Posted by cjsiewert on October 11, 2010 – 7:45 pm

The NY Jets struck first in tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup with a 25-yard FG by K Nick Folk. The Jets started their scoring drive on the Vikings 40-yard line and rode the rushing attack of veteran RB LaDainian Tomlinson, who has 34 yards on 4 carries.

Favre and Co. will take over for their 3rd series of the game trailing 3-0 in the 1st quarter.

Please clarify the field position of the Jets after their holding penalty on third down and 15 in the end of the first quarter. They were on their own 9, with a 3rd and 15, then Holmes had a holding call. The next play they had the same field position. Did I miss something or was that a mistake?

The penalty was for half the distance which intern set up the 3rd and 15

Will someone please tell the front office that Childresses play calling is terrible. RUN RUN RUN. If he would actually look he would be able to see that the middle of the field is open for tight ends or some quick screens. you can only run the ball so often. Plus where are the blocks when the jets blitz from the running and full backs. Pathetic , Only the defense is keeping them in the game at this point. FIRE CHILDRESS.

This is an unacceptable performance by our Offense and our Defense seems outplayed again…….Jets are averaging 10 yds oer play

allen does not seem to produce vs elte teams …he is okay player but in mine mind was way over rated…tough teams control him easily

The vikings need to make coaching changes if this is all the offensive coordinator can come up with. Come On.

  8. By rocksalt on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

Every team has controlled Jared Allen this year even the mighty Detroit Lions

I hate to say this, but I think T. Jackson needs to come in for awhile.

  10. By Cj on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

No, they were on their own 9 with a 3rd and 15, got the holding penalty and had the exact same field position after. What happened?

  11. By Rob on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

Get rid of Childress, Favre, and the offensive coordinators next year and they might have a chance.

  12. By Jeremy on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

Tough teams double team him idiot. Jared allen is fine, just like AD, or A. P. is ok.

  13. By martin on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

based on the childress press conferences no reporter ever asks any real questions…no challenges…a love in by the journalists..this team was not ready for the first half

  14. By Jeremy on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

Favre is done after this year period! The only thing going for him now is when it’s the worst he can be his best, but meanwhile we are losing because of his body, and mb his mind at this point.

the jets o line handling the vikings like it is boys vs men…like 2 years ago it could be 3rd and 30 and the other team gets a first…first half a physical beat down

  16. By rocksalt on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

Idiot! Jeremy you are the idiot =Jared was mano a mano against Justin Long and was silent the entire game by New orleans and Miami. BTW no need to call names……
But where is our vaunted D? Jets are averaging OVER 10 tards per play…..

  17. By rocksalt on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

Plus. even an idiot would think to move Subway boy around if he is double teamed……..but whre are the rest who are not double teamed? Or is all of our D double teamed?? that sounds idiotic……

  21. By rocksalt on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

There you go! Subway Boy has been manhandlked once again mano-a-mano……only for the 3rd out of 5 games this season. Our safewties and D backs are making the majority of the tackeles……ANYONE WHO KNOWS ABOUT FOOTBALL KNOWS THIS IS TYROUBLE!!!!Jeremy-have you even played the game? Not counting WIFI, MADDEN , EA SPORTS, ETC………
As for the pathetic excuse of our offense………well there is no excuse for this!

  22. By martin on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

the offense looks horrific…the bad news is that we cant even say we are getting lots of chances but just missing big plays…there is no seperation and the running game is a struggle on every play even if we gain good yards…

1-4 ………disappoinment of a team……….I actually enjoy watching TEAMS play- The Vikings are not a TEAM>>>>>>>>>>>

only way we win this game is if the jets give us lots of turnovers…looks like after next week vikings or cowboys will be 1-4..,,,

Rocksalt you are truly an idiot. Do you think we can replace “subway” by somebody better? When AD premiered for my team, since you are obviously not a fan, he was the best thing since sliced bread. Teams then schemed for him. Last year “subway” had an awesome season, so now they scheme for him. Opponents also get players to compete with him, or scheme. That is fine. Let them do that, but then the other players have to make the plays.

    2nd & 22…..I hope it isnt 3rd & 22………Jets will gain 23!

now is the time to prove it if we can compete with the elite teams…this second half can become a big turning point for the season…time to get tough

If the Vikings are not a team, then don’t watch them idiot! Rocksalt you are as smart as your name. Rock and Salt. Go cheer for the Packers or something. Get off of here.

Once again you show your lack of intelligence. AP……..I have not even criticized. Although he has been quiet, he can bring it at any monment. As for Subway Boy……what has he done THIS YEAR? He has been manhandled mano-mano in 3 of 5 games. DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS IS GOOD? IT IS NOT EVEN ACCEPTABLE! SO SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE

To all the real Vikings fans, do you think we should take Favre out tonight? I think he would be better next week, and statistically T. Jackson plays his best football coming in.

there must be some deeper divisions on the team…how can you go from last years great season to looking this pathetic so far this year..

  36. By mike on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

2 jets holding penalties One at end of 1st qtr and another with 10:55 left in the 2nd. Then personal foul – face mask against jets. Vikings only get 6 yrds for the penalty but still 1 st down??? What am I missing???

  37. By rocksalt on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

    Jeremy-
I am tired of your personal attacks. You know nothing about football and you have no business talking about the vikings because you are blinded by the purple Kool aid you drank………
Your stupid opinions have no merit.

You are not a Vikings fan Rocksalt, so I’m done with you. Point blank, you are saying that no. 1 the Viklings have a bad defense bc of Jared Allen. The Viks defense is good idiot! Like I said they scheme for Jared Allen now. They put people on him that can try to handle him. If we get any offense the defense will be better. When we are behind we can’t just go for the QB genius!

  40. By Jeremy on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

Last year we were ahead most of the time, and so we could go QB hunting! Not true this year, and so easier to take care of Jared Allen. Shut your pie hole idiot.

  41. By Jeremy on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

I know nothing about football, fine that is your opinion Rocksalt. I doubt your knowledge highly, but more importantly, you are obviously not a Vikings fan, and you have never argued that. Why are you on here then? Go away.

  42. By Jeremy on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

We can’t pull him now fans. This is when Favre killed us year after year. Should have happed in the second quarter.

What a beautiful thing! Win or lose this game, it’s just the beginning! Did you like that Rocksalt?!!!

  44. By Jeremy on Oct 11, 2010 | Reply

Got to love this if you are a Vikings Fan! Favre promised lights out, and how many times has he came back in games like these. Come on Vikes! The whole team needs to do it now!

@CJ I saw the same thing you did last night. The refs never marked off the penalty yardage after the holding call against Holmes. They had two consecutive 3rd and 15 plays from the 9 yard line. I can’t believe more people didn’t notice this. Unless we’re missing something of course.
