Vikings, Cowboys Tied 7-7 After 1st Quarter

Posted by cjsiewert on October 17, 2010 – 3:02 pm

The Dallas Cowboys took a 7-0 lead on a 15-yard TD pass from QB Tony Romo to WR Roy Williams at the 5:06 mark in the 1st quarter. The 8-play, 48-yard drive lasted 4:03. The series started on the Minnesota 48 after a Vikings fumble between QB Brett Favre and RB Adrian Peterson.

The following series resulted in a quick 3-and-out for the Vikings, giving the Cowboys the ball at their own 16 after a Chris Kluwe punt. On the 3rd play of the ensuing series, Romo’s pass intended for TE Jason Whitten was deflected at the line of scrimmage and intercepted by LB E.J. Henderson and returned 10 yards to the Dallas 16.

Brett Favre and Co. needed just 3 plays to find the endzone with Favre connecting with WR Greg Camarillo for a 10-yard TD pass.

Bench farve should be 21 to 7 omg 1 fumble already and sacked 2 times please we need a real QB..not an old washed up QB

Favre should know that his line sucks. After 20 years he should KNOW where the blitzes are coming from and HE SHOULD KNOW when he needs to throw it to the check down receiver. But he is always looking downfield for the big plays…

  115. By Vegas Viking on Oct 17, 2010 | Reply

TW your pretty funny man so I can’t hate on you, I just didn’t understand why you guys were so negative in that first half. I never felt like the game was lost at any point. Sure the offense didn’t produce much, but I think they managed the game well and took what they gave us underneath. That pass to Moss in the end zone was the perfect pass for Randy and 8 out of 10 times he catches that pass. Did you see how much bigger he was than those d backs when all 3 were stretched out, that’s encouraging as I’m sure that ball will be catched many times down the road. I think we can go into GB and get the win next week so I’m pretty positive about the team right now, we win that game and we are right back in the mix.

  116. By TWVIKE on Oct 17, 2010 | Reply

Vegas- We had 60 total yards in the 1st half. I have been a Viking fan since 1968, we basicaly have the same team from last year, why are we having such a tough time? 42 years of disappointment, maybe thats why I get negative. They will be throwing dirt in my face, 6 feet under, when the Vikes win a Super Bowl.

  117. By Beverly Barninger on Oct 17, 2010 | Reply

The Cowboys are a tough team and so are the Vikings. It was a great game and I am very glad the Vikes won. It was a TEAM effort. The O-line looks weak and needs to protect Brett. Brett was very accurate with his throws and the fumble was due to AP not grasping the football. I am a loyal fan whether we win or lose. Cut out the negative talk and support your team no matter what.

  118. By pc on Oct 17, 2010 | Reply

We simply need to find a running back that can pick up a blitz. The O-line is certainly not dominant but they would be adequate if someone could pick up the rusher coming free and let Favre have enough time to go down the field.

Memo to Old School and Kurt I have no Wood. You guys sound like the high school waterboys that never played sports or got the girl. Judging by the amount of posts on this site my guess is this still holds true today.

  119. By Vegas Viking on Oct 17, 2010 | Reply

TW, I feel your pain, just not quite as long, have faith, I really see this thing coming together in the next couple of games, if we actually get SIdney back, we are going to be very dangerous the 2nd half of the season. Interesting stat, A. Rogers already has 6 ints, just 1 less than Favre so if our d-backs can actually catch a ball that hits them in their hands, we will be in business.
