Why do you think you know more than Farve in calling plays? Don’t call ANY of the plays. Let Farve call all of the plays.
Why do you think you know more than AP in running the ball? Get rid of the fullback and spread out the offense. Let AP run the ball the way he wants to.

Why havn’t you utilized the athletic ability in Joe Webb in some sort of Wildcat package? He is explosive and could be a KEY factor to this Vikings offense. It’s a waste of talent to have him sidelined.

    Coach Childress-
What are you doing? Why did you not have this team prepared? You had 2 weeks to scheme for the Jets. What happened? Are the Jets just better than us? Did we get outcoached? What do you have to say?

I too lke the “Wildcat” idea, but why not give Travaris a chance to run it? Clearly he has more foot speed than Favre, and he’s proven in the past he can be a spark to the offense by Making Plays with his legs! If the Def team over plays the stretch play, Travaris can make them pay with a bootleg pass or run to the backside. I think we all realize Favre doesn’t want to come out of the game, ever, but this is his last yr w/ the team and Travaris needs to take some game snaps to further his development. In addition, it wouldn’t hurt Brett to take a series or two off every now and then especially when he isn’t moving the team or not playing well. Favre should be “mature enough” to handle this Coaching / Team decision!

    Coach Childress,
Why don’t you get JOE WEBB in the O-line…common man, figure this out.

  7. By TN Muddy Cleats on Oct 12, 2010 | Reply

Why not use AP catching the ball out of the backfield to give him more touches and chances in the open field and let Gerhart run the ball more between the tackles where his size would be better utilized?

I agree with Jeff Green and I sound like a broken record, Joe Webb is one of the best athletes on the VIkings and to have him just sitting out all year is really a waste, how many years will he just sit along the sidelines? I know as long as Favre is playing no QB will get time unless the Vikings are comfortably ahead or Favre gets hurt. Not using Webb sure seems like a waste.

More of a comment, I’m excited for you to get fired after we miss the playoffs with all the talent we have. We would like an aggressive coach in Minnesota for once who actually would like to win rather than try not to lose.

common guys the first play should be put in the playbook.Moss to favre did not see that one coming good game vikes….The vikings are getting fired up..Lets all support them and the coaching staff..Brad has alot on his plate….

    Hey coach,

I agree with others that Brett Favre needs to sitout some series or even a game and watch the younger, mobile and talented Jackson and Webb provide the needed spark to regroup this team. Seems like Brett is hurting so why not.

    Coach Childress,
Since you seem to be on your knees in front of Favre, can you confirm the legitimacy of those pictures?

  16. By lol@chilkly on Oct 12, 2010 | Reply

When will you be resigning as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings? Will it be in time for the Vikings to make the play offs?
Have you considered a career at McDonalds so you could succeed since you wouldn’t have to make any key decisions? Do you purposely practice poor game management, or are you stoned on the side line most of the time?

  17. By Bill Rippey on Oct 12, 2010 | Reply

in the first half you ran on first and second down all the time.My wife even knew what play was coming.Run up the middle then another run and then obvious passing down here comes the blitz.TV crew was mocking blitz pick up by the running backs

  18. By PurplePeopleEater on Oct 12, 2010 | Reply

What’s it going to take to give Jackson or Webb a shot at QB? It’s become obvious that Favre can’t get the job done any more, so how much pain are we going to be put through before we look for the right answer?

  19. By fire childress on Oct 12, 2010 | Reply

due you plan on winning the next 13 games, or are you going to drop a few more games, so we miss playoffs? i’m sure you realize how important it is to win this year, for our new stadium. if my team moves to L.A. i will hold you responsible

RUN SOME DIFFERENT PLAY’S !! EVERY TEAM IN THE NFL KNOWS WHATS COMING NEXT! LESLIE FRAZIER FOR HEAD COACH!!!!

  21. By Observerfan on Oct 12, 2010 | Reply

I know it’s only one game but why wasn’t the team spreading out that New York Defense?..stop running the same plays over and over again!!
Giving the ball to Peterson yet again?..oh go figure who they are zeroing in on.
Passing to Moss?…Look who they got matched up
Why not passing more to Harvin?…or anyone else for that matter
Do you study different plays or just let Farve do it?
I predict a flat season if you continue the idiotic play calling

  22. By Bev Barninger on Oct 12, 2010 | Reply

I have to agree to let Brett make most of the play calling. I too knew what play was coming and I don’t play football. Way to predictable!

  23. By Hyder on Oct 12, 2010 | Reply

    Yo check it out..

I understand that Moss is a great addition to the team but we do not need him to be the star. Coach use him more as a decoy to open up the play book for Harvin and Peterson. Plus dont forget who was our number one receiver coming into this game…Yeah Our tight end! He’s the one thats been getting us through games. He need to have him more in the offense. Stick to the who is really the talk of the Vikings and let Peterson do is thing for us. In doing so you open the passing game for Moss, Harvin and Shaincoe. I guarantee you once they try and stop Peterson by stacking the line with Linebacker and D line men you have to slots and slant route wide open down the middle of the field. Once we start doing that and they drop back in two cover two, then it opens up the deep routes which bring Moss then in to get up deep. Plus lets not forget that in anyone has made a big improvement from last year its Peterson with holding on to the ball. So you can still use him for passing plays in the flats and give him the ball in his hands to make big plays on 3rd downs. Overall I dont think you show be fire just yet cause you have made good decision when it comes to acquiring and placement in the Vikings depth chart your just making bad decision when it comes to game time and thats crucial. I think you should stop tryin to force it and go back to last years scheme where you made good 3rd down decision. I know Moss is back, and he’s my favorite receiver of all time, but dont force him to make plays for us. Open up the choices we have with the talent our players poses and lets go win us these next football game!! We still have a chance at this seeing how we still have 5 division games left and thats whats really matter when it comes down to making the playoffs at first. But hey we can still have a chance at a wild card. So i still believe in this team and in Brett but correct the mistakes, and do what it takes “TO” correct them and go out there and play for the people who support you all the way….the FANS!!

Coach our draft class this year looks pretty bad. Cook injuried, Gerhart ineffective (for a 2nd and 3rd picks), E, Griffen and Webb inactive. DeGeare on the bench. Triplet cut, Shuler cut, and Dimperio cut. Can you explain our poor draft this year? Why would you allow Chester Taylor to walk away?

  25. By Carl K on Oct 12, 2010 | Reply

If our late round picks can’t make the team? Wouldn’t it be better to trade the picks for future picks or trade them for someone who can help the team?
Cutting late round picks is complete waste.

Keep going to moss I liked how you the team got more aggressive the second half against the jets why not start the game and end it that way. Give moss and harvin the ball with ap. Chilly do something about the protection maybe start benching guys for false starts like loadholt. I liked how you pulled guys out after they made a mistake these guys might need some benching time to see the game from the sidelines and see a clearer picture. The oline did some good things against the jets but also missed a bunch of assignments you might want to get in the ears of the o line coach and lineman. Anybody would be thankful to have this roster we cant expect to make it to the playoffs and play like a bunch of rookies out there. Asher allen and sheppard sucks try inserting sanford to play corner. Keep airing it out chilly forget about the west coast offense lets play like 98 its now or never we may never see a talented roster like this in the future again!!

I ATTENDED THE GAME VS. THE JETS AS A FULLY CLAD VIKINGS FAN.

LIVING IN NJ, I LISTEN TO ALMOST EVERY REX RYAN NEWS CONFERENCE.

IF ANY VIKINGS FAN WANTS A TASTE OF HOW & WHY THE JETS AS A TEAM – AND THEIR FANS – ARE SO MOTIVATED TO WIN & EXCEL, JUST GO TO NYJETS.COM AND WATCH THE REX RYAN NEWS CONFERENCE. IT IS WHAT IS MISSING FROM OUR VIKINGS THIS SEASON.

FOR GOD’S SAKE WHY DO WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE 2nd HALF OF GAMES FOR OUR TEAM TO COME TOGETHER?? CAN’T THE COACHING STAFF MAKE THEIR ADJUSTMENTS ON THE FLY?? I’M SORRY TO SAY THIS BUT BRAD CHILDRESS, IN MY OPINION, IS JUST A GLORIFIED OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR – AT BEST! I KNOW THAT COACH ANDY REID VETOED BRAD CHILDRESS ON MANY OCCASSIONS, SO HIS SUCCESS AS THE EAGLES OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR WAS DUE TO A MAJOR PART TO ANDY REID.

OUR SAVING GRACE THIS WEEK MAY BE THAT IN WADE PHILLIPS, WE’RE FACING ANOTHER – AT BEST – GLORIFIED ASSISTANT.

WE NEED GREATNESS, POISE AND A PROACTIVE INNOVATOR AND LEADER IN BOTH OUR HEAD COACH AND QB OF THE FUTURE.

EVEN THOUGH I HAVE GREAT ADMIRATION FOR SPIELMAN, I’M VERY FRUSTRATED THAT WE WEREN’T AS PROACTIVE AS WE COULD HAVE BEEN DURING THE PRE-SEASON IN ACQUIRING A WR, O LINEMAN, CB, YOUNG QB OF THE FUTURE, ETC. WHAT DO I MEAN BY PROACTIVE? JUST GO BACK AND REVIEW ALL THE MOVES THE JETS MADE. WHY DO
I CHOOSE TO LOOK AT THEM? BECAUSE I BELIEVE THEY ARE NOW THE BEST TEAM IN THE NFL.

HOPEFULLY OUR SEASON WON’T BE OVER IN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS! I JUST WANT TO WIN – NOW!!!

Hey coach Childress we as fans of the Vikings were wondering if there is a chance that when things aren’t going well like the season so far if maybe the coaches would consider making an adjustment before halftime in games? Also might we see more creative play calling to create some mismatches with the talent and weapons on this team there is absolutely no reason for the Vikings to be 1-3 at this point in the season, A great coach takes average players and makes them good, and takes good players and makes them great, and last but not least takes great players and turns them into Hall of Famer’s . Now that being said, do you consider yourself to be a great coach? because so far this season we haven’t seen it out of all your players only a select few and most of them achieved that stasis before you took the head coaching job. These are fair and legitimate questions that we as Vikings fans deserve an answers to!

  35. By Itsnowornever on Oct 13, 2010 | Reply

Bring back marcus sherals, he would probably do a better job than asher and lito we need taller corners or bulkier those allen and sheppard are too small teams with tall wideouts will just torment our corners. It sucks griffin is out he is physical and good man to man corner. Coach you might want to bring out some practice squad corners or sign someone asher and lito are not starter material.

  36. By Meekay on Oct 13, 2010 | Reply

I will just echo the others on Webb. It’s ridiculous to have that kind of talent sitting on the bench indefinitely when he is needed on the field. Even if he wasn’t needed on the field, he certainly needs some experience if you expect him to be a part of the team at some point.

IM NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE BUT I DONT BLAME THEM FOR NOT RIGHTING BACK IF ALL YOU PEOPLE DO IS TALK TRASH….DO YOU NOT THINK THERE DOING THE BEST THEY CAN? APPARENTLY THEYRE BETTER THAN YOU CAUSE I KNOW NONE OF YOU ARE COACHING SO YOU CANT SAY A BUNCH OF THINGS TELLING THEM WHAT TO DO BECAUSE IM SURE ITS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS. ANOTHER THING THAT BUGGED ME…… I KNOW THE VIKINGS ARENT DOING SO GREAT RIGHT NOW BUT I WILL NEVER QUESTION THAT THEY ARE THE BEST TEAM EVER, I BELIEVE THEY WILL COME BACK !! BUT DONT QUESTION IF THEYRE THE BEST OR NOT CAUSE IF YOU HAVE TO DO THAT YOU DONT LOVE OR BELIEVE IN THEM ENOUGH. SO DONT CALL YOURSELF A TRUE FAN!!!

    Hey coach,

Why don’t you put our most athletic player Joe Webb in the game as some sort of wide receiver or wildcat player. He truly is explosive and can add a key component to the game. We need to throw in more options to our game like actually using Randy Moss with the long ball, at least a few shots down field every game, or not running the ball on first down! Maybe a play action or something, maybe that wildcat offense every now and then using Joe Webb.

One more thing. Please realize that you are in dangerous water and the only reason your are still our coach is because of Brett Favre. He is the sole reason why we were so great last year. Bringing him back this year is saving you from getting fired, and you need to respect him more and not get down on you starting QB. You need to support him because fighting him only makes the team play worse and lets them think that you faith in them. So what if he had some bad throws. He still let us COME BACK and almost win the game, if you could ever challenge a play (LIKE THE PACKERS TOUCHDOWN THAT HE WAS OB AND DROPPED THE BALL, and SHAINCOE!!)

  41. By Tom on Oct 25, 2010 | Reply

JOE WEBB needs to PLAY in our football games. He is GREAT, JOE WEBB WILL ANSWER SOME DOWNFIELD PLAY IF YOU PUT HIM AT WIDE RECEIVER. PLEASE, coach PLEASE I am BEGGIN YOU TO PLAY JOE WEBB

you need to get an offensive line that can BLOCK. Favre has NO time in the pocket. ALSO ADRIAN PETERSON, the Best running back in football, has NO, NONE, ZERO, ZILCH, NADA, absolutely no holes to run through!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
