Coach all we need to do to win games is not turn the ball over limit down on penalties and play smart football. Superbowl teams are the ones that don’t beat themselves we need to instill that in our team. You should also bench lito and try other corners like walker or sherals see how they do. Our secondary is in for a long night next week against a pass happy team. We need to keep kleinsasser back to block again he is good in protection maybe pound gerhart more he is a thumper. Why not use wear out defenses with peterson and gerhart and play good defense. Smart football less penalties is how we win games.

Is there a reason that our pass protection looks terrible compared to last year ? Is this a major concern this week with the good chance of needing to deal with Matthews ?

I am sure you all have the best medical staff and they are up on all the latest to keep the guys healthy. My wife is a Family Physician. Not an M.D. but a D.O. Doctor of Osteopathy. We know that Brett took a shot of cortizone, but this is only a temporary fix. Can you have someone, or Brett look into Prolotherapy. My wife swares by it and believes Brett and any of your other players can benefit from this.

why do we continue to run 1st down run 2nd down and then pass 3rd down, our offense is so easy to read and even easier to defend. in the 2nd half of the Jets game Brett started to pass on the other downs and what a difference it made. why would you bring in as quaterback of this caliper and not mix it up a little diferently.

As fans, we want to see every play as an explosive sentiment of how great we think we are. That’s not realistic…I’ve learned to watch the Vikes and understand game plans…although I have my own opinions of some of the play calling but my question si this: With a veteran QB and a dynamic running game, why can’t we have more swing plays to AP, screens to Toby and what’s happened to Shank who was open almost always last year?

Thanks Coach and I’m pulling for another W this week, especially in Cheese Town!! My best..

  12. By WTF on Oct 19, 2010 | Reply

Ray – we won on Sunday B/C Brett wasn’t passing the whole time. Look at statistics. They favor the run with this team. The more often we run the ball, and fewer times Brett throws it the more often we win.

All we need to do is set up the passing game early, especially with Moss out there, and then after getting the early lead we can beat teams with the ground game. It will keep opposing defenses tired and ours healthy and ready to create more disaster for opposing offenses.

I am not saying pass more I am saying mix it up on the downs go back and watch the games 1st down run 2nd down run 3rd down forced to pass the defense knows what we are doing that is why we are not effective.

  15. By chaos on Oct 19, 2010 | Reply

Jared Allen will get 6 sacks on Rodgers. 2 forced fumbles, a int. and a TD! Adrian Peterson will rush for 133 yards and 2 TD’s on 17 car. Brett will fumble once but make up for it with 3 TD’s, moss, harvin, and shiancoe. Vikings win 31-17. Lets go VIKINGS!

  16. By Coach on Oct 19, 2010 | Reply

Keep rodgers off the field as much as possible milking down the clock with peterson and gerhart play smart football with a suffocating defense is all we need to win next week.

  17. By chaos on Oct 19, 2010 | Reply

Of course, I did predict Jared Allen would get tony romo 3 times. and the vikings would get a total of 12 sacks. and win 28-14. Oh well.

  18. By chaos on Oct 19, 2010 | Reply

    suffocating defense is our what we do best. {it is also kinda hard to spell}

  19. By Coach on Oct 19, 2010 | Reply

Coach also you need to line up harvin in the backfield more often also he is doing a fine job at running he reminds me of the leaner version of peterson. Peterson harvin and gerhart run it down those packers throats punish them wear them out black and blue division style. Make sure harvin doesn’t fumble he has been doing good with it make sure he doesn’t fumble NO TURNOVERS NEXT WEEK AND DUMB PENALTIES we should win!!

WTF, YOU COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG! The more we run play option plays and NOT run plays, the more we get first downs. The passing game opens it up for AP because the linebackers start dropping back. Look at last season, we passed the ball more often and Favre moved the chains like they were made of paper! When we have receivers in place that run their routes right and don’t drop ball s, Favre moves that ball quickly. And then when we need a couple of yards, hand it off to AP and he will get that 1st down. I have seen too many games where AP is stuffed and doesn’t get much gain because we keep trying to run the ball. AP should be used more in the passing game as well because he will be past the defensive line and only have a linebacker or safety to deal with. Trust me on this, this team can win the Super Bowl if they get their passing game going. Look at Manning and Brady, they win Superbowls because of the pass NOT the run.

We have 3 good running backs. and we have a handful of speedy receivers. Why not do a screen pass more, get these talented players out in space and let them do their thing. I dont see why we havent utilitzed that option yet.

I was wandering, since sidney rice is off his crutches and wants to play, when can we expect to see him play? Whats the status of sullivan, when will he be back? and is cris cook planned to start on sunday, or will he be delayed coming back?

  41. By miko on Oct 19, 2010 | Reply

i agree with you nik. We all know Toby Gerhart is a lil rough around the edges, but game experience can smooth them out. Let him hit a couple of people. Thats all a running back needs

  42. By Kevin on Oct 19, 2010 | Reply

It seems to me like the Vikings have become very predictable with play calling with a run, run, pass combination. Very little creativity. Last season, we threw tons of screens and what ever happened to play action and throwing to Schianco. Favre completed those to perfection last year. Why not mix it up more and keep defenses guessing. If the average fan knows whats coming, then I am sure an NFL defense can figure it out. Go back and look at your tendencies last year vs 2010. I am sure you will notice a huge difference in the play calling. I loved the Vikings identity last season, so why try to be something the Vikings are not. Let your talent loose and throw the ball. Favre and the Vikings are at their best when they throw. Whenever the Vikes fell short a year ago, it was because we got conservative. Go Vikings!

Are you giving TJ the required number of reps now that with a phone call, #4 could be suspended? I agree a lot with the person that said the Vikings are NEVER seen attempting to strip the ball , WHY NOT?
Also on every kickoff by the opposing team, I cring, because we do not have a special team on defense. We suck.
Harvin is special, Give him what he needs, including team recognition and a bonus. What ever happened to the concept pay everyone a base salary at a game, then a sack ++ a touchdown +++ an interception++ etc. We know that this years Vikings are just as good as last years team, but we are playing with great reservatiion! FIRE ‘EM UP! Make ‘em mad, and most of all disipline. If Brett did what is being accused of send him home so moma can kick him in the nuts!
Mr. Drama Queen!!! If not, PLAY BALL, this is the YEAR OF THE SUPER BOWL!!

  45. By Itsnowornever on Oct 19, 2010 | Reply

We need to be more alert on special teams especially the very last play when there were laterals we need to tackle better than that luckily there was a penalty. We cannot be chasing the ball like idiots without tackling when all they were doing was playing keep away throwing laterals. Hope we get more solid tackling on special teams, talking about the last play we did a decent overall job on special teams last week don’t know if it was a one time thing but we need to be consistent on a weekly basis.

Question #1: Why was Tyrell Johnson put on inactive? Did you trade him, not want him, not like him, or what? Tyrell is a great player an deserves to be on the field at least part of the time.

Question #2: Yes Favre is getting paid a butt load of money but why pay someone to lose you the game? Why let someone play that didn’t do summer practice or the preseason games?

  50. By WTF on Oct 19, 2010 | Reply

Bruce, GO BACK AND LOOK AT THE NUMBERS! That may be what you THINK happens, but since Brett arrived, in games including the playoffs here are actual statistics:

    8 – Losses 15 – Wins
5 losses where AP carried 10 Wins where AP carried
less than 20 times 20 times or more
6 losses where BF threw 10 wins where BF threw
more than 30 times 30 times or less

  51. By WTF on Oct 19, 2010 | Reply

Forgive me, the previous post got scrambled:

    8 – Losses
5 losses where AP carried less than 20 times
6 losses where BF threw more than 30 times

    15 – Wins
10 Wins where AP carried 20 times or more
10 wins where BF threw 30 times or less

We win 66% of the time when AP has 20+ carries AND we win 66% of the time when BF has <31 throws
We lose 62.5% of the time when AP has <20 carries AND we lose 75% of the time when BF has 31+ throws

  52. By WTF on Oct 19, 2010 | Reply

Furthermore – 7 of our wins were games where both AP got 20+ carries AND BF had <30 throws.

There were ZERO losses where both AP got 20+ carries AND BF had <30 throws.

Also, I agree with others that you need to mix up the play calling more. O.K. let’s cont’ to cut down on turnovers and penalties. Thanks. Go Vikes. We need this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  58. By Bruce on Oct 20, 2010 | Reply

WTF, Until I look up all your so called facts I am still going to tell you that throwing the ball more wins Championships and even if your numbers were right, I’m still going to say that throwing the ball more wins Championships. If you look at all the past Super Bowl winners, the majority of them had quarterbacks that were know for throwing the ball. Look at Terry Bradshaw and his 4 rings, Look at Brady, Look at Manning. These are quarterbacks that spread the ball around and throw the ball often. Your statistics also don’t take in account who we were playing, their defensive capabilities in stopping the run or stopping the pass. You can’t just paint a black & white picture and say the more we run the more we win. Running the ball 4 times in a row in the red zone LIKE WE HAVE DONE BEFORE and coming away with NO POINTS is wrong when you can run a slant and throw a touchdown to Shianco or throw one in the corner to Harvin or Moss. And consequently come away with 7 points. I know I have seen games where we are TRYING to run the ball and it stalls and I have seen games where Brett throws the ball and we move the ball down the field in under 2 minutes. You use the plays that work whether its pass run pass or pass, pass run or run, run, pass or whatever. But this team is geared for a stellar passing game and to not use it is a sin and Manning wouldn’t hand the ball off if he had this many weapons. So your numbers mean nothing WTF because you did not consider all the other facts.

  59. By Bruce on Oct 20, 2010 | Reply

WTF if you still don’t get what I’m saying, let me explain it to you. Example, we play a team that is lousy at stopping the run and we give AP the ball more and we win the game. That doesn’t mean we should run the ball more. OR we play a team that has a good pass defense so we stop throwing the ball so much and go with the run and win the game. OR we keep throwing it against a good pass defense and lose the game. We just met both sides of your reasoning for running the ball more often because we play a team with a good paqss defense and a good run defense. Now what if we play more teams with a good run defense who also had a bad pass defense? Well then we would be stupid for running the ball more than passing the ball. Do you see what I’m getting at? You can’t just throw out numbers without considering all the variables and considering the teams we played and even wher we played the, Too many variables to consider that could sway the argument in your favor just because the losses were away from home and were against good pass defense teams that couldn’t block the run very well!

All the time? Are you kidding me? 30 påsses is in no portion of the idea ALL THE TIME. OF COURSE YOU NEED TO MIX IT UP! But that doesn’t mean that we should rely on the pass more than stats show we should. Go ahead and find me stats that prove the ASSUMPTIONS that you are presenting, I am talking only about facts. I didn’t want to dig nearly that deep myself, I have other things to do with my time. The fact is that Favre can do it, but NOT AT THE LEVEL YOU ARE ASKING. Favre 2010 is not the same Favre of 1997. He can’t throw the ball that often and still produce at an NFL level. ADRIAN PETERSON is our team.

  62. By Bruce on Oct 20, 2010 | Reply

Favre 2009 which was only last year MORON was better than Favre 1995,1996 and1997. Yes typical know it all, only looks up part of the facts just to prove what he wants to prove! And if AP is your team, then why did the Vikings send 3 players down to get Favre? They could have just started with Jackson and let AP be YOUR team! Even AP admits that Favre gives them the best chance to go all the way. You are a know it all MORON! You see what name calling gets you? And if you are going to present stats or facts of one team in playing other teams, remember that the opponent’s facts and stats figure into the equation. That’s basic math MORON!
