Chris Cook To Start If Asher Allen Can’t Go

Posted by Mike Wobschall on November 11, 2010 – 3:35 pm

CB Asher Allen is listed on this week’s injury report with a concussion and he hasn’t participated in practice yet this week because of the injury. When asked about Allen, Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress did not give an indication as to whether his 2nd-year CB would be able to play this weekend.

Childress did say, though, that rookie Chris Cook would start in Allen’s place should Allen be unable to suit up. Cook was impressive during offseason workouts and training camp and might have been in line to start if not for an injury late in the preseason. Since that injury, Cook has battled back, been injured again and battled back to the playing field from that injury as well.

If Allen is unable to go, the Vikings will rely on Cook, Lito Sheppard and Frank Walker to pickup the slack at CB opposite starter Antoine Winfield. They would also have the option to call up a CB from the practice squad (Cord Parks and Marcus Sherels).

Really it’s helping no one to keep bashing Coach Childress. He’s in a place of leadership and deserves respect. He isn’t perfect but who is?

Perfection is not required but leadership is. He will never have respect because that is earned. The only thing he has earned is his walking papers. Fire Chilly now!!!

Hopefully when the linebackers and secondary read the play perfect they catch the pick. They’ve dropped some picks that would have prevented points. Start winning the turnover battle.

Layoff Childress: YOu have to remember. Even last year at 12-4 I doubt Childress, or any of the players have time to go on this website and read the blogs. This is a great venue to express our excitement and frustrations. Even with the win Chilly knows everyone with the “Fire CHilly” signs didn’t tear them up on the way out of the dome. They packed them away neatly, so their ready the next time…..

Our secondary has had a lot of injuries to overcome throughout the first half of the season. Despite that, the top-tier quarterback exploit these things. Brady picked us apart. Rodgers had good success. Aside from that, other teams we’ve lost to just executed 1 more play than us, when our offense was out of sync. Even though the 4th quarter was against a team with a losing record, the execution of play after play for both the offense and defense gives me renewed hope. When their were penalties called, we executed on the next play to make up for it. The intensity showed in the players effort. If we hoist a Lombardi trophy in Dallas, no one will even care who the coach is. The odds aren’t great, but anything is still possible. Now you’ll excuse me as I ride a purple unicorn off to sleepy land.

chirs cook is such a scrub.

so many better corners in that draft.

yeah, Chilly tanked the draft. we could of got Mays, but they had to take a unknown. sub-par draft picks for a sub-par coach. now we suffer
