have in Joe Webb they already know about T-Jack and Favre won’t be back next year. The team needs to find out which players want to be here next year and to be fair to the next head coach, the Vikings need to fire Childress and have the next guy up whom ever that might be, there is a long list of qualified candidates and they will want to be in on the selection process of which players stay and which ones go. One thing is for sure Zygi hopefully you hire a guy who is more open minded and willing to gamble a little more. This can’t however sacrifice trying to stay with high moral personality guys on the roster, so they can be on the field weekend and week out during the season winning game and get us back to the playoffs where the Vikings belong. So in closing Childress needs to be fired to get the ball rolling, get a head coach who knows how to win Superbowl’s and motivate people by what ever means necessary!

It was heart breaking to watch the Vikings lose the way they did. Listen to us fans Ziggy, fire Chilly and start fresh. We want to keep our Vikings in Minnesota!

The vikings are not the clicking on all cylinders this year as we all can tell. The season is over with just about. The defense is bad, the special teams play is not that special, the offensive line has been terrible, brett has no time to throw. The ofense is all out of wack, the players and the coach are not on the same page, players fighting each other. I believe it is time to start TJ and look to the future. The owner has already wasted millions of dollars on a chance to win a superbowl and it aint working this year. I like BF but it is time for him to help out TJ on the field and see if the vikes can get some respect back.

I have been alway s a vikings fan and that will never change. However I do think that it is time to make some changes very fast this season has gone away and this team has nothing to show for it .. First the head couch needs to be gone pack his bags and get him out of there do not let him couch another game. 2nd get a new coach that wants the job and has heart and is willing to work with the team you can see that the players are not even wanting to play for this head couch right now and its been that way all year if this team wants a new home they need to do something but i do think that it is not all #4 s fault I do think that he should go back to calling his own plays like last year please vikings owner wake wake up and let s get my favorite team back were they belong I miss the real viking s :(

Simple question, what will be done about this embarrassing team? Must the fans be further humiliated for the next six weeks? Have the players ever had a in your face “motivational” speech by the coach someone to kick these guys in the right direction.

For all of you who want Webb to start at QB; the reason he didnt before was because he didint know the pass protections!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But if he has learned them, START HIM… NOT FAVRE

it is time to let brad go. it has been time for a long time. the team has given up on themselfs and eachother they dont feel the org. has there back and are always wondering who is next to get sent away or benched or threatend by brad. it hurts my heart to see brett favre ready to give in. let me repeat that “brett favre give in’ it just doesnt soound right does it ? any of his fans would tell you that they never ever would have thought to hear that in his voice. i could bearly finish watching last night because it hurt my image of him to see him so beat down. but at least this time brad didnt try to put it all on brett again. please im begging you vikings get rid of the poison in the teams blood and pump in some new blood fire brad.

I think Favre has a great chance to prove his Hall of Fame status. Pick up a clipboard stand on the sideline and coach the Rookie Webb and see what he’s got. We have already comitted that we don’t want TJ so why not try out the Rookie. This will also reveal weather any of the O’line or D’line will be back next year. Both lines have not shown up either to protect or to serve a pass rush. It is very hard to swollow that your season is over before Turkey Day. So to start building for next year like Dallas is doing would give us an edge for next year.

  96. By Joe on Nov 22, 2010 | Reply

is the big reason for not fireing brad because of the money? because to me just in ticket sales havnt they already lost that much and they still have games to play at home. other wise i dont get it. if he actualy cared about this team and wanted to see them win i think he would walk away on his own they shouldnt even have to fire him. he is most def the problem the cowboys set the ex. now lets follow it. i have season tickets and i live in Mass. i went to all the games i could last year and this year untill the last few weeks, i cant sit in that seat and listen to our fans boo our team louder then the other teams fans. the last game i went to i saw a fan in the front row spiting and cursing at the team ..he was in vikings gear ..that is just sad and very disrespect full there are still some players leaveing it all out there emagin how it feels for them right now. but untill it changes and the fans rally behind the team again i wont be in that building it makes my stomach turn.

when ur car is broken (vikings), the mechanic (coach) begins to make some diagnostic checks to see whats wrong. the owner (fans) will pay to get it fixed, but it must work. Even an idiot mechanic will replace parts till he gets it running! Eventually the owner needs his car so he will take it to another mechanic… If you cant fix it…. maybe its time to find another mechanic! Replace parts! DO SOMETHING!!!!!!! we come out and play the same D every week with the same results! A BEAT DOWN BY A DIVISION RIVAL IN OUR HOUSE IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!! fIX THE CAR!!!!!

I have loved this team for 35 years. So I guess my question is why? Why would there be a question as to wether to fire Childress? Why is there a question about wether or not Favre should be benched? Why?? Why would you let this team become a punchline Mr.Wilf? Why? Do you hate the state of Minnesota? Do you hate purple? Is this part of some plan to sell off our team? Just…WHY??????

i guess its going to take a 70 point blow out before someone sees the lite .brad childress is a clown or a clowns fool his statement that theres alot of football left this season is a joke and an insult to this team and its FANS . hes had his chances now its time to go .as much as we all like brett he looks old and defeated he should do whats right for this team and sit out

Here’s a new, creative, and unique take. Bench the QB and Fire the Head Coach! Tavaris is here for only one reason. Chilly wanted him and now he won’t play him.Doesn’t make any sense. Before this gets uglier, let’s start fixing it!!

  112. By David Plowman on Nov 22, 2010 | Reply

I have a question. Now that Chilly is gone, when are the joke of reporters leaving?

  113. By Purple in PA. on Nov 22, 2010 | Reply

We have to do something with the O line. They can’t block anybody from getting to the quateback! This was known, and pointed out last year; still no fix??? No QB has a chance with this slow and lazy line. With a good O line; AP would be able to make bigger runs, and the QB would have a chance to look down field not at the sky!

  114. By Purple in PA. on Nov 22, 2010 | Reply

Do we have an offence line?

Thrilled Childress is fired. Now the rest of the players need to all step their game up. And do you think Leslie Frazier will find a spot for Webb in the offense?

Watch this ladies and gentleman our team with play with heart, play tough and
play with pride and Mr. Favre will suddenly start being more accurate and having
fun. And for those of you who think he should sit Frazier already stated that
Favre will play until they are mathematically eliminated. Watch them run off
    3 in a row now.

How soon will the owners be firing Childress? It’s obvious that the team is throwing the games, just like the Cowboys did to get their coach fired, so how long do we have to wait?

One more Loss and you’re gone. Pretty hard to do with you’re schedule. You better start issueing the superman capes to the rest of your team. You’re gonna need a miracle. Start Praying because that’s the only thing that works. As you know ! I’ll be prayiing for you too ! Good Wishes coming your way. Keep the Faith Brother. And i am not even a Viking Fan.
