Vikings Take 17-14 Lead

Posted by cjsiewert on October 24, 2010 – 7:48 pm

The Vikings took their 1st lead of the game after a 28-yard FG by K Ryan Longwell. Visanthe Shiancoe appeared to have a 17-yard TD reception from Brett Favre 3 plays prior to the FG, but the play was challenged by Green Bay and eventually overturned with the Vikings TE said to not have possession of the football.

The Vikings currently hold a 3-point lead at the 2-minute warning.

Defense needs to step up. Too much Cover 2. Rodgers has seen it enough times to KNOW where the holes are going to be IN HIS SLEEP!!!

MIX IT UP. We need the stop!!!

Rodgers is off and they still get 1st downs.

Be careful here Offense….A score would be great, but let’s make sure that we are going into halftime with nothing less than the 3 point lead.

What a bs call on moss!!

  7. By PurplePeopleEater on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

No killer instinct from the coaches. It’s going to end up getting our players killed.

  8. By PurplePeopleEater on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

Agreed Dave. Refs just don’t like seeing receivers play patty-cake on the field. All Moss was doing was feeling for where the defender was.

why did chilly run the clock out with 2 timeout’s left with 1st down on the 50 yard line? fire chilly now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What non-sense ? You’ve a superstar Wide receiver and a QB .. this idiot coach wastes 25 seconds and 2 timeouts .. Vikes will never win a Super Bowl with this coach .. how idiotic.

3 Time Outs And you don’t use THEM!!!!!!!!!! CHILDRESS IS THE WORST !!!!!!!!!!!

  13. By TJ on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

Come on Childress. You are to slow to challenge the Packers TD that shouldn’t have counted and too slow to get your players off the field to kick extra points when our TDs get challenged. Now you run out the half. You are the worst!

  14. By fire childress on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

  16. By PurplePeopleEater on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

What’s worse is that Moss is in a bad mood now because we didn’t try to extend the lead a little at the half. That usually doesn’t bode well for the team that is throwing to him.

Childress SUCKS!!!!!!!He could’t call a High School game.No wonder the Vikings can’t win anything. He needs to go back to where he came from, school ball! This team will under achieve until he is FIRED!!!!!This team couldn’t win playing in college1

Yeah, I just don’t understand what happened there.
And Shiancoe’s catch should have been a TD.

  19. By BfreshGFVikingsFan on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

WOW! Fire Childress right now!! 27 seconds left and we are on the 35 or so, WITH 2 TIMEOUTS!! and Childress goes to the locker room! That is garbage and how are we supposed to send messages to the opposing team. I can’t believe what I just saw. If Childress is coach next year, I’m seriously going to find a new team to watch!

  20. By randynick on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

childress is an idiot. you got 20 seconds left. at least give it a try.
he is the worst coach in football. way to challenge their touchdown catch too

  22. By sambira on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

Whoever decided not to use the timeouts at the end of the half should be fired. You could see that Farve and Moss were both ready to go and we just sat there. Also, how come Green Bay can call up a review immediately but the Vikings seem to not know what is going on. This smells of bad coaching.

  23. By PurplePeopleEater on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

Packers are going to be remembering that Moss is mad and beat him around at the Line of Scrimmage to make him angrier and then watch him take himself out of the game.

I’m very impressed by Brad Childress and Darrell Bevell with this great offensive play calling. Dave your right, that was a bs call on Moss, Collins acted. That ref is such a Packers fan, he tried to help the Packers last Sunday against the Dolphins but they still lost.

  31. By Dennis on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

None of our coaches know how to tell time let alone on how to run a clock. Oh yeh and another thing that makes it soooo easy for defenses….it’s first down so they know we always hand it off and run up the middle. Come on change things up once in awhile.

  32. By Paul Nienaber on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

Childress is a bad joke and must go now!!!! It was the second coming of the Denny Green take a knee. What a gutless coward! I hope Favre and Moss mutiny in the locker room. McCarthy…alert head coach that challenges touchdowns that get reversed…Childress…head coach who is trying to figure out what he wants to order off his Perkins menu…Where’s Brewster when you need him?

  39. By courtney Houchen on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

win or lose i knew almost word for word childress presser…the sport writers at the presser dont challenge but him ask to most pathetic vanilla questions…he would be roasted in almost every city….longwell is a great field goal kicker but we really need a deep kickoff kicker as almost every game the opposition gets 2 starts at 35 yard or beyond…

  44. By David on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

UNBELIEVABLE – we most likely could have had 3 more points at least. Reminds me of Dennis Green at the end of the NFC championship game when Cunningham took a knee rather than try and win in regulation. This lack of common sense in time management goes back a long way, Childress continues the tradition. Makes no sense at all- of course we all know that, why doesn’t the coach!!!???

Unbelievable. What kind of play calling was that? Moss was right to question your decision to run the clock out at halftime. Let’s start calling the plays like we want to win. Otherwise, maybe it is time for a coaching change.

  48. By randynick on Oct 24, 2010 | Reply

Okay, time to forget about the bad coaching in the first half. Defense did their job in the opening drive, and it’s up to Favre and Co. to put up a bigger lead. We need to take control of this game quickly.

Favre is trying too hard, and when he does that things go bad more often than they go good! PULL #4!!!
