Griffin Placed On IR; Sherels Back On Practice Squad

Posted by Mike Wobschall on October 13, 2010 – 3:09 pm

Signing veteran CB Frank Walker wasn’t the only roster business the Vikings conducted on Wednesday.

A roster spot became available because the Vikings placed CB Cedric Griffin on IR.

The team also brought CB Marcus Sherels back to the team and placed him on the practice squad.

It wouldn’t seem as bad if we play G.C. more atleast then there would be production but they hardly use him.

chilly really messed up the draft this year, could of got Mays and Best. we will never win anything with Chilly aboard

lets put Chilly on the practice squad. we can give him a toy headset and he can pretend to be a head coach, wait! thats what he’s doing now!!

childress did ruin the draft… imagine having Mays… or trading that pick for a very valued corner instead of Cook.

I ATTENDED THE GAME VS. THE JETS AS A FULLY CLAD VIKINGS FAN.

LIVING IN NJ, I LISTEN TO ALMOST EVERY REX RYAN NEWS CONFERENCE.

IF ANY VIKINGS FAN WANTS A TASTE OF HOW & WHY THE JETS AS A TEAM – AND THEIR FANS – ARE SO MOTIVATED TO WIN & EXCEL, JUST GO TO NYJETS.COM AND WATCH THE REX RYAN NEWS CONFERENCE. IT IS WHAT IS MISSING FROM OUR VIKINGS THIS SEASON.

FOR GOD’S SAKE WHY DO WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE 2nd HALF OF GAMES FOR OUR TEAM TO COME TOGETHER?? CAN’T THE COACHING STAFF MAKE THEIR ADJUSTMENTS ON THE FLY?? I’M SORRY TO SAY THIS BUT BRAD CHILDRESS, IN MY OPINION, IS JUST A GLORIFIED OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR – AT BEST! I KNOW THAT COACH ANDY REID VETOED BRAD CHILDRESS ON MANY OCCASSIONS, SO HIS SUCCESS AS THE EAGLES OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR WAS DUE TO A MAJOR PART TO ANDY REID.

OUR SAVING GRACE THIS WEEK MAY BE THAT IN WADE PHILLIPS, WE’RE FACING ANOTHER – AT BEST – GLORIFIED ASSISTANT.

WE NEED GREATNESS, POISE AND A PROACTIVE INNOVATOR AND LEADER IN BOTH OUR HEAD COACH AND QB OF THE FUTURE.

EVEN THOUGH I HAVE GREAT ADMIRATION FOR SPIELMAN, I’M VERY FRUSTRATED THAT WE WEREN’T AS PROACTIVE AS WE COULD HAVE BEEN DURING THE PRE-SEASON IN ACQUIRING A WR, O LINEMAN, CB, YOUNG QB OF THE FUTURE, ETC. WHAT DO I MEAN BY PROACTIVE? JUST GO BACK AND REVIEW ALL THE MOVES THE JETS MADE. WHY DO
I CHOOSE TO LOOK AT THEM? BECAUSE I BELIEVE THEY ARE NOW THE BEST TEAM IN THE NFL.

HOPEFULLY OUR SEASON WON’T BE OVER IN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS! I JUST WANT TO WIN – NOW!!!

Vikings likes to play catch up. When was the last time that they can dominate any team. They look good on paper but does not appear to have the heart of a champion. Is it really hard for management to put together a “winner”?

nfl channel says the loser of the vikings and cowboys game is out of the playoffs. i agree. with our schedule, we will not win 9 of the remaining 11 games to get the last wildcard. goodbye stadium

Chilli is a terrible couch, I hope that if this turns out to be a worst case season they send chilli packing and finally use a high draft pick for a future star qb.

People forget how slow the vikes offense was coming out of the gate last year as well but the diff. is strength of schedule. We had easy teams so favre didnt have to play great, good job little chilli in letting your qb walk all over u.

I get frustrated at times watching a Viking team which has more talent then the Jets team and yet sputters till the end of the third quarter. Then sputters terribly when the game can be won at the end. Then I realize it’s a business and your playing at a brand new stadium. You need to sell out each game and keep the fans eating and drinking as long as possible to pay off the stadium bill. The Vikes helped the Jets do that. Kept them there at half 9-0 and kept it close until the end. I’ll bet most of the Jets games will be close this season in the new stadium and likewise in Dallas’ new facility.

The defense is not playing up to standards, look what allen did against to jets nothing.

I dont agree, the d- is spending too much time on the field because the o keeps going 3 and out.

@ fire childress now…First of all your total lack of understanding of football and narrow-minded way of thinking really shows when you put up posts like you do. Secondly, Childress is not the only one making draft day decisions. Rob B. is the main one, hence his title of Director of Player Personell The position we were needing help at more was at Cornerback not Safety. That is why we took Cook over Mays. Cook is the strongest and largest CB rookie, it’s just ashame he got injured twice like he did, but in his first game against Detroit, he held down Johnson quite well, despite Johnson being quite physical. All involved with the draft cannot predict injuries to players coming in when they didn’t have a history of them in college. That is why we picked Cook over Best. Best had a history of being injury prone, plus he is a #1 back not a situational #2. Ummm last I knew we had AP so scratch Best off the board. Get a clue, get a life and/or get a new team to root for because fans like you are what bring the team down!!!! GO VIKES!!!!

Sherels shouldn’t just be on the practice squad, he should be on the field. He may be a rookie, but he’s still better than a certain someone who allowed THREE touchdowns. As soon as we have Cook back on the field we should be ok though, but the loss of Cedric is really putting a strain on this team.
