Vikings, Patriots Tied At Half

Posted by cjsiewert on October 31, 2010 – 3:41 pm

The Vikings and Patriots have entered the locker room for halftime tied at 7. Vikings QB Brett Favre has shown little, if any, adverse affects from his injured left ankle, completing 11 of 13 passes for 121 yards.

Adrian Peterson has taken a significant load of off Favre’s shoulders by recording 18 carries for 68 yards and a TD – the Vikings have tallied 33 total plays.

The Vikings took a timeout with 1:07 remaining in the half with a 4th and goal from the New England 1-yard line. Head Coach Brad Childress opted to go for the TD attempt and the play fell short with Peterson tackled in the backfield.

In his first return to New England after being traded away to the Vikings prior to Week 5, WR Randy Moss has 0 receptions and has been targeted only once. Percy Harvin leads all receivers with 4 receptions for 64 yards.

Minnesota will open the 2nd half receiving the kickoff.

Because they thought they could catch the Pat off guard. Seriously, would you have any cover a guy that can’t catch?

At least Childress decided to take the points this time.

  5. By martin on Oct 31, 2010 | Reply

our d has not come up with big plays all season when needed…they may have good overall stats but at key moments they collapse

Let’s play Favre football? Let’s play Favre football? That the one thing we should not do. We are playing a great game right now. except Favre should have been picked off 2 times by now. He should not even be in the game. Don’t worry, Favre will turn the ball over real soon.

pretty well tells you how good the ol is …they would get beat on 1/8 of an inch to go….now watch new england go 91 yards for a td…unless they make a mistake they will move the ball easily and slowly as no pressure on brady or when pressured they cannot tackle anyone

Is Childress to blame for our poor defensive play? Aren;t defensive players taught to stay in their lanes?

  13. By vbviking on Oct 31, 2010 | Reply

childress goes for it again on 4th down and we are stooped how bot some play action childress need to go Leslie Frazier should be the head coach

I am not a fan of Childress, but I do not think he has much to do with our defense…….

  15. By childress sux on Oct 31, 2010 | Reply

everything is childress’ fault. its ultimately all on the head coaches shoulders when its all said and done.

again lets not let another defensive coordinator take a different tean to the superbowl

Nice call Vikeman, thanks Brett for costing us another season. Can’t wait for everyone to blame this mess of yours on Childress. Favre had absolutely no business starting this game. Childress should be Fired for letting Favre come in and s crew this team over (again) They gave it a shot and it didn’t work out. They should have benched him during the Jets game.

you take the fieldgoal, lead, and monmentum into the locker room Brad, especially on the road!!!, have you learned nothing this year about making or confirming the go-ahead and then running a f***ed-up, doomed from the get-go play???

and then when you go for it, you and the coaches run ap on a stacked defensive line!!!-it’s been confirmed once again, that your a god awful coach-period…

if in this instance you had ran the same play or variation that t-man later threw the td on, you’d probably be looking at a win in this game…

Have to agree with purplehaze. Horrible call to go for it on 4th and a full yard at end of first half. In a situation where your team expends a lot of energy grinding the ball all the way up the field to the goal line, you cannot afford to end a drive like that without points. Were the Vikes behind by 7? No. The score was tied.

Kick the field goal. Take the LEAD into the locker room.

The play call was horrible too. Vikings lined up for run. No receiver option. Pats responded accordingly. 4th and inches maybe. 4th and 1? No way.

It sucks the wind out of a whole team when a team comes up empty handed in a situation like that.

Fans say go for it. A quality head coach say’s take the points. How can the owner of a football team with the talent pool on this team let a bone head coach like Childress coach this squad? Easy choice, easy fix.

A friendly advise from a Pats fan: FIRE THAT IDIOT COACH NOW. And bring back one of the best all time receiver in the league (Moss) back . MY GRANDMOMA CAN COACH BETTER THAN IDIOT CHILDRESS.

as far as i know there are 11 men on defense 10 other men on offense besides farve, how about the rest of the team look in the mirror and really see how well they are playing just because farve is the media and attention getter, how bout the rest of you step up and then see where things go,as far as moss better off without him gee why did NE trade him, because hes such a good teammate???he cost the team a loss in ne,why do you want someone who is about himself, come on vikes lets play football the way this team is capable of playing.
