Thursday Injury Report: Favre Practices; Harvin Held Out

Posted by Mike Wobschall on November 4, 2010 – 2:49 pm

Not a lot of change for the Vikings on their Thursday injury report. QB Brett Favre (foot/ankle/chin) was held out of practice on Wednesday but returned to the field on Thursday to practice on a limited basis. WR Percy Harvin (ankle) was held out for the 2nd straight day.

There were no other changes for the Vikings on the Thursday report.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, had 3 changes. DT Alan Branch (back), LB Will Davis (groin) and DE Kenny Iwebema (shoulder) went from limited to full on Thursday.

Please Ziggy have Chill sit out the rest of the season.

The Vikings suck. Go ahead start playing your rookies because this season is over. Favre is only gonna drag your team down and Jackson is gonna need some ramp-up time. This is what you get when a bad coach goes after a has-been QB. How much is that costing your team? Is it worth it? BS!!! Put in the rookies and cut your dead weight! Play your cards right and maybe you will have an experienced team next year!

Accountability: When 53 men are committed to the same cause. When their is a high level of focus, everyone’s talent goes to the next level. We have a high quality of talent. For 2-5 I wouldn’t be hopeful at all, if we didn’t have this much talent. Whether the players have faith in Chiilly really isn’t as important as people think. How many of us are productive in our careers and absolutely despise our boss. The paycheck only means something the first time you notice a bigger number on it. After that, it’s your committment to your profession. These players have to be committed to their profession.

Ive heard the Titans get a compensatory draft pick if they dont resign him. So basically Cilldress gave up 2 draft picks a Hall of Fame calliber player and about 7 points a game for the best interest of the team? I say no. The truth is Moss says what he thinks some people think hes an ass for doing so but at least hes being honest. Chilldress is not a strong enough man to hear truth, or tell the truth, he never gives an honest answer to any question. Like why did you cut Moss? because the answer would make Childress look weak. Moss is my second favorite receiver of all time behind Carter and my heart has been broken twice. 2-5 is not why Im done, Im done because Childress is a Hypocrit. It was not in the best interest of the team to waive him neither short or long term PERIOD.

I think chilly needs to be cut not benched. That idiot gave up a 3rd round pick to get Moss, they could have used him like Rice last year throw a jump ball and have Moss go get it.I thought thats why they picked him up.Chilly didn’t challenge the Packers touchdown catch that cost us the game sure Shiancoe caught his pass and Chilly complained about that but it was too late.We need a new coach hire Frazier before we lose him, unless we can get Cower.2 stupid moves giving Chilly a contract ext. and the Moss ordeal this is going to have repercussions for years.

I have been a fan of the vikings now for just over 40yrs. I am fully on board with the cut chilly crowd. Time for a new coach to try and make this talented team perform as they should. Will be at the game Sunday and ready to chant.

So none of you Vikings fans seem to mind that your QB got carted off the field 3 plays after your lazy hero receiver (Moss) quit on a play? No one notice the ball fell 2 feet from him? I bet Favre noticed.

What a group of crybabies throwing in the towel with 9 games left. Remember the Giants when they beat Moss and the Perfect Patriots a few years back? The Giants were losing just like the Vikes– they were real bad at the start– but they pulled it together, and at 10-6 went through the playoffs to win the Superbowl. Good job Vikes– I still believe– everyone can cut me down, call insults all you want– but when the wins start to come– keep your cheers to yourself– you did not believe in adversity– it is easy to cheer when all is well– it is the mark of a warrrior who consistently battles and it is the mark of a true fan who does not give up– there is plenty to be optimistic about–

Notice we have a Packer fan on here asking us to play our rookies, and give up on this year. He’s smart enough to know that if he can get the Viking fans to quit, it helps the Packers. No more quiting. They probably won’t fire any coaches during the season anyway. So stick with out coaching staff, players, and administration. GO VIKINGS!!!

Yeah this is it, been a vikes fan all my life. Childress is still there Moss is gone. So am i. Go Titans! Wish the players on the vikings get traded off to a team that can actually win the Superbowl. 50 years of loss is enough for me. I would like to actually experience the joy of having a successful team for once but like Moss said the Vikings will never win the Superbowl, got 50 years of experience to reflect the truth of that statement. Not interested in LA Vikings, they may eventually win there but not in Minnesota. The Vikings are over, they are done, and I am done with them. Good luck Vikes fan sorry to see you suffer but you can always choose another team, just do research and find one that can actually win.

However the real fake Viking fans are the ones who post all negative toward the team. If you read prvious posts I made I think we can beat every team left on our schedule and should of won at least 4 or 5 of the ones we lost. The schedule gets easier and if this team can go on a run they will be a very serious threat in the Playoffs as usually the team that deals with adversity and comes out of it grows stronger and has a “us against the world” attitude.

That being said I still think we need to fire childress….he is the worst coach ever…But I guess thats just my opinion.

Saints (Lost by 6) | Dolphins (Lost by 4)(we scored as much for them as they did for themselves) | Detroit (We Won) | Jets (lost by 9 & 7 of them coming from a Favre INT) | Cowboys (We Won) | Green Bay (lost by 4 3INT by Favre) | New England (Our D didnt give our Offense a chance to get back on the field when we brought it within 3 pts with 7+ minutes after a Brett INT got them up by 11)….All those games would of been a W with a change of one play….SO WHAT TEAM HAVE YOU BEEN WATCHING? You know the vikings are purple and gold right, just in case youve been going for the lions and not knowing…AM I WRONG? It comes down to 2-3 plays a game you must make to be a winner. We made the plays last year and simply cannot this year. I believe in the team, not the so-called head coach. We will beat Arizona, Favre will see to that.

TWVIKE: The largest loss the vikings took this year was the patriots….Before that the vikings were 1 score away from winning (minus the Jets)…Not every team can say that…We have made a lot of mistakes and still only lost by 6-4-9-4-10 so we lost 5 games by a total of 33 points. Avg 6.6 points a game 1 TD. Even with all the mistakes we made…Once the mistakes are controlled and we stop giving the game away like we did in the NFCCG we win out…I dont think there is any team better in the NFC than the vikings. There is no team more talented, and there isnt a team with more heart. We just need to start playing with heart like last year. Stop playing scared of making mistakes and believe some calls and plays will go our way. WE WILL DEMOLISH THE CARDS…They are ready to play and they are tired of losing. Next 3 Games are Arizona at home (we win) chicago in chicago (we win) and green bay at hone (we win) that means by november 21st we are 5-5 and have confidence especially once they beat the pack. Than they play the skins (we win) the bills (we win) the giants (hardest game left) the bears (we win) eagles (we win) lions (we win) That makes our schedule 11-5 or 10-6 may even put us in a position to win the NFC north and since no one is running away with the NFC possible home field advantage (I know thats a stretch but how many of us ever thought we would see Moss in MN again….we saw that this year)

  79. By Pete on Nov 4, 2010 | Reply

Chilly is a CONTROL FREAK! He cares more about himself than getting wins for the Vikings. Too bad he lost control and got rid of the SUPER FREAK. He would rather lose every game as long as he gets his way. And last year, we extended his contract to 2014? Are you kidding me.

  80. By BE SANE & SERIOUS on Nov 4, 2010 | Reply

I think the stand up thing to do and what no one would expect– would be to give Childress a standing ovation at the start of the game Sunday– show appreciation– that takes true maturity– despite the mistakes, to say, we still support you and are with you no matter what. That team and coaching staff would respond big time– blowout game over the Arizona birds– I am telling you– it would be awesome PRAISE MOTIVATES, CONDEMNATION KILLS

  81. By 1VikingsFAN on Nov 4, 2010 | Reply

I wouldnt go as far as a standing ovation…His job is one the line he knows it, the staff knows it and us fans know it. A buyout would be chaeper than keeping him for more years. Last year our team no chilly kept us in the games and won the games…NFCCG childress 12 men in the huddle….all we had to do was run the ball and kick a field goal…Instead Favre tried to make something happen and it did we went to OT (just like 98) and lost by a FG. Bad coaching. Than you get MOSS back to MN…A dream come true for most of us Viking fans…give up a 3rd rd….great deal since we got a 1st round when we gave him up the first time (I think…Troy Williamson). Great deal until you have him for 4 weeks and waive him. At least keep him the rest of the year. Who do they double once rice is back? MOSS, RICE, SHANK, HARVIN, AP, FAVRE….That would of been the most insane passing attack weve seen in a while. Oh well…its a loose, loose for the Vikings & Moss. We lose the best deep threat ever and he loses ever having a chance to get his number retired (in my opinion) only team who would of retired Moss jersey would of been the Vikings.

But if you dont feel right BOOOING him (which makes since cause the team may think youre booing them….not good) than I would say do nothing at all. Childress doesnt deserve any respect from Viking fans or the viking owners for all the mistakes he made…Live by the sword, die by the sword….He wants to cut people for making mistakes he should be treated the same way…Once again…just my opinion

Every coach makes plenty of mistakes– you only notice them more when the team either never has a winning season, or consistently wins, but has trouble getting to the final big dance– at least our “poor” coaching is a sign of the latter.
Go Vikings! Great job to the COACHES!

I believe that the players on the team can be successful but I think with a coach like childress we are going to have a rough time for several years to come. If youre not winning with the most talent, your not going to win when that talent gets older. I HOPE I AM WRONG…GOOO VIKINGS

I hope not to hear boos and yelling during the game– that will not help the team. Anyone that does so should receive a one-way bus ticket to Green Bay.

Paul: Don’t second guess Harvin out of practice. His tools of the trade are speed more so than power. At mid-season, ankle injuries can slow and limit production of quality receivers. We need him as good as we can get him on Sunday, not Thursday. He’ll be in better shape by Sunday, keep the faith!

I am a Viking fan for life, but Childress is wasting this team’s talent.

Randy Moss has done much more for the Minnesota Vikings than Brett Favre or Brad Childress.

I will not be surprised to see the Cardinals upset us at home.

go vikings go do not stop and win that superbowl. its not over and you have to believe!! do not be negative vikings fans. the true fans stand behind the team in good times or bad times. this season it will be the superbowl win for the vikings!!!

who are you kidding. Greg Lewis is a joke, he can’t even get open in single coverage. Baskett is a joke, he can’t even catch. Chilly is a joke of a coach, take the keys away from Chilly, or we will be celler dwellers for the next 10 years !!!!!!!!!!!!

  99. By fire childress on Nov 5, 2010 | Reply

forgot to mention BB can’t catch either, he has 6 receptions through 7 games. since chilly cut Moss, lets trade BB and Chilly off to another team for future draft picks

I agree with everyone that said to fire Childress. He is the biggest idiot in the world. He gave up Randy Moss its not everyday that Randy Moss is on your team. Just think about our passing attack with Rice coming back Harvin, Moss, Shank, and AP. your STUPID CHILDRESS.You need to step aside.

and by the way, I see the cards upsetting us. I cant believe that the vikings are 9.5 point favorites in this game. I would like to know what the guys who made this spread were smoking.

Make it loud in the dome on Sunday!!! REAL LOUD!!! Don’t give up on the players just because of the coach!! Stand tough people, support our players!!! Go Vikings!!!!!!!

it’s really a shame that Chilly was gutless enough to let Moss go. it was all a power trip, that will cost us fans to watch a losing year go by the wayside. Moss had a guy over the top all the time, now we see 8 men in the box all the time again. once were out of the playoff race, i can’t see us selling out anymore. there will be empty seats and empty hearts.it will take years to repair the holes chilly has caused in this Vikings ship. celler dwellers once again for possibly 10 years. thanks Chilly !!!!!!!!!!!!

Let Fisher show chili how to play Moss. Titans all the way baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moss is soooo overrated! If he was so great, the Patriots would have kept him. Thank you Childress for having the guts to get rid of this infection. How much money does he get a game for one catch, maybe! Sidney is so much better then Moss.

  106. By VAvikefan on Nov 5, 2010 | Reply

and thank YOU robins for suckin Brad’s D I C K once again!..gimme a break dude =/ and yes sidney is gud but yu cant compare sumbody with one gud season to sumbody thats been doin it HIS WHOLE CAREER! Moss is the best reciever of his day. smh i hope when brad is fired you follow right out behind him

  107. By justin on Nov 5, 2010 | Reply

Harvin will play. If Favre can play with 2 freaking fractures in his ankle, I’m sure Harvin will find a way to play in some capacity.

  108. By TWVIKE on Nov 5, 2010 | Reply

Should have waived brad kept Moss. Sydney is good, but Moss is Moss. Numbers dont lie, we knew how he is, and got him anyway. Chilly got his little mangina hurt and waived Randy without Zigis knowledge. Zigi, grow a pair, and fire this so called head coach.

I believed that chilly should of been down the road three years ago.He is a terible coach if you want to call him that.He threw the nfc championship game last year.He didn’t have enough common sence to call time out in over time to make sure that favre hung on to the ball and get what he could so that longwell could kick a fildgoal to win the game. Then also in that game he didn’t have enough smarts to throw the red flag on a touchdown the Saints made witch the runners knee were on the ground before the ball crossed the goal line.Chilly dosn’t have the sense God gave him to come out of the rain let alone being a coach.Last week he threw the red flag when it was obvious the player from New England cought the ball.So lets waste a time out.Man he’s got to go.I hope the owners can see this, and do something before Chiiy totally destroyes this team.

Again, I just feel sorry for the Wilfs as they have done a tremendous job giving Childress more than a coach could ever hope for. He is simply not up to the task and the Wilfs should make the change.
